Brock’s Gift

"Squirtle, quickly spin dodge and then {Aura Sphere}."

Squirtle who was currently in front of the oncoming {Energy Ball} smirked. The tiny turtle with a well-timed jump, started to spin mid-air landing behind its opponent.

This in turn impressed the audience a lot and garnered a lot of attention from passersby and civilians alike.

At this point the little guy had made the dodge his signature move.

"Squirt!"

Squirtle shouting, starts to form a ball of aura near its mouth. Unfortunately for the Sawsbuck who was just turning around, the ball of energy was already next to it.

*Boom!*

After a short wait, the winner was announced as the smoke dissipated.

"Winner is Squirtle, making Forrest Harrison the victor!" The referee announces.

"Way to go Squirtle!"

"I wish my starter was a royal Pokemon."

"Did you see that dodge? I've never seen that before!"

Looking at the tiny turtle Pokemon taking in all the praise as it looked around the stands, my mind wandered off a little.

'It's a shame that my other Pokemon don't have the drive to be the strongest.' I thought to myself seeing Lairon in Squirtle's place.

While Pokemon like Squirtle and Tyrogue were born and constantly told they would be the best. Others like Scyther and Clefairy had no such thoughts and just lived according to their instincts to survive.

While these Pokemon could still be trained to become absolute monsters on par with champion-level battlers.

That's not enough…

I need a team of monsters all equal to the ace of a champion!

Forcing such Pokemon with No drive to crush their opponents is akin to training a clan heir from a martial arts family.

They'll become stronger with time but don't have that thirst that an outsider of said martial arts family would have. Said outsiders would cling to anything they could no matter what.

A good example is Professor Sycamore's Garchomp. It evolved without much training as Sycamore would have time to battle and train it. And to add insult to injury to other Pokemon, it could mega-evolve and control the form after two tries.

The difficulties of controlling mega-evolution was shown by Korrina in X and Y.

If the Garchomp was raised to be a battler it definitely could contend with champion-level Pokemon.

(A/N: Just an example I thought of That would somewhat help. Y'all have read Manhua/Manwha yeah?)

'Now that I think about it Brock's little delivery should be in my PC, he said he would transfer it last night-'

Before my thoughts went any further a certain the turtle was looking at me with wide eyes.

"Squirtle squirt!" Squirtle said while holding his hands out wanting to be carried. Seeing his cute expression scene I couldn't help but raise him up and start to cuddle him.

"You did amazing pal!"

After exiting the stadium with Squirtle in my embrace, I checked my phone.

[Forrest Harrison (Unranked)

Age: 13

Home City/Town: Pewter City

Win rate: 100% (17-0)

Pokemon: Lairon, Squirtle, Clefairy, Tyrogue, Beedrill

(~~~~)

Squirtle was able to get a five-win streak while Lairon did the rest. I'm starting to play favourites a little which was normal.

It may be hypocritical but my bias was going towards Lairon, Squirtle and Tyrogue. Of course, I would naturally prioritise the hard-working ones.

That doesn't mean I'll ignore the rest though.

"Let's head to the Pokemon centre," I say looking at the GPS app.

"Graveler and Beedrill…" I murmur putting their Pokeballs on the transfer pod.

*Click* *zzzp*

Soon after I clicked "confirm", the two Pokeballs disappeared leaving the metal chamber empty. Looking back at the screen I smirk seeing the Pokemon.

"It's finally here."

*Zzzzp*

Another Pokebal appeared right after the transfer. Seeing this I grab the Pokeball in glee. It was finally time to see this little guy for the first time.

"Squirtle it's time to meet our new friend."

"Squirtle squirtle!"

Being met with an enthusiastic response I grin.

Logging out of my account and heading towards one of the training grounds outside, it didn't take long before I found an open space.

Taking the Pokeball from Earlier I tapped the Pokeball twice.

*Phszzszst*

A small green, bipedal reptilian creature was released from the Pokeball making its appearance. It had a lax expression while chewing a small piece of bark with a leaf on the end.

"Treecko?" The gecko Pokemon growls in confusion. This didn't last though as it immediately got a serious look observing its surroundings.

Seeing how this little guy was assessing his situation I was impressed, to say the least. He hasn't lashed out but is keeping vigilance.

Squirtle who was in my arms got a competitive look and hopped down.

"Squirtle squirt (Fight me)!" It said with a smug smile while holding a thumbs down towards the gecko.

Treecko who saw this accepted the challenge and jumped a distance back.

This will be interesting.

While I already knew who was going to win, this would serve as a lesson to Treecko. It will also make it easier to communicate with him.

'I can't help but think this Treecko is familiar… This can't be Ash's right?'

The general aura of this Treecko felt nostalgic, to say the least. It wouldn't be too hard to find out though as I could ask Brock about Ash's current team.

Taking my attention back to the battle I create some space for them to fight.

"Tree treecko."

The Gecko getting a smirk held out its hands and gave a "come here" gesture to taunt Squirtle. But the turtle who was already used to Clefairy's antics didn't take the bait.

Constantly being teased by the gravity-defying fluff ball does five you a tolerance to taunts.

Instead of beung mad, the tiny turtle huffed its chest and let out a {Water Gun}.

*Gush*

Treecko who didn't expect the fast speed of the attack couldn't dodge and was directly hit.

*Splash* *Thud*

The attack unexpectedly sent the Pokemon flying backwards making it widen its eyes in surprise.

"Tree?"

Treecko with a perplexed look gave Squirtle a death glare wanting to repay the favour.

"Squirt squirtle squirt!" Squirtle who didn't take kindly to that just laughed at Treecko making the Pokemon visibly mad.

This made the Pokemon start to run at Squirtle at an angle. But unfortunately for it, the turtle already saw through the rush and attacked with {Water Gun}.

*Gush*

Treecko who expected this dodged to the right and embedded its arms with {Leafage}.

Squirtle who wasn't done yet sent another {Water Gun} right after the dodge catching Treecko off balance. The gecko trying to cut the attack while landing, failed as he was overpowered sending the poor Pokemon flying again.

"Well this seems a bit unfair," I murmur already knowing how much the training I gave Squirtle enhanced his attacks.

To my surprise right after the attack, Treecko got back up with a shaky body. He didn't want to give in and after some slight hesitation he rushed back.

Squirtle gaining a glint in his eyes lost its previous expression and garners a determined one.

"Squirtle!"

*Gush*

Multiple {Water Guns} were used as the Treecko with the adrenaline kicking simply dodged. Treecko side stepping the first attack, proceeding to duck barely avoiding the hit.

'He's quickly adapting real time in battle.' I observed seeing the wide smile Treecko had at the prospect of a difficult battle.

A battle junkie...

The tiny turtle realising his opponent already closed the gap rushed forward. As they both met in the middle Treecko used {Pound} while Squirtle used {Withdraw}.

*Clang!*

The Gecko hitting the shell of Squirtle had a shiver of pain go down its body as if hitting steel. Squirtle taking advantage of this used {Rapid Spin} and directly slammed itself into Treecko's solar plexus.

This hit sent the Pokemon back towards the floor.

*Crash*

Squirtle who recovered and looked pridefully at the downed Pokemom, just watched as it again after hit and hit get back up.

"Tree tree..." It says doing the same "come at me" taunt with his whole body shaking like Rock Lee against Gaara.

I would of stopped this earlier but it would of made unnecessary tension and conflict between the two. So letting it proceed is the best thing I can do right now.

Fortunately for me though soon after this Treecko lost its footing and fell down with swirls in its eyes.

"Squirtle squirt?" Squirtle looking back at me with a confused look pointed at the downed guy.

Sighing at the sight I take Clefairy's Pokeball and send her out.

*Phszzst*

"Clefairy!"

"Go heal your new friend." I encourage guiding her to Treecko. Clefairy with an energetic look waddled over to the Pokemon and used {Heal Pulse}.

Seeing that Treecko was now conscious my face got a warm smile.

"Welcome to the family bud, let us officially introduce ourselves." I announce taking out some Pokemom food the the little guy.

Treecko getting a fuzzy feeling in its chest shyly took the food and started to nibble on it. Squirtle and Clefairy who saw this got joyful looks and hugged the guys sides.

They got a new brother to play with!

It took a while but I was able to introduce the whole squad besides the ones who were sent back. But for now we would be staying at Vermillion for a little bit.

Right now I could take my time as there were still nine more months for me to go through.

The first few weeks and I already have what some consider to be the hardest badge to obtain.

I still had Grandpa Canyon and the safari zone to adventure through so I'll make the most of it.

While enjoying it with my Pokemon of course!

(A/N: According to Ash from the time he met May till when they went their separate ways after the league. The time spanned was 9-10 months.)

For now, I will adventure Vermillion with Squirtle, Tyrogue, Clefairy and the newly added Treecko.

"Clefairy you think Treecko will like hot cocoa?" I ask chuckling a little. Clefairy who heard this remembered she still had her hot cocoa rights gone for a few more days and had a shocked look.

Seeing my mischievous look Treecko got confused but Squirtle patted his shoulders.

"Squirtle squirtle (Don't question it, humans are weird)!" Squirtle said shaking his head.

While not knowing what they were saying, I was randomly pissed for some reason. My spidey senses were tingling.

*Achoo!*

"Someone might be talking about me" I murmur after the sneeze.

And oh no was I right.

(~~3rd Person's POV~~)

In a room with a long table, there was a single man taking a seat. Next to him was a woman holding a clipboard with an "R" logo behind it.

The woman seemed to be his secretary and the person in question who was sitting down was a very well-known man.

A tall, medium build, middle-aged man had short, flat dark and and dark eyes. He wore a suit and had leather shoes adding to his lavish appearance.

"Giovanni sir, it's time." A woman named Matori says adjusting her glasses.

The now-introduced man, the gym leader of Viridian City and secret head of Team Rocket was waiting for a meeting.

"Turn the lights off and leave the room." The rough and cold voice of Giovanni says as Matori quickly complies. Soon after this the little devices on the table started to turn on and little holograms of people started to show.

Just about seven other holograms could be seen with different gym leaders being shown.

The first of the eight to speak was Erika.

"Hello everybody!" She cheerfully said clasping her hands together. "What's this meeting about?"

(A/N: The story will have the MC do side stuff outside of gym battles after besting a few gyms. This will be in effect after Koga though. So like he beats Koga then Erika, then does stuff in between then goes for the next two leaders for example. This makes it easier for me to pace the story a little more.
