3 Let's choose.

Alan, who was surprised by the changes in his eyes, looked all around himself, but everything remained the same, to his surprise.

'Then why are my eyes glowing red?'

Just as he asked himself this question, his eyes lay on the Pokeball that had rolled to the corner of the room. He could see light fumes coming out of it; without any further ado, he walked towards the Pokeball and held it in his hands, trying to examine it. He could see the fumes coming out of the Pokeball at this close distance. They were light green, not too dense, but just enough to show green in them.

"This...."

It did not take a genius to figure out what those light green fumes meant, and Alan too immediately figured out, 'light green potential of the pokemon.'

'How is this possible? Wait, does that mean I can see the potential of all pokemons?' as soon as that thought came to his mind, he hurriedly put down Tailow's Pokeball and picked up the one which had a Lillipup in it.

The fumes coming out of this Pokeball were green, darker than the green coming out of Tailow's Pokeball. Once again, he put that Pokeball down and picked up Machop's Pokeball. Like the previous two, it had a darker shade of green radiating out of it.

'Is it because of these?' he thought while placing his hand on his left eye. There was nothing else that could explain this phenomenon.

'Doesn't that mean...'

Alan could not even imagine the possibilities that had opened up to him. The loopholes he could exploit to make use of for himself.

He still could not believe what was happening; some people were born with psychic power while some were born with strong aura since birth but never was it possible for a human to check pokemon's potential with a naked eye. The pokemon had to undergo a test, which was possible only if it had hatched from an egg.

Suddenly Alan's mind perked, and he thought about a possibility, 'what if I can check the potential of eggs too? Wouldn't that mean...' as he concluded, he hurriedly walked towards the door, but before he opened it, he paused before taking out his Pokedex and once again opening the front camera.

'How do I turn these eyes off?' he thought and then closed his eyes before he thought about turning his vision to normal. A few seconds later, he opened his eyes again, and this time, they were back to normal.

'So I just have to will for it,' he concluded. But he did notice that his veins in the eyes had become visible, clearly due to the burden of using that secret eye technique. He shook his head before he opened the door and walked outside.

What came in his sight was Alex and Jonas heartily talking to each other.

"Oh?" as they heard the sound of doors opening, they both turned towards Alan before being surprised.

"Did you already make a choice?" asked Alex, a bit worried since it was way too fast, and they did not want Alan to make the wrong choice.

"Yes, I have already decided what pokemon I am going to choose," he said with a straight face, "but..."

He had already decided what pokemon to pick if his theory was incorrect.

Seeing the hesitation in Alan's voice, Alex asked back, "is something wrong? If you need a suggestion, I can help you with it."

Without thinking of anything else, Alan looked his father straight in the eye, "dad, do you trust me?"

A weird question.

This was the first thing that came into Alex's mind.

However, how could he not trust his son? He had raised Alan, and he knew what kind of a man he would grow into, and he was proud of it, and hence without even a bit of hesitation, he gave his reply. "yes, isn't it obvious?"

"Mr. Jonas, how much is one egg sold for?" he then asked Jonas a question, and Alex got a hint of what Alan might be getting to.

"Every egg is priced at 1 million pokedollars regardless of the type and potential that comes out of it." he gave a straightforward answer.

"I would like to take a look at the eggs, please," he said with a short, polite bow.

"Alan, what are you saying," rebutted Alex when he saw what Alan was about to do, "if it's about the money, then you don't need to worry about it."

"Dad, trust me," with a confident look, Alan spoke to Alex and seeing the expression on Alan's face, Alex could not refuse; he did what he thought was the best thing at the moment. He trusted Alan's decision.

"Alright, it's just a million dollars anyway; if it turns out bad, we can always choose a pre-identified pokemon," he said while shaking his head before looking at Jonas, "sorry for the trouble, but could you help us out?"

Jonas, confused by the interaction between father and son, just nodded his head absent-mindedly, "I will ask someone to show you the way since I cannot leave this place."

With that said, he made a call, and soon a woman in a formal suit appeared before them.

"She will take you where you want to go," he said before walking back into the room with pokeballs.

As the father-son duo followed the woman, Alex could not help but ask, "why do you want to choose an egg?"

"I am not sure if I will choose an egg, but it might end being better than the pokemons I was about to pick," replied Alan in a whisper so that only his father could hear.

Alex did not say anything and gave a slight nod; it was not long before they reached another room. The woman scanned a card and the door opened by itself and what came in Alan's view was a room bigger than their house filled with nothing but eggs, and some children of the same age as Alan were trying their luck on the eggs.

"You can choose the egg you want, but please mind, there is a possibility of a red grade pokemon hatching out of the egg. So, I hope you choose wisely," after giving her a short explanation, the woman and Alex once again left the room, leaving behind Alan along with couple more children.

They gave Alan a curious gaze before they went back to check the eggs. All the eggs were placed in an incubator with a digital watch showing how long it would take them to hatch.

Alan, without saying anything, walked towards the eggs and covered his eyes with his long hair before he once again activated his eyes. The spectacle in front of Alan was something he had never seen before.

Different coloured fumes were leaking all around the room, making it appear as if straight from a colour book of little kids. This proved another theory; he can check the potential of even the eggs.

"Within all these, what is the probability of getting a pokemon with a potential above green?" he talked to himself in a small voice, but due to how quiet the room was, his voice echoed throughout the room.

"Look at him trying to dream big."

"One should know the limit of their capabilities before they talk."

All of the kids laughed as they heard what Alan said. The blue potential was only found in the pokemon of the rich. A single, even light blue pokemon could go for the minimum price of 30 million pokedollars. And the deep green pokemon, unless a dragon, fairy or psychic type, would go for 10 million to 12 million pokedollars.

The divide between green and blue was also a gap that created qualitative change in a pokemon.

Paying no mind to the talk between the kids, Alan kept walking all around the room, checking each egg one by one. What he was looking for at the moment was not green but rather blue radiation; however, even after almost an hour, he could not find a single blue potential pokemon egg. He had seen a few green likely eggs, but they were not as attractive to him as a blue if he could find one.

He had gone through almost all the eggs, and only one shelf was left. With a broken heart and close to no hope, he walked towards it and just as he suspected, there was no blue egg in it as well, from what he could see. He turned around and decided to take a deep green potential pokemon instead when the doors of the egg room suddenly opened.

A man in a lab coat was driving a small cart meticulously filled with eggs. Alan passed his eyes over the eggs before he kept moving, but then he froze in his footsteps.

'Did I just see what I think I saw, or is my mind playing tricks?'

He immediately jerked his head back towards the new eggs, and there among them was a brown egg radiating a colour different than any he had seen so far.

"Yes!!" he yelled in his excitement, but why wouldn't he? Among the other eggs lay an egg with Blue fumes radiating out. It was not a light blue but rather a shade darker, and he was very sure it was close to breakthrough to deep blue if he tried a little bit.

The man driving the cart stopped when he heard Alan yell, while the other kids looked at him as if he was an idiot, but Alan, who had gotten what he had come for, ran straight towards the man who had just entered.

"Dear sir, are these eggs also available for me to pick from?" he held the man's hand and looked at him with eyes that were sparkling in red.

The man was mesmerized by those eyes, and he unknowingly nodded his head, "ah yes, these eggs are here for you all to choose from. is there any particular one you want from it?" he asked, jerking his hand off from Alan's grip.

'What a weird kid!'

"Yes, please. I want to take that egg," replied Alan while he pointed at the egg he wanted and the man just nodded before he carefully took out the egg and handed it to Alan.

"Once you leave, the person outside would help you register the egg to your name. If you want to buy more eggs, you can take one of those carts on the side and take them outside in it," after giving the instructions, the man walked away with a cart. Alan, however, hugged the egg tightly.

Even if this turns out to be a common pokemon, he would be happy since the potential of this pokemon was going to make up for anything else.

'This will be my starter pokemon,' he told himself, and a bright smile appeared on his face.

He quickly grabbed a cart and started loading it with eggs, five in total, including the one he had already chosen.

'Three light green and one green,' he was baffled how rare green potential was, 'me getting a blue is nothing but luck, which might not happen again.'

There were at least, few thousand eggs in the room; however, only four with green potential while one with blue.

'The possibility of getting a blue potential might be even more less,' he concluded but then placed it all at the back of his head. It was time to go out; dragging the cart loaded with five eggs, Alan soon went outside where his father along with the woman were waiting on him.

When he saw Alan dragging a cart with five eggs, Alex could not help but be surprised but he did not say anything for now, he turned to the woman before he spoke, "we will be buying all five."

Surprised by the 'stupidity' of the duo, the woman did not say anything and happily took the money before handing the eggs to them.

Alex and Alan made their way to the car, and carefully placed the eggs inside. They did not want anything to happen to them before they hatched. Alan however, placed the egg with blue potential in his lap, hugging it close.

"So care to explain why you chose the eggs and why you are hugging that egg as if your life depends on it?" asked Alex.

"About that...." Alan was about to truthfully explain everything before his mind suddenly became blank with blood coming out of his eyes.

"Alan!!"
