28 Father and Son

In the afternoon, Alan and Alex sat on a hillside in Pallet town.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?"

"Yes. Are you still busy with the research?"

Alex nodded his head, "Mega Evolution is fascinating, and there is more to it than meets the eye."

"There is more to Mega Evolution?" asked Alan with a slight shock. Mega Evolution was already strong, but there was more to it now?

"What if..." Alex spoke but paused before he thought something. He looked at Alan, who was waiting for him to finish his words. He thought about a few things and made a decision.

He stood up and asked Alan to follow him deeper into the forest right behind them.

"You should know that your mother and I have kept secrets from you, and I am not talking about the secrets of my research," said Alex as they both kept walking deeper and deeper into the forest.

"Yes."

"I have told you before, you are not ready for them," said Alex before he finally stopped in front of a small waterfall, "but I think you have grown enough to learn few of them."

"Bring out your Pokemons," asked Alex before he started walking ahead alone. Alan did as told and called out Eve and Shin.

Alex jumped towards the waterfall with a smile, and the trio was shocked at how Alan's father was floating above the water at the height of ten meters. No, floating was an understatement; he was flying.

"Every pokemon in this world can Mega Evolve; you just need the right Mega Stones for it," Alex began his explanation on Mega Evolution once again, but this time it was more detailed than before, "but what if..."

He took a pause just like before.

"What if they can Mega Evolve forever?" he said as he looked down at his son before he took out a Pokeball from his waist and held it in his hands.

"What if they can Mega evolve forever?" as Alan repeated the words of his father and limitless possibilities started appearing in his mind. Eve too, heard it with all her attention since she wanted to Mega Evolve with Alan.

Shin, who knew nothing about Mega Evolution, just watched on because he was having fun.

"To evolve beyond Evolution, you need strength so strong that many would cower before you, you need bond so strong that the only known Pokemons to Mega Evolve today are those who have made Blood Bonds with their trainers," said Alex as he enlarged the Pokeball in his hand, "so what is it that you need to make a pokemon stay in Mega Evolution forever?"

"Is it even possible?" questioned Alan.

Since Mega Evolution was just this difficult, how difficult would staying in Mega Evolution forever be?

"Impossible?" said Alex, and maybe for the very first time in his life, Alan saw a serious face of his father, "Alan, impossible is just a word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Which, I reject."

"Did anyone ever think Mega Evolution was possible?" he asked, and Alan could not answer it since no one could have even imagined that there was evolution beyond evolution.

It was impossible until Alex Salvador made it possible for the world. The research and its result took over the world with a storm as the aspects of Mega Evolution, and the possibilities it held drove many to strive for it.

Seeing how Alan was not answering, Alex gave him a soft smile before he asked another question, "if it was not impossible? Then who is to say that staying in Mega Evolution is also..."

"...impossible?" and he threw the Pokeball in his hand towards his back.

A bright silver light flashed, and a huge pokemon appeared before Alan and his pokemon.

*ROOOAAAAAR*

Was it even a pokemon? Or was it a Monstrosity that looked over them?

It had a height of 25 meters as it looked at Alan and his pokemons with a fierce gaze. Even more astonishing was that the pokemon was already Mega Evolved before it came out from its Pokeball.

Alan looked at it with disbelief since it just proved what his father had said.

The pressure coming from the pokemon before him was crushing upon the surroundings and them as well. In his whole life, Alex could have never imagined that pokemon could destroy the surroundings with its presence alone.

"Is he your son, Alex?"

"It can freaking speak?" shouted Alan gaining another fierce glare from the pokemon and a light laugh from his father.

"Alan, she is Stella, my sixth pokemon," introduced Alex while pointing at a Mega Steelix, and then he pointed towards Alan and his pokemon, "and he is my son, Alan. That is his Blood Bond: Eve while the little guy is 'her' son and his second pokemon."

Stella slithered towards Alan with a curious gaze.

Eve who was always lazy and confident in front of others, showed a nervous expression as a 25-meter long Mega Steelix slithered towards them. On the other hand, Shin looked at Stella with excitement while he clenched his fists.

'He wants to punch it too?' thought Alan when he saw what Shin was doing, and he shook his head at the actions of his second pokemon.

"Kid, your eyes...," said Stella before she brought her eyes as close to Alan's as she could, "...how much can you see with those eyes of yours?"

Alan was confused with the question asked by Stella.

'How much I can see? What does she mean?'

He knew his father already had all the knowledge about his eyes even if he had never told him about it, and it was not weird for him to talk to his pokemons about it.

"Alex never told me about them," said Stella, surprising Alan.

"Y-you can read my thoughts?"

"No, but you could figure things out if you are smart," she replied with a smirk before turning towards Alex, "does Rio know about it too?"

"Rio?"

"He is my first pokemon and also my Blood Bond," he said while pointing at the small necklace and the Pokeball attached to it.

"So, Alan, what do you think?" said Alex ignoring the words of Stella, "is staying in Mega Evolution impossible?"

Alan understood the question asked by his father as he looked at the Mega Steelix in front of him.

"No, it is not impossible," he said before looking at Eve and Kubfu, "right guys?"

[I will achieve this one day too]

"Kub-Kub-fu."

"I think my pokemon wants to fight you," said Alan as he looked at Stella while scratching the back of his head.

"I will let it him for this once since he is 'her' son," she said before nodding her head.

"Her son?" asked Alan in confusion, "you know his parents?"

"Uhm," Alex gave a small cough gathering all the attention towards him, "ignore her, Kubfu is just very rare and could only be found in the Isle of Armour, and she knows a lot of pokemon on the Isle, so it is not possible that Shin is the son of someone she knows."

Alan did not buy his words but nodded in understanding and looked at Shin, ready for his first fight.

"Are you ready for the first fight?"

"Kub-Fu-Fu."

He tried to explain in sign language how excited he was.

Alan tapped the left side of his head to scan Stella for her level, but he was disappointed with the result.

"You are too weak to see my limits, kid," mocked Stella with a smirk, but Alan decided to ignore her, back to his usual calm self and checked Shin's status.

Alan knew his chances of winning with Shin or Eve were zero since the pokemon in front of him was way too strong. But he did not want to back down from a fight since Shin wanted to do it.

In his opinion, it was in Shin's nature to look for fights or punch things. It might also be something that defines Shin; hence, he would let Shin go with his instincts and help him keep his 'personality' as his own than shaping him in the way he wants his pokemon to be.

"Shin, use Fire Punch."

"FU-FU," it gave an exciting yell as it ran towards a Mega Steelix while its fists were surrounded with tiny embers.

He was still weak, and his Fire Punch was not trained enough to produce actual fire.

"Tsk."

As she clicked her tongue, Stella blew some air with her mouth before all the embers were extinguished, and Shin was blown away with it.

"Kub?" he looked in surprise at the power shown by his opponent before he stood up once again and ran towards it while charging a Fire Punch.

But just like before, he was blown away.

"Don't run straight towards it; try to change the direction you are going to punch her from," advised Alan when he saw Shin running directly towards Stella.

"Kub-Kub," but he shook his head as he looked at Alan with determined eyes as if telling him he wanted to fight the giant Mega Steelix head-on.

"You need to understand, always fighting head-on can put you at a big disadvantage," said Alan with a small frown.

Shin, who heard his words, said in a sad voice.

"Kub-Fu-Fu?" said Shin, asking if he could not win like this?

Alan shook his head, "It is hard to win like this, even against opponents who have the same level as you. You become more predictable to them. Do you want to fight this way and lose more than you can win?"

Shin dropped his head as if he was thinking something, but it was clear that he was sad since he could not punch things head-on as he wanted.

"But you can win if you work hard enough to get stronger," said Alan with a smile, and Shin looked at him with sparkling eyes, "you will always be open to your opponents, so that means your defence needs to be high enough to take damage while also training in your offence to do better damage. The amount of training you would need to do for that wou...."

Shin did not let him finish those words before he started shouting.

"Kub-Kub-Fu!!"

He nodded his head so fast that one could see after images. He was making sure that Alan knew he would work hard, as long as it meant he could punch things.

"Then let's use another fire punch," said Alan with a small smile, "even if we lose, I will help you get stronger so we can beat her next time."

Alan looked at his father and his Mega Steelix with a gaze that held the spirit to challenge them.

Shin looked towards his opponent, charged his Fire Punch, and ran forward with a renewed spirit.

Alas, it was not enough to beat the mountain that stood before him. After repeating the process a few more times, Shin fainted from exhaustion.

Alan recalled him back in the pokeball where he would automatically heal his injuries and recover his exhaustion.

"You have a great pokemon, make sure you train him well," said Stella Impressed by the fighting spirit shown by Shin.

[I would like to fight you as well] as soon as the first fight ended, Eve stepped forward with a slightly annoyed face.

"Hmm?" Stella looked at Eve before she voiced her thoughts, "what makes you think you can beat me?"

[I never said I am going to beat you] said Eve before she stood in front of Alan, ready for the battle.

"Remove that Everstone around her neck, I will give you my second gift," said Alex as he floated towards Stella's head and stood on top of it.

'Second gift?' thought Alan but then he nodded his head and removed the Everstone around Eve's neck.

Unlike the normal Everstones, this one was placed inside a special ore which nerfed it's effects. It no longer made a pokemon not evolve forever but made so it won't evolve as long as it is around their necks.

"You guys ready?" asked Alex who was now sitting comfortably on top of Stella's head.

"Yes." [Always.]

"Stella, you should know what to do?" asked Alex and Stella nodded her head in understanding.

"Rain Dance," said Alan and Eve jumped up before her eyes started glowing in blue light as the weather around them started changing and soon it started raining heavily.

"Use Shadow Ball," he said and Eve gathered the Ghost Energy and created a Shadow Ball with a size of Basketball before she sent it towards Stella, "follow it with Bite."

As soon as she used Shadow Ball, Eve came down and ran towards Stella while her teeth started gathering Dark Energy and they were enlarged with became black, covered in the power of Dark Energy.

Alex nodded his head as he was not laying on top of Stella, over watching the battle. The rain from Rain Dance did not even come close to him as he was surrounded by Aura from all sides, keeping the rain drops away from him.

Stella on the other hand just snorted before she used her tail to slam at the ground in front of Eve, "you think this much rain can even effect me?"

The ground spilt open and boulders started floating up from the destroyed ground while Eve was sent flying back towards Alan.

Without anyone noticing, Alex stole one of the small rocks and hid it away.

"Eve, lets try out our improvised move," he said and Eve nodded her head as her eyes started glowing in purple light, "Heavens Fall."

[I don't like the name] she complained as she used her psychic powers to take control of all the rocks, either flying around or the ones that were on the ground before gathering them into one large rock that was even bigger than Stella herself.

"Hmm?" as they looked at what Alan Eve were doing, both Alex and Stella gave a small nod of appreciation.

"See? I told you they always do weird things, maybe I will try this with him," said Alex, giving a proud look as eyes Alan and Eve, "she has come long way, I think her Innate Skill Psychic is at Advanced Mastery at the moment."

Even though she had a small body, if someone looked at her standing below a massive meteor right now with her eyes glowing in purple light, they would be intimidated.

It was not just the purple eyes or the meteor but also the blood lust that was oozing out of her. They both had killed enough pokemons and gone through many life and death situations that they both had developed an intent which radiated off them whenever they were fighting.
