Malva had a full-fire type team of Talonflame, Torkoal, Chandelure, Houndoom, elite rank Delphox, and her ace elite rank Pyroar.

Although Malva had a fire-type team, Steven was still a terrifying opponent to face.

Since most of Steven's Pokemon were slow in comparison to Malwa, he decided to play a slow and defensive battle where steel types excelled at.

The battle lasted for about twenty minutes with Steven winning the match his Metagross and his Skarmory barely standing.

The next round was something a lot of people were waiting for.

Aoki vs Phoebe who had a line of sweat drawn on her face after her name was called.

Although it was a better choice to give Aoki a free pass people wanted to see him fight more, and this is why he was selected to fight.

While praying to God, Phoebe released her Pokemon to the field.

Sableye, Mismagnius, Banette, Dusknoir, elite rack Chandelure, and elite-rank Driftblim.

Seeing her lineup, Aoki released the same team Charizard, Salamence, Gyarados, Clefable, Victreebel, and Nidoking.

Although Nidoking seemed a bad option since his physical attacks could pass through ghost Pokemon while leaning Sucker Punch, and with the help of Darkrai, Nidoking had now a good mastery over dark-type moves and is currently able to infuse them with his physical attacks.

Since Phoebe was a friend to Aoki, decided to let her show her abilities before defeating her and not give her the Clair treatment.

The match started with all of Aoki's Pokemon taking a defensive stance with Phoebe going full attack mode from the start utilizing the evasive abilities of ghost-type Pokemon.

Since Driftblim knows destiny bond, Aoki made sure that he would not execute that move.

The match continued for five minutes with Phoebe trying her best but people with experience could easily realize that Aoki was playing with Phoebe.

Deciding that it was enough, Aoki gave a signal.

Clefable used Gravity with psychic drawing out all the Ghost Pokemon as Gyarados's Dark Pulse hit all of them at the same time.

Without giving much time, Nidoking engaged in a physical battle with his body clad in Dark-type energy.

Charizard and Salamence didn't hold back and began using non-stop fire and dragon-type moves.

Victreebel stayed in one corner and sniped the opponents using Solar beam.

Clefable didn't attack much and only focused on making sure the moves connect.

The first one to go down was Driftblim before Destiny bond could be even used. Within a minute, the entirety of Phoebe's team was wiped out.

No one in the tournament came close to the destructive power that Aoki's Pokemon had especially Salamence who appeared to be more of a menace than Cynthia's Garchomp.

With the audience going wild, Aoki left the stadium with Phoebe leaving shortly after getting her thoughts together.

With all the matches for the day done, the semifinal match-ups were announced that would take place three days later.
