134 Misty vs Erika

Liam: life

My oldest goes back to the time when I was 7 years old, I was on a vacation at my uncle's house. My parents had gone shopping and never returned….they had died in an accident.

I was devastated about losing my family and didn't know what to do. My uncle was devastated too as my father was his only family.

He took a grip on the situation and raised me as his own child. We were not so well of so he was but he didn't touch the single money that my parents left me as a child for my future.

Sometimes he went hungry so that I could feed myself.

He didn't even get married worrying about me.

Looking back to the days, he was truly one of the best human beings.

One day when I was 10 years old, my uncle came back with the good news that he was hired at an advertising agency that paid very well.

2 years later my uncle got a lot of promotions due to his hard work and he now had some more control.

Due to this, I got exposed to a lot of his work which inspired me a lot. I wanted to be a model too.

One day when I was 12, my uncle took me to an audition for an advertisement model. From that day onwards my life changed as now I started earning too.

As time went on I realized that I somewhat had a talent for training Pokemon, especially grass types.

During that time, my workload increased a lot due to the number of offers I received. I started hating my work and instead started to spend more time with my Pokemon.

My uncle understood my problem and told me to do whatever I wanted as I had saved a good amount of money for myself.

I took a break from everything and trained my Pokemon.

As both of our lives were on the proper line, I forced him to start living for himself and get a partner. Fortunately, there was indeed someone who he liked at his office so he got together with her.

As I by then had started earning money from modeling and Pokemon battles, they would not have to worry about taking care of me anymore.

I was 18 at that time I took part in a tournament and nearly won.

That is when I met her…..miss Erika…who brought another change to my life.

She was the woman that made me fall in love for the first time.

We fought as the finalist in the tournament but she won.

"I am Erika, the grass-type specialist gym leader of Celedon City. I want you to join me as the gym apprentice "

I agreed to her proposal and became a gym apprentice.

I quickly rose to the rank and became the 1st apprentice and a substitute gym leader.

I somehow felt happier doing this job than as an actor. I started doing small plays with miss Erika and modeling for my uncle's company.

Like this three years passed and I still could not bring myself to confess to her for fear that I would break things that are between us.

I decided to confess to her but that is when I heard the news that the lead model at my uncle's company fell seriously ill and would be out for a while.

Here goes my plan to ask out miss Erika.

*********

Aoki and Misty entered the battle room after the break was over.

Erika noticed that Liam was in a good mood so things must have worked out. As she was close to him, she knew what was going on.

"Thank you for waiting, I am ready for the next battle, " Erika said.

The grass field that was burnt down was repaired for the next battle.

"Good luck Misty." Aoki wished.

"Thanks"

"THIS IS AN OFFICIAL GYM BATTLE BETWEEN CHALLENGER MISTY AND GYM LEADER ERIKA FOR THE RAINBOW BADGE"

"Begin! "

Erika took a Pokeball and released her first Pokemon which turned out to be a Leafeon.

For this Misty sent out her Starmie.

Both the Pokemons were pretty fast and had a type advantage over each other. In the end, it came down to who got more hits on the other.

Misty did the right thing not choosing Gyarados as there were several disadvantages in choosing Gyarados at the moment.

The First was type disadvantage. The second was grass-type moves that had the ability to restrain Gyarados's movements completely.

If Misty's Gyarados had her mouth closed it would be a problem.

Currently, Misty needed Pokemons that were fast to overcome the type disadvantage so Starmie or Golduck were good choices with the exception of Slowking as his psychic powers could be used to make him faster.

As usual, the match continued with both Starmie and Leafeon going at each other with different moves.

Although it seemed that Leafeon was in an advantageous situation, it was the opposite. Every time Starmie took damage, he used Recover to bring up his health. Unless Leafeon has moves that nearly one-shot Starmie, it's tricky to deal with him.

It could have been in Leafeon's favor if his mastery of the move Giga drain was higher. Starmie with Psychic was able to suppress the move Giga drain not giving Leafeon a chance to recover.

From the looks of it, Leafeon had recently evolved from an Eevee so it had very less Grass-type moves. This Leafeon was an expert at spamming Shadow balls making Starmie unable to get good hits on him.

The match dragged on for about 15 minutes with Leafeon falling down.

"Leafeon is unable to battle! Starmie wins "

In this match, Erika made Starmie use up all her recovery limits so that he cannot heal anymore.

Erika took out another Pokeball and sent out her next Pokemon.

It was a Grass/Psychic-type Executor.

As Misty didn't switch Pokemons, Executor immediately used Trick Room to slow down Starmie.

'Trick room' was a difficult move to deal with. It completely slowed down the opponent's movement speed for a minute which made a huge difference unless the Pokemons had a very high defense.

The trick room also had a long cooldown so Executor should not be able to use it for a while.

Misty ordered Starmie to use Ice Beam but Executor started a very powerful Leafstorm that Starmie could not handle and fainted.

Misty called back Starmie and sent out Slowking.

Another interesting match began with both Pokemon showering each other with different moves.

Unlike Leafeon, Executor had a large number of grass-type moves that were tricky to deal with.

With Sunny day still in effect, Executor had already used Solar Beam two times.

For the first one, Slowking used Substitute which was one-hit KO'd while the second one was somehow stopped after taking some damage.

But Slowking was not just getting hit, he was countering back too. Misty had made Slowking Learn Shadow ball, Flamethrower, and Fire Blast whose power was boosted by Calm mind.

This time, the Executor was annoying to deal with as he could recover his health.

As Aoki finished the match too quickly, he could not see Erika's talent properly but now with Executor her true talent was coming out.

Aoki could tell that Erika was pressing Misty hard making her come up with moves to counter her strategy.

'She is still holding back. I can see that she could use more tricks to press Misty more but stopped'

Gym leaders were present not to bully trainers but to show them where they lacked.

Although gym leaders were ordered not to hold back, Aoki felt like Erika was purposely holding back even in the match with Leafeon.

Pewter Gym was a trail that broke new the arrogance of new trainers

Cerulean Gym was a trial that showed how the battlefield could be taken advantage of.

Vermillion Gym was a trial that made trainers realize when to give up.

Saffron Gym was a trial that made trainers come up with a strategy to beat a Pokemon by analyzing the next move of the Pokemon as the gym leader used telepathy.

Finally Celedon Gym trial made the trainer come up with a strategy to beat Pokemons that can keep healing through the fight and can use tricky moves.

If not for Aoki defeating Venusaur, he was sure he could have used the same method of stalling as Executor.

The match continued for another 10 minutes before Executor fell down from a Fire Blast followed by Slowking who fell down too after 5 seconds.

This match could have been a draw but somehow Slowking managed to stand a few seconds more.

"Executor is unable to battle….Slowking wins !!

With this Challenger, Misty wins the match"
