589 CH62 (584), Nursing Home (2)

The week following Gaia's breakthrough tied up the month, and on Grouday, the second as well as final month of this phase began. If we discounted the first week since it only consisted of Grouday along with the last week since it only had a single day as well, which happened to be the Arcday that I would be starting my logistic phase, I had exactly 4 weeks left of my nursing home phase.

I could freely say that even without considering anything else, the fact that I was able to let Utopia analyze a Pinsirite alone was more than enough to make this phase worth it. I was quite happy with that find, and why wouldn't I? I had failed to get my hands on a Mega Stone during the last 12ish years but ended up lucky enough to allow Utopia to analyze two of them during my practical year so far.

Hence, it was not surprising that I was rather enthusiastic on Arcday while doing my job. Moreover, after my experience with Mr. Yunus, I made sure to be even friendlier while talking with the seniors and the other residents. I mean, if anyone else ended up sharing something interesting with me because of my attitude then great, and if that didn't happen, I did not lose anything by being nice either way, so that was fine as well.

Three more weeks passed like that and while I did not end up hearing anything comparable to the Pinsirite, I did get to hear a lot about the army, or rather about the time the residents spent with the army. It was nothing groundbreaking for obvious reasons, but it was still interesting enough to hear about the experience that the bulk of the kantonian soldiers acquired throughout their service.

Still, come tomorrow, I only had one more week at the nursing home and it seemed I would not stumble upon another gem during this time, which was fine. I was content with what I got, so I shelved the matter and focused on our routine Grouday check-up instead.

When it was Igneel/Charizard's turn I noticed that some of his scales were a bit crooked probably due to the spar/battle he had with Gaara/Gabite yesterday, and while that did not count as an injury since Utopia healed those swiftly as well as fully, it still had to be taken care off before it started to get uncomfortable.

I removed the ones that could not be dealt with without removal and applied a special scale growth cream I had made for my scaly Pokemon. Gaara was the only scaly member who did not need it since his talent allowed him to regrow them in a matter of seconds.

Anyway, after Igneel, it was Squirtle's turn, and everything was fine on his side, though I did apply a strengthening solution on his shell before polishing it because two weeks had passed since the last one. After Squirtle, Hashirama got his turn, followed by a few more checks, and eventually, it was Fortuna/Togetic's turn.

She was in optimal condition physically, though when I took a look at her status sheet I saw something quite pleasant. Fortuna had completed her limit-breaking phase and was ready for her breakthrough to the silver stage. This was naturally something to be happy about and I shared the news with her as well as the others, though I let her know that she too had to wait until the check-up routine was over before we could focus on her breakthrough.

She assented though I could see that she was burning with excitement. Still, excited or not, the others deserved a proper check-up as well, so I did not rush the process. Nonetheless, since we had been close to the end of the session, finishing did not take that long, and within just 25 minutes we were ready to go.

I naturally announced Fortuna's upcoming breakthrough over UtopiaFM before we made our way to her habitat. There were quite a lot of Utopians who wanted to witness her breakthrough, so we spent an extra 20 minutes waiting for the last spectators to show up. Once that happened, I told the others to give Fortuna and me some space.

They formed a circle around her while I hugged her and wished her good luck. Not that she would need any extra luck as the daughter of heaven. Still, it was the spirit of the thing and Fortuna was quite happy that it was finally her turn.

Anyway, once I was done with the pre-breakthrough ritual, I stepped back and moved beside Mothra/Butterfree as well as Horus/Xatu. I then gave Fortuna the go-ahead and she initiated her breakthrough. The first few moments went normally but then a lot of ambient energy rushed to Fortuna, and she lit up quite strongly.

It was pretty obvious that something pretty big was happening, though I was not sure if she was undergoing a variation, unlocking a second modifier, upgrading her Shiny gene, though I did not know if that was actually possible, or possibly even upgrading her talent. Maybe she was doing more than one of those. That possibility could not be excluded since we were talking about Fortuna here.

It took some time, but eventually, the light subsided and the breakthrough was complete. I swiftly made my way toward Fortuna while curiously observing her in hopes of seeing if there were any outwardly/physical changes. As luck would have it, I did in fact notice some changes, though there was not all that much of a visual difference. It was just that the tip of Fortuna's "hair"/"crown" and wings now had a purple tint.

Honestly, my first thought was that Fortuna had unlocked the Royal modifier since purple and blue were colors that tended to appear on Pokemon with this particular gene. If that was the case, then she would be my second Pokemon to possess two genes, though Moka's had combined into a harmonized one.

Nonetheless, I could not exclude the possibility that it was in fact an unpreceded upgrade of her Shiny gene since the addition of purple was color-related, and as I had previously said we were talking about Fortuna here, the heaven's favorite, so I felt that such an upgrade was not unthinkable.

Heck, I could not even exclude the chance that it was her talent "Heaven's Favorite" that hit upgraded and affected her looks. I mean, Heaven's Favorite was already quite heaven-defying, *heh* so an upgrade impacting her body was not that surprising.

Anyway, once I made it to her side, I noticed that she had also grown by a few centimeters. The difference was not all that large, which was why I had not noticed it before standing beside her, or rather it did not stand out before I stood before her and had something to compare her size to, namely me.

Still, leaving those changes aside for now, I crouched down and hugged Fortuna while congratulating her on her breakthrough to the silver stage. I then took her into my arms and began petting while telling her about the changes I noticed. She seemed really curious about the change so I pulled out a mirror and showed them to her.

While Fortuna was inspecting her mirror image the others came over and began congratulating her as well, forcing her to focus on them instead. She actually asked me to let her go and I did, but not before using my "observe" ability to check her new/updated status sheet.

'Name: Fortuna

Type: Fairy, Flying

Potential: Light Aurora (59.46%)*

{Light Aurora (3.88%) -> (3.92%) -> Deep Purple (58.92%) -> Light Aurora (59.46%)}

(Genetic) Modifier: Shiny, Royal*'

I could not help my curiosity and directly jumped to her modifier section, skipping her potential for now. Seeing the Royal gene displayed there confirmed my first theory, showing that the purple coloring she now sported was a result of the Royal gene.

Also, looking at the display of her modifiers, it was obvious that unlike with Moka, Fortuna's two modifiers had not combined into a single one, but remained separate. My guess was that the shiny and Royal genes had no overlapping/clashing points, so there had been no need to combine them since they could coexist separately without any problems.

I was sure that if any such chance existed either her talent or Utopia would have caused a gene fusion, so I was not worried about any trouble arising due to that. Still, incredible luck or not, unlocking a second modifier was pretty costly, so I took a quick glance at her potential section to see how much it had cost her.

After some quick mental math, I concluded that her royal gene must have cost Fortuna 45%, which should have pulled her potential back to deep purple. However, due to the potential bonus she received from her limit-breaking efforts, her potential rose back up to the light Aurora grade and even surpassed her previous percentage by a good margin.

She was still a bit short of the 60% mark, but thankfully her potential would be able to rise to the aurora grade during her next breakthrough even after that reduction. She was for now slotted to become the second one with aurora potential once she broke through to the gold stage after completing her LB, and considering how hard it was to raise any aurora shade manually, I was really thankful for that LB bonus since it would have taken me centuries to fill in that gap myself.

Nonetheless, 45% reduction of not, I still thought that it was worth the cost since the addition of the Royal gene raised Fortuna's overall bonus from 15% to 40%. Once the bonus from Hustle and her modifiers were applied, her racial value/base stat ended up being extremely close to the fabled 600 at 595. This made me truly look forward to her evolution since the values of a Togekiss were much higher than the ones of a Togetic.

Anyway, I shared the good news with Fortuna, and it caused quite a commotion among everyone. They all congratulated her on becoming royalty and I could not help but joke that she had now become a heavenly princess due to her talent and modifiers.

The others picked that up and made their own jokes, all in good fun obviously, and while they teased Fortuna, who took it all in good strides, I continued to look through the rest of her status sheet.

'Abilities: Serene Grace, Super Luck, Hustle

Talents: Heaven's Favorite

Affinities: Fairy, Flying, Psychic (budding)*'

While the next two sections remained unchanged, Fortuna actually ended up gaining another affinity. I was not sure if she had gained that budding psychic affinity due to her new modifier, our bond, which I had felt rise to a strong one by the way, or simply due to luck, but it was always good to gain more affinities.

'Bond: Mikail (strong)*'

Speaking of our bond, I had to say that I was a bit surprised when I felt it upgrade directly after her breakthrough. From my experience so far, the strong bond, unlike the deep bond, usually took a few days or weeks to complete its transition. Yet, Fortuna's bond actually directly advanced after her breakthrough.

I would have associated that with Togetic being a "relation/friendship" evolution, but the same was true for Nyx/Umbreon, and as far as I could remember her bond took a few days to upgrade as well. I decided to ignore that for now and simply attribute it to a combination of her evolution condition as well as her talent. With that conclusion made, I resumed looking and stopped at the next change.

'Parameters:

Stage: Silver Stage (mid)*

Vitality: D

Strength: D*

Endurance: C

Agility: E

Energy Capacity: C

Energy Density: B'

I was not surprised that she was starting at the (mid) Silver stage since I had felt the corresponding undulations being released by Fortuna. Yet, looking at her parameters I could not help but feel that it was quite unfortunate that she had missed out on being able to start at (high) silver by a hair's breadth.

That would have allowed her to evolve to Togekiss straight away, but now she still had to raise one of her parameters by a grade to advance to the (high) Silver stage. I would definitely have her do speed/agility drills to raise that parameter to D, and once that happened, she would be able to evolve to Togekiss. I was confident that we could do it in under 8 months, which was not that long.

I quickly shared the good news with Fortuna before focusing back on her status. While her type relations remained unchanged, there was a new addition to her mastery section as well as her move section.

Seeing how she had not only gained a budding psychic affinity but also acquired Psycho Shift along with a corresponding psychic/psionic energy manipulation, I could not help but assume that this was related to her new modifier after all. Well, that or it was an enormous coincidence.

Still, looking at these psychic-related changes I could not help but think of a myth related to the Togepi line that I had stumbled upon some time ago, though I kept that bit to myself for now, and just shared the things she had actually gained with Fortuna. I did not want to get her expectations high in case I was wrong since anything related to legendaries was quite significant to any Pokemon after all.

Anyway, once I was done with her status sheet, I declared the start of her celebration, and we had quite a lot to celebrate.
