569 CH42 (564), Police (12)

I spent the next two days traveling between Hope Town as well as Viridian City to hang out with Jessie and only moved back to Celadon City after dinner on Grouday. Come Arcday morning I reported back to work with Detective Loneson as well as Monroe, and thankfully the previous matter seemed to have settled down since I saw no reporters lurking around the Police HQ.

Whether there were some discreetly keeping an eye on the situation or not was irrelevant to me since I did not care about that as long as they left me alone, though the detectives told me that they wouldn't bother us anymore until the case was fully solved. That meant the vultures, I meant reporters, would only return if they learned that we caught the criminal boss.

Speaking of that, Detective Monroe and I headed to the interrogation room and began the extensive work of interrogating each one of the 200 or so captive criminals. This time the main goal was not to find out any locations or names/looks since we had already raided all of them and captured nearly everyone.

No, the main goal of this round of interrogations was to compile their respective crimes, along with gathering as much information on the criminal boss's habits, usual hang-out places, behavior, past, and plans.

I also gathered similar information on the other criminals who managed to escape together with the boss. Naturally, the goal of this was to create a complete profile of the wanted criminals in hopes of predicting their behavior and possible future moves so that we could find/locate them.

In the process of gathering that information, I occasionally stumbled upon a location belonging to the gang that had not been raided yet, which I naturally also noted down and passed along so that that could be rectified.

By the end of the week, or rather my work week, I had interrogated roughly half of the captives, and our team had done a lot of work with the information I got out of the criminals. Sadly, we had still not captured the criminal boss, but we had gotten ahold of 2 of the escapees, who were immediately brought before me in hopes of using the information taken from their minds to locate and capture their boss.

Unfortunately, while the idea was good, it seemed the boss had evacuated as soon as he lost contact with these two. Still, at least we knew that aside from the boss only 6 more criminals were left from the gang.

The Lady that slipped through my fingers at the start of all this, who actually happened to be the right-hand man, or rather the right-hand woman of the criminal boss, was one of those 6. The other 5 were enforcers, who were pretty much the most trusted minions of the criminal boss.

This information was rather vital for us since it told us that we absolutely had to catch this bunch. Otherwise, the criminal gang could definitely stage a return since those 7 were pretty much the backbone of their gang. Everyone else could easily be replaced, so the capture of that bunch was crucial.

I was just happy that these idiots, I meant criminals were still sticking around Celadon City for some reason instead of hiding somewhere else. I had no idea why they were doing something frankly stupid like that, especially since the boss actually seemed decently smart and cautious, but I was not complaining since it was the only reason we had a chance to capture them.

Had they escaped, we would have had to pass the case up the chain since it would have been outside of our jurisdiction, but they didn't, so we could still close/solve the case ourselves.

Anyway, as I said, at the end of my Palkiday shift I left the Police HQ for my extended weekend, and this time around I stayed in Celadon City. I spent Dialday inside Utopia but hung out in the city on Kyoday since Rose actually came over for a visit to spend some time with me.

The day went pretty great, at least it did until our stroll toward Aldini's local branch for dinner. While we were walking there we, or rather I got attacked by two people, who I recognized as two of the enforcers of the criminal gang.

These two b*st*rds actually called out their Pokemon in the middle of the road and ordered them to attack me even though Rose and I were walking along a regular street with other blameless people around us. At that moment, I was extremely thankful that Mothra/Butterfree had been chilling atop my head because she had wanted to come along with us.

I might have been able to stop one or two of the attacks/moves by myself, but there were a total of 9 Pokemon attacking at once, so I would have been unable to stop them all. Thankfully, Mothra had no such problem and easily blocked all 9 attacks, saving not only Rose but all the innocent civilians around us as well. I was not including myself in this since I could have easily escaped or protected myself.

Nonetheless, I did not forget to thank Mothra for protecting us, though she only briefly gave a happy thrill in return before focusing on the two terrorists and their Pokemon. I could feel Mothra's anger, and even though I knew that she would probably use some excessive force against those criminals due to her anger, I did not even try to stop her.

Just as I had expected, Mothra's retaliation came swiftly. She used Thunderbolt to attack/incapacitate the silver stage Pokemon before tying them up with a supercharged Electroweb, that had them lay down immobilized like a sack of potatoes. Well, a twitching sack of potatoes, but the Pokemon were definitely immobilized, especially after she hit them with a Thunder Wave just to make sure they were paralyzed and to reinforce the charge of the Electroweb.

I kind of pitied the Pokemon just a tiny bit, even though they had attacked me and a crowd of innocent people. That they had only been following orders might have been the reason for that. Nonetheless, their situation was still better than that of the two terrorists/criminals who had initiated/ordered the attack.

Mothra had not forgotten them and had asked me to briefly immobilize them while she dealt with the Pokemon. Once she had those secured, she focused on the two felons, and actually used her String Needle to attack/incapacitate them. Each criminal had four strings pierced through each one of their limbs before wrapping said limb to the body, turning them into a human stick. Their mouths got bound as well.

She also made sure that each string had something called Agony Powder on it. Agony Powder was an alternate version of Itching Powder that she had come up with together with Optimus. The poison was not lethal, but the extreme version of Itching Powder caused a feeling that was similar to ants biting one's flesh.

I had them test the move on me, so I knew what I was talking about. Usually, Agony Powder would be painful and distracting in a bad way, but it wouldn't be as extreme as what these two were feeling right now since they got to experience the equivalent of four doses of Agony Powder, one for each string.

Mothra knew what she was doing when she used the String Needle Agony Powder combination against these two. Obviously, her sole purpose was to punish them without killing them for what they had attempted to do. I initially let her be since I was quite pissed at those two as well, but it seemed the dose of Agony Powder was a bit too high since I could feel that the criminals were being pushed to the brink.

I could not allow that to happen, so I knocked them out since I still had to rummage their heads for information which would become exponentially harder if they broke, mentally. Not to mention that it would most likely be seen as an excessive action on our part.

I also told Mothra about the unexpected development so that she knew that the increase in potency of Agony Powder was apparently not linear. With the situation resolved, I asked Rose if she was okay, and after she said that she was fine, I called Detective Monroe to share the matter of the attack with her.

It took less than three minutes for Detective Monroe, Loneson, along with a team to arrive, and I used the time to delve into the minds of the two unconscious people. Considering the circumstances of their capture, I was much less restrained while reading their thoughts and memories.

I was looking for any information I could find on their group's actions ever since they escaped, along with the current location of their boss/group. The two had last seen their boss when he asked them for updates on the mission to take me out. Apparently, he had given them that mission two days ago.

Anyway, their last meeting had been roughly three hours ago, so there was still a chance that we could find him at that place if we acted fast enough. I also made sure to note down any potential safe houses and future plans that these two knew, in case the boss managed to slip away again.

I shared my findings with the detectives as soon as they showed up, and Detective Loneson actually called the SPU to request their participation in the raid of the criminal boss' current hiding place. The SPU Captain asked him to give them 5 minutes, and while we were waiting for the team to show up, I gave them a rundown of the events.

The two remained quiet on Mothra's method of capture and simply praised us for keeping the civilians safe as well as the swift capture of the criminals. The SPU team actually showed up in just 3 or so minutes, and as soon as the 12-member-strong team arrived, Detective Loneson and Monroe mobilized half of the team they brought along, and the two groups left for the criminal boss' hideout.

I wished them luck and safety since the chances that they were going to confront the criminal boss were rather high. After all only 6-7ish minutes had passed since the attack and the subsequent events. I had quietly offered Detective Monroe to accompany them, but she told me to stay with my date since I was currently off duty and as such couldn't participate in the mission.

I knew that she was right, so I accepted the situation, though I did tell her that this was not a date, but a meet-up between good friends, which earned me a raised eyebrow and an amused smile.

Anyway, once the team was gone, the police officers who had been left behind took over the follow-up matters, and after answering a few standard questions, I was allowed to leave. Rose and I resumed our walk to the restaurant, though much quieter than before.

I once more asked Rose if she was fine, and she assured me that she was okay. Rose explained that she simply felt a bit surprised since she had not expected to experience an attack like that while she was inside a human city. She then joked that her time with the Police during her practical year had been much more boring than this.

Following that, the mood returned to normal, and the rest of the evening passed by normally. I did get a message from Detective Monroe sometime after dinner that notified me that they had captured the criminal boss and two more of his enforcers.

However, it seemed that the right-hand woman managed to escape along with one of the enforcers, or more like she seemed to have teamed up with that enforcer and abandoned her boss. It appeared that they actually used the boss as a distraction to escape.

Anyway, at the end of the message, Detective Monroe told me to enjoy the rest of my weekend and informed me that I would be interrogating the boss on Arcday.
