396 CH29 (393), Opening The Flood Gates (3)

The breakthroughs did not stop there. It was as if Ryujin's breakthrough had opened the floodgates, and there was no stopping until everyone was done.

The day after Medusa/Gyarados's breakthrough, Abyss/Gyarados also completed her limit-breaking. However, today was Dialday, and she gave me the news right before dinner, so I had to ask her to wait for a bit.

Thankfully Aby did not mind delaying her breakthrough for a few hours since she had also been looking forward to our traditional movie night. That was also why I emphasized that it was Dialday since my parents and I always tried to watch a movie together on Dialday evenings if possible.

Being the nice guy that I was, I naturally streamed/displayed the movie inside Utopia as well, so that my Pokemon could watch it together with us and I even provided them with a variety of snacks and drinks to go with the movie.

Anyway, since I got Aby's approval I shelved her breakthrough for the duration of dinner as well as our movie night and only retreated to my room and subsequently Utopia at around 10 p.m.

The good thing was that everyone was already gathered since they had been watching the movie together. They were still snacking and talking about the movie when I arrived and I greeted them before approaching Abyss.

I confirmed that she had raised all her parameters to SSS and praised her for her success before asking the others to give her some room so that she could go through with her breakthrough to the gold stage.

Aby's breakthrough went just as smoothly as Medusa's breakthrough had, so I inferred that she had similarly not unlocked anything during her transition to the gold stage, but I did not mind that. Her reaching the gold stage along with the increase in potential was good enough for me. Anything else could be seen as a bonus. If you got it, great, but if you didn't, that was fine as well.

So, once Aby's breakthrough was over, I went up to her and congratulated her with a big smile on my face. She bend down and I scratched her chin just as she liked making her purr in happiness. The others rushed up as well to congratulate her and I chose to check Aby's status while they were doing that.

Well, just like the other two before her Abyss had her potential raised to deep purple, but unlike them, she was missing a bit to reach the halfway mark, being a bit short of 40% as she was.

Still, it was enough to help her potential reach the aurora grade when she broke through to the dark gold stage, even if any unforeseen non-extreme events cropped up, so I was happy. Looking at the next part, I was not surprised that the modifier and talent section remained empty, so I moved on.

Her parameters were pretty good with all D's and two C's, showing that she was already close to the limit of the (mid) gold stage. She only had to raise another two parameters to C to reach the (high) gold stage, so Medusa had gained a promising competitor.

Well, for the next part, all I could say was that all Gyarados had been focusing on other stuff, so Abyss had yet to finish her resistance training as well. Her electric resistance training was still in progress and I would have her focus on that for the next while, along with her parameter training.

I doubted that she or the others for that matter would really focus on their type-resistance training before reaching the (high) gold stage, but after that, I would steer them in that direction. Considering the state of her move pool she could definitely afford it.

The number of advanced moves she had was impressive enough, not to mention her many proficient moves. Even her dark energy manipulation had reached advanced mastery as a result of her hard work in this aspect, so Aby could absolutely afford to neglect the move aspect for a period.

I would have her focus on her combo/custom move Scary Snarl whenever she needed a change of pace since the move was a pretty useful one. It was definitely better than working on Thrash, and I could not bring myself to have her work on Fake Tears too much.

Anyway, after I was done checking Aby's status screen, I told the others that the celebration for her would be held tomorrow since it was already pretty late before I left Utopia.

The next day, after breakfast, just as I was about to enter Utopia for the party I promised them, the foreman called me and told me that the propositions for the playground were done. The documents arrived just a few minutes later and after looking through the 5 designs I chose the one I thought would give the kids the biggest chance to blow off some steam.

Climbing frames, springboards, cushioned floors, swings, sandboxes, and a lot of other stuff kids could use to burn off energy were listed in the plan. I did a quick check on the various items the company listed and saw that all of them were of great quality with good evaluations/ratings.

Seeing how all items were among the best and most kid-friendly of their kind, I did not mind the steep price that came with the design and directly gave the construction company my reply.

They could go ahead with the 150k Poke project once the orphanage/building was complete. I would be wiring 50k over once the items arrived, and the rest once the playground was complete.

Many would think that the price was exaggerated but looking through the prices I could see online I was inclined to disagree. That was especially the case since I remembered people paying to enter comparable playgrounds that were admittedly much larger than mine, but it was still worth the price.

Anyway, after dealing with that, I entered Utopia and spent the next three and a half hours until lunch celebrating Aby's breakthrough to the gold stage with the others. I left after that, letting my Pokemon continue without me.

I spent the rest of the day, and weekend with my parents. Aside from the 90 minutes dad and I spent on his ground training each day, we mostly spent the weekend relaxing. We actually went out to stroll in the town center on Grouday. After dinner at one of the local restaurants, we spent two hours at the bowling alley, where I cleaned up both mom and dad.

It was a fun weekend and all of us felt refreshed when the new week arrived on Arcday. No idea if it was because of that or not, but dad managed to properly sense the ground energy for the first time during our morning session.

Dad's cheering broke him out of the zone and he lost the feeling. He cursed a bit before he refocused, but it took him nearly 5 minutes to get another feel of the ground energy.

Still, now that he had managed to locate the ground energy not once but twice, the subsequent tries were going to become easier, so I congratulated him. Mom who had come over when dad cried out in jubilation did the same.

The next step for dad was to reach the point where he could sense the ground energy whenever he wanted, and once he did that, he would have to be able to do so without me focusing/gathering the energy around his immediate area.

I was going to gradually reduce the energy concentration to help with that. Only after he managed to do that, would he have to work on interacting/moving the ground energy he was sensing, and I straightforwardly told him that, just to remind him that he still had a long road ahead of him.

Still, I tried to be nice about it to avoid taking the joy out of his success. Thankfully, his success happened at the exact halfway point of my vacation, so I still had two weeks I could spend with my parents. That meant he had two weeks to reach the point where he could sense the ground energy without me, and I was optimistic that he would manage to do so.

My own training as a Ground Elementalist was going smoothly, but Tier 3 with the other two paths seemed to elude me. Seeing how forcing the issue was useless, I switched to raising the mastery with my unlocked aura and psychic abilities, in hopes that they would give me the spark/insight necessary to advance.

I knew I could reach Tier 3, my talent and affinity with aura as well as psychic energy ensured that, but my spread-out focus was working against me in this case. However, I had already known that for quite some time, and others had pointed that out quite a few times.

Yet, I did not mind my advancement stalling a bit since it was not as if I was wasting the time I was stuck at the peak/limit of Tier 2. I was still really really young so I could easily afford to spend some extra time on reaching Tier 3, especially considering my theoretical lifespan, which would increase even further after my breakthrough.

I had set myself a personal time limit before I began to fully focus on breaking through, and that was either once my prowess as a Ground Elementalist caught up with the other two paths, or after the first year of my official journey.

Taking into account that my journey was still 3 years away, not counting the current one, I was pretty sure I would fulfill the Ground Elementalist condition first. Nonetheless, I honestly did not believe that it would take me that long to reach Tier 3.

Regardless of my own "troubles", dad dragged us out to celebrate his success that evening and we first went to eat dinner at a local steak restaurant before moving on to the movie theater. I obviously streamed/relayed the movie to Utopia for my Pokemon as well, much to their delight and they got to enjoy an impromptu movie night as well.

For the next few days, I went back to my rhythm of somewhat focusing on one of my Pokemon while also spending time with the rest. I had to admit that I had genuinely thought that another member of the Sinister Six would have finished their limit-breaking by now.

However, Palkiday arrived, and yet nothing happened even though nearly a week had passed since Abyss broke through to the gold stage. Obviously, one of my Pokemon decided to choose the moment I thought that to slap me in the face.

Well, okay not exactly at that moment, but an hour before lunch, two hours after I had that thought, Jade/Gyarados informed me that she had gotten that feeling of wholeness, which my more experienced Pokemon had started to associate with completing their limit breaking, so I obviously went to my room and entered Utopia to check her parameters to see if she was right.

She might have mistaken the feeling, even if the chance for that was not high. Nonetheless, a quick look confirmed that she had indeed raised her last parameter to SSS, so it was with phantom pain on my cheek that I called the others over so that they could be present for Jade's breakthrough. I was obviously kidding about the phantom pain since I had absolutely no reason to feel like that.
