643 CH24 (638), Gotcha

The light show went on for a while, but that was normal for an Eevee since an Eeveelution always meant that the Eevee was going through a complete/absolute change. Well, at least for the currently known Eeveelutions that was the case. This might change once someone discovered whether a normal Eeveelution existed or not and how one would go about triggering said evolution.

Either way, the light show eventually settled, revealing Borr/Glaceon in all his glory. I made my way to his side, and from what I could tell, he looked pretty much like any other Shiny Glaceon would. Well, aside from his size. Not that he had become a giant or anything like that. It was just that Borr, like all his fellow evolved Eevee Squad members, was just distinctly above average in size.

Regular Glaceon were on average 80 cm tall and 100 cm long; 150 cm if one included the tail. Borr on the other hand was about 120 cm tall, without counting the ears, and 140 cm long, 220 cm if we included his tail. That made him a tad bit smaller than Nyx/Umbreon had been when she evolved and about the same size as Jean/Espeon when she evolved.

My observation got interrupted by the Eevee Squad, which rushed past me and doggy-piled Borr to congratulate him on his evolution. I had to chuckle at the sight and allowed them to stay like that for a minute before I freed Borr from the Eevee(lution) pile and hugged him. I congratulated him before I set him back down. The others who had joined us began to congratulate him as well, and I took a look at his new/updated status sheet.

'Name: Borr

Species: Glaceon*

Gender: Male

Age: 6+ years

-

Type: Ice*

Potential: Deep Purple (64.98%)*

{Purple (95.56%) -> Deep Purple (64.98%)}'

With Borr now being a Glaceon, specifically a Shiny one, he had joined the apex circle since his BS/RV value had broken past the 600-point barrier. Interestingly enough the known regular ice-type Pokemon had no members in that group, at least if we looked at their basic racial value set. Legendaries were obviously not included in this. Only if we included certain ice types with genetic modifiers, such as Borr, did the ice group manage to have some of its members in the apex circle.

Nonetheless, I had already known that this would happen. It was his potential section that gave me a truly pleasant surprise since the supplement bonus he had received during his evolution was quite a bit higher than I had predicted it to be. The bonus was a hair's breadth away from being 70%, which was 20-30% higher than I had expected it to be. Thanks to this, Borr was actually slated to attain aurora potential during his breakthrough to the dark gold stage, unless he ended up losing some of his potential for any reason.

I directly shared the good news with Borr and the others before continuing to look through his status, and it was no surprise that the next change was in his ability section.

'Abilities: Snow Cloak*, Ice Body*

Talents: None

Affinities: Normal, Ice*'

I had to admit that I was a bit sad about the loss of Adaptability since it was such a useful ability. The loss of Anticipation was practically unimportant compared to that. Either way, Borr had both of his abilities replaced, and seeing how both of his new abilities were dependent on the presence of a snow/hailstorm, learning Hail was definitely the first thing Borr would do.

While the ability to somewhat blend in with the surroundings during a hailstorm was useful, it was the increased regeneration speed granted by Ice Body that took off the sting of losing Adaptability. Nonetheless, I was seriously hoping he would regain it when he gained his third ability upon attaining light aurora potential, though I was a bit doubtful whether that would truly happen.

Anyway, I acknowledged his new affinity before moving on. Naturally, Borr's parameters had not changed due to his evolution. However, I was expecting his endurance and energy capacity to advance to a B-value pretty fast due to Glaceon's impressive RVs in those areas. Still, moving past this section as well, I came upon the area that had undergone the most extensive change on his status sheet, and some would probably say the most unfortunate one as well.

'Immunity:

None {Ghost removed}

-

Resistance:

Ice (Minor)*

-

Weaknesses:

Fighting (Minor), Fire (Minor)*, Rock (Minor)*, Steel (Minor)*

-

Standardized:

Fighting (in progress)'

Borr lost his immunity along with his normal typing, and while he gained a minor ice resistance in turn, he also ended up gaining three more minor weaknesses. That was on top of him retaining his original one, and while he had been working on his weakness towards fighting-type energy, it did unfortunately not receive the big push it needed to complete that undertaking, so Borr would have to keep working on it the regular way.

Due to this, the usual addition of the correlated energy manipulation and Icy Wind felt like some major good news.

That the presence of Icy Wind would help Glaceon learn Hail faster was a bonus I/we would gladly accept. Anyway, after I was done looking through his status sheet, I began taking out everything we would need for Borr's party. My visit to the Pokemon Fan Club and the Grass Hall naturally had to be postponed to tomorrow. I let the party go on until 8 p.m. before asking everyone to do an hour and a half of after-party exercises.

However, I did ask them to head to either their own areas or my area first since I was going to allow Utopia to go through with the habitat modification process that I had been holding back because I did not want to hold the party in a snow/ice-covered place. Once everyone aside from Glaceon, the other Eevee Squad members, and some of our too-curious family members had stepped away, I allowed Utopia to start, and the area we were in began to get visibly colder before snow and ice began to rain down and appear on the ground.

It took a minute or two for the snowfall to stop, and once it did, I used my admin view to take a look at the (combined) Eevee habitat. I saw that around 25% of the area had turned into a snow/ice-filled wonderland, which matched the areas rich in psychic and dark energy belonging to Nyx/Umbreon and Jean/Espeon, though their parts of the territory did not look all that different from the rest unlike Borr's snowed in place.

Once I had a picture of the situation I told those who had stayed for the transformation to start training as well. While they did that, I headed to my own area to do some training of my own. I only stopped when it was 10 p.m. I then addressed my team and informed them that I was going to project some funny videos into the sky. I told them that those who wanted to watch the videos with me or eat the snacks I was going to take out should come over, or they could stay at their own place since they could still watch the video from there.

In the end, everyone came over, and we kept watching funny videos until past midnight. The next morning we did our usual morning training after breakfast, and this time nothing stopped me from leaving Utopia for the Pokemon Fan Club. The fan club had its own rather large building, and they even had their own battlefields for enthusiasts who wanted to show off their Pokemon.

I had already read that Mr. Sukizo was not the local club president, and neither was he the president of the Slateport Pokemon Fan Club. Still, upon entering the building, I could not help my curiosity and asked the lady at the reception if there was a Mr. Sukizo among the more prominent club members. Unfortunately, she told me that this was not the case. I had hoped to see the iconic anime character for myself to see if he was a man of few words here as well.

Still, this did not necessarily mean that he did not exist. it was also possible that he was still too young, or that he had simply not risen to a prominent position in the Pokemon club, whichever club he had joined since there were like 5 or 6 big ones in Hoenn. Anyway, I thanked her for her help and began to check out the place. There were all kinds of photos and models of certain Pokemon placed at certain parts of the building, and people who were hanging out in those specific areas all talked about that specific Pokemon or at least its evolution line if it had one.

Despite the size of the building and the fact that it had 3 floors, it was naturally impossible for all Pokemon to be represented. There were only 63 zones, 21 on each floor, and from what I learned by talking to the fans, which Pokemon/line got its own area depended on the number of fans/members that lobbied on having their favorite Pokemon represented. Twice a year, they held a public poll, and the poll's result was able to influence the final allotment of places to a certain degree.

From what I learned, all Pokemon Fan Clubs determined their interior design like this, at least the ones in Hoenn did, and I kinda like it since it kept the fan groups on their toe. There was always the chance that their favorite Pokemon would get replaced during the next ballot if the support was not enough.

During my time there I noticed a definite bias for Gen 3/regional Pokemon, but honestly, that was not all that surprising. Still, I could not help but be stunned by certain Pokemon that managed to get areas dedicated to them. I mean I understood why Beautifly got a place, it was kinda cute looking and was a "Hoenn native", but I could not help but wonder why Dustox seemed to be popular enough to get a spot as well.

There were some Pokemon that were neither strong nor all that attractive, at least in my opinion, that still managed to have enough fan support to get an area dedicated to them, and I frankly could not understand what these people were thinking. I mean why would anyone like Trubbish or Garbodor? Thankfully, that one had only been added after the last poll and had been the result of some sort of troll lobbying by some joksters.

Anyway, I did get challenged by some of the fans to a Pokemon battle while checking out each area, and I naturally accepted each challenge. The Pokemon Fan Club had an upper strength limit that was set to the gold stage, so none of my stronger Pokemon got to exercise but the rest got a few chances to fight. Most challengers were decent enough trainers, which was good for my Pokemon, but some challengers were simply hobbyist fans who just wanted to show off their Pokemon, and the battles against those were over pretty swiftly.

I did try to match my opponent's Pokemon if possible since I found it funny to face them with their favorite Pokemon. I was able to do that for Thor/Raichu, Gwen/Gardevoir, the Eevee Squad, and Tiamat/Milotic without anyone recognizing me. However, my notice me not field failed against a Gyarados Fan(atic), who recognized me by my simple admittance of having recently gotten a giant Magikarp and that I was looking forward to him evolving to Gyarados.

He directly begged me to show him my variant Gyarados, and since he was not all that quiet while he did that, the other Gyarados fans in the area caught on as well, and I got surrounded by all of them. I ended up giving in to their request, and we moved towards the pool, which the fan club had set up for water-type fans. I brought out the whole Slithering Squad and allowed the fans to marvel at my Pokemon for close to 15 minutes before I recalled them.

I then did a quick retreat, pushed my notice me not field to the maximum, and entered the bathroom, where I changed my outfit. With a new outfit and my notice me not field back online, I continued to hang out at the Pokemon Fan Club.
