349 CH116 (346), Efforts Rewarded

The meeting with Mr. Cameron was pretty short, with him simply congratulating me for the new addition and reminding me that I would be visiting the Togepi habitat on Dialday.

Once I was home, my parents expectantly looked at me and I told them that everything went well. After dinner, we talked about my day and I introduced Tyrogue to them.

We watched a movie, which I redirected to Utopia for everyone else. I mean, Tyrogue got to watch the movie with us, so I felt it was only fair that the others got to see it as well.

Later, after I went up to my room, I did my routine before I entered Utopia together with Tyrogue. As soon as we appeared inside the living room of my Utopia mansion, I began giving Tyrogue the Utopia introduction speech, while Utopia did its optimization process.

Tyrogue noticed some of the changes but my explanation touched upon the reason, so he simply ignored it and kept listening to me. I did have to say that Tyrogue got pretty lucky during the process since two notable changes happened, or rather succeeded, and the great increase in potential was not included in this.

Well, as I said the potential increase was not the reason I called Tyrogue lucky, but it received a great improvement nonetheless, and could in fact be added to the other two as well since Tyrogue was lucky enough that the Utopia boost was just enough to push him straight up to purple potential, even if it had been a tight thing.

Still, the major point I actually meant was the upgrade his talent went through. His talent went from Optimal Balance to Perfectly Balanced, and I could understand why it was called that after reading through its description.

Perfectly Balanced was in essence the same as Optimal Balance, just that the maximum number of aspects/elements that could be targeted during an exercise or training increased from 3 to 6. That meant that theoretically, Tyrogue could train all his parameters at once if he did a good enough job during his training or exercise.

Perfectly balanced also slightly lowered the threshold necessary to qualify for its effect, but the requirement was only marginally lower than Optimal Balance so the improvement in this aspect was not as significant as the first one.

Still, every bit helped, and with this upgrade, Tyrogue's talent had truly turned into a divine training talent that would allow him to save a lot of time. Anyway, this was the biggest change that happened.

The second one was less significant, just something that happened for the first time. While Tyrogue did not unlock any genes or other modifiers during the optimization, he actually got access to an egg move, which had never happened before this.

I mean some of my Pokemon had egg moves, the best example being the Eevee that joined not long before this, but one of my Pokemon unlocking an egg move during the optimization process was a first.

However, unlike regular egg moves which started at novice mastery, allowing the Pokemon to use them from the get-go, Tyrogue only received the knowledge of the move Vaccum Wave, along with a basic idea of how to perform it, so the move landed in the initial mastery section instead of the novice one.

Nonetheless, this still meant that Tyrogue would be able to use the move once he trained it for a bit and raised its mastery to the novice grade. Considering that a Tyrogue's natural move pool was pretty pathetic, every move was welcome.

I mean despite not having that great of a variety, his move pool was actually pretty great for a Tyrogue, which normally only had Tackle, Helping Hand, Focus Energy, and Fake Out in its natural move pool.

All his other moves were learned through hard work and instructions from the other inhabitants of the Tyrogue/Hitmonform habitat, so Vacuum Wave was a welcome addition, especially since it was a pretty versatile long-range option. Something which Tyrogue definitely lacked before.

After I was done checking Tyrogue new status, and with my introduction speech as well, I led him outside to his new habitat. Then I decided to do his welcoming party today, even though it was already close to 10 p.m.

The reason for that decision was pretty simple. Tyson/Machoke would be evolving tomorrow, and I did not want that to overshadow Tyrogue's welcoming party, which would definitely happen if I postponed it to tomorrow.

So I called everyone over to Tyrogue's place and we threw his welcoming party right then and there. I brought out the snacks and drinks and introduced Tyrogue to everyone. We also took our traditional photos, and two hours later a few minutes before midnight I officially ended the party and send everyone back to their own habitat.

Tyson decided to stay at Tyrogue's place since it was his first day in Utopia, and I left after wishing everyone a good night. The next morning I woke up earlier than usual at 5 a.m and went straight to my workshop inside Utopia to finish the preparations for Tyson's evolution.

I already had everything I need at hand since I, or rather we had been preparing and working towards this moment for a while, so all I had to do was complete the last step.

I meticulously checked over each salve, tonic, potion, and lotion I prepared for this moment, while also making sure I had all materials at hand that I needed, or rather wanted for the evolution.

After making sure everything was present, I began mixing the final cream, by using some of the salves and lotions I had prepared beforehand while adding some other materials into the mix, including some blood I had drawn from Tyson yesterday after the party.

I also added a few drops while mixing some of the potions and tonics. It took me a few hours, until 8:57 a.m to be exact, but I finally finished everything, so I packed up all the stuff and headed towards Tyrogue's habitat, where Tyson was at the moment.

I saw him and Tyrogue already up and about, with Tyson having Tyrogue perform some of his moves while giving some tips on how Tyrogue could improve.

I took a quick picture before calling out to Tyson telling him that it was time for his evolution. Tyrogue looked pretty excited at the news as well, and we headed to Tyson's habitat for his evolution since the energy there was denser due to him being stronger.

As soon as we arrived I called everyone over so that they could spectate the evolution before I began pulling out the stuff I prepared. I asked Tyrogue to move to the others who were keeping a respectable distance around Tyson.

I began applying the final lotion and salve I prepared this morning all over Tyson's body once Tyrogue was gone. The moment I finished covering every inch of Tyson, I began placing materials around him for extra energy.

Then I finally had Tyson open his mouth and poured the two tonics I made in there. He gulped them down without hesitation, and once he had done that, I stepped back and gave him the go-ahead signal. He immediately began to shine brightly, showing that he had initiated the evolution process.

I could feel the energy of Utopia being pulled towards Tyson and the same was true for the materials around him. The light he released also shone brighter, and the evolution went on for around a minute before the light began to die down.

Once the light was completely gone, everyone could see Tyson in all his glory as a now Machamp. All the stuff I daubed on him was gone, and Tyson himself was checking out his new body.

He was flexing his new pair of arms, and having each arm perform different actions. He also occasionally tapped his legs at different points and with different intensities.

I went up to him while he was busy checking himself and he noticed me just as I made it in front of him. I congratulated him for his successful evolution, and he laughed before using his new arms to pull me up and have me sit on his shoulder while laughing.

Seeing his antics the others rushed up and began congratulating him and I just watched from up above. While the others were chatting I checked Tyson's new status to see if and what had changed. I quickly saw the reason why he kept prodding his legs at the beginning.

However, before that, I had to say that my efforts at increasing his potential during the last 2 years had definitely been worth it since those efforts together with the bonus he received thanks to the stuff I prepared for his evolution had pushed him to the limit of Deep Blue potential.

Tyson was on the cusp of reaching Light Purple potential, and I did not doubt that I would be able to push him over the edge during the next few months.

Now moving on to the reason for Tyson's actions. My boy had actually unlocked a talent during his evolution, and Iron Limbs was one that fit him pretty well, so I was pretty satisfied with it even if it was a rather simple one.

Iron Limbs was practically Iron Fist, just that it targeted, or rather boosted all limbs instead of just working on the fists. This meant that while Iron Fist boosted the power of all punching moves by 20%, Iron Limbs boosted the power of all punching, grappling, and kicking moves by 20% instead.

I could easily think of an upgraded version of his talent that targeted his whole body instead, which boosted all physical contact moves. We'd have to see if he ever got lucky enough to upgrade his talent.

So far any talent upgrade only happened during Utopia's optimization, but that was no reason to think that it was the only way. Unlocking and upgrading were not the same things by the way. Still, I was hopeful that breakthroughs, and for others, an evolution, could also be used to upgrade an existing talent.

Anyway, looking at Tyson's move pool, he had quite a few moves that could benefit from his new talent, but there were a few more that I could think of that he could learn to maximize the benefit.

Still, my man Tyson already had a pretty diverse move pool even if he was lacking a bit in the long-range department. Well, he wanted to work on his close range first, so Earthquake was pretty much the limit of what I could do to cover his weakness without forcing him to do something against his preferences.

Still, once I worked through those additions I was planning to make use of his talent, I would have him definitely work on some long-range moves. I even had prepared a good argument that I was sure would persuade him.

It was always better if the Pokemon wanted to do something itself, otherwise one had to invest much more time and effort to achieve the target, so I always made sure my Pokemon were on board with my decisions, and my results spoke for themselves.
