POV: Professor Bill Sonezaki

Location: Johto, Goldenrod City, Bill's Office

*Baam* *Aaaaaa* *Voosh* *Curses* *Clatter* *Crash*

Bill slammed his phone on his desk in rage before releasing a frustrated yell. He then swept everything off the top of his desk full of anger. Papers were strewn everywhere, his computer display was on the floor, and the antique mini-clock he liked crashed against the wall, breaking upon impact.

Bill was already cursing to vent his frustration while everything flew off his desk, and when he saw his favorite clock become an accidental causality of his rage, he proceeded to curse some more. Those b*st*rds over at Oak Labs just could not give him a break.

First he had to tolerate how they destroyed the side projects he invested close to a billion in with their cheaper evolution trigger alternatives for both Leafeon as well as Glaceon, and now, Oak along with his sh*theads had seriously affected the impact his main project would have upon success.

The discovery of Ferreon along with its complementary evolution-trigger Ferrum was now the first major discovery in the last few decades, if not centuries, in the Eevee academic community and one of the biggest discoveries in the overall academic/scientific community. The only comparable finding was the publication of the information on the Toedscruel line, which also happened to come from that old fellow's lab.

Honestly, the only good thing about this was that Bill was lucky enough that the Eeveelution Oak and his cronies had found was not the same one he was researching, or his whole project would have become obsolete instead of just having a diminished value due to no longer being the first one of its kind.

Now, after the discovery of Ferreon, it would be "just" another Eeveelution. Yet, that was still leagues better than having done everything in vain. Bill could cope with losing some extra prestige but if he had lost all his investments, he did not know what he would do.

As it stood, the discovery of a normal-type Eeveelution would still be considered a major discovery. It just wouldn't be as sensational as it would have been if he had published his research first.

What the f*ck was up with that progress speed anyway. Since when did completing a major research project become that fast? Bill had been working on the normal Eeveelution for quite a few years now, and while he was confident he could publish the results in another two or so years, that would still add up to close to a decade of work/time.

Yet, Oak Labs ended up releasing their research within a practically ridiculous period of 1 year. What the hell was up with that? Was all this truly simply due to the addition of that one squirt, or have they been working on the project for some time now and only made it "public" after coming close to completion?

Maybe he should keep an eye on Mikail Geo and his development after all. You know, just in case the early release was truly linked to that kid. If it turned out that that really was the case, then he would have to see about involving the boy in some of his own projects.

POV: Professor Ishiro Serizawa

Location: Kanto, Turquoise City, Serizawa Lab's Gyarados Lagoon

*sigh*

Ishiro released a sigh of disappointment after putting away his phone. He had just received a report that the kid he had been keeping an eye on would be traveling to Rota to join Professor Varon in her project instead of working with him.

He had been consistently sending applications to Oak Labs for the last two years in hopes of having Mikail join his variant project, but none of them were accepted with the reasoning that the boy was working on internal projects.

After learning about the completion of Oak Lab's latest project which Mikail participated in, Ishiro had hoped that his application would have finally been accepted, but it seemed he had raised his hopes in vain. The way it looked, he would have no real chance of getting the boy while Mikail was interning at Oak's Lab.

Considering the practical year after that and the start of his journey, Ishiro was sure that he would have to wait for at least another 3 to 4 years before he had a chance of Mikail considering an offer coming from him to work with him.

It seemed that he would have to consider other ways to make use of Mikail's unique situation. Maybe he could offer some research into one of the existing Magikarp variants in exchange for the knowledge of how Mikail had truly managed to get not one but 6 Gyarados/Magikarp variants.

If that was not possible, either due to lack of interest in the topic or because Miakil felt that his offer was not enough, Ishiro would have to, at least, get his hands on some eggs coming from Mikail's Gyarados. Moreover, in case Mikail did not want his research, Ishiro was ready to compensate him with Pokemon or eggs as well.

That was his only chance since he saw no way to force anything with either his influence or position. Mikail's backing was too big for anything like that. Ishiro would know since he had looked into it just in case to see if he could "help" the collaboration issue along once Mikail's internship at Oak Labs was over.

However, the list of silent and upfront backers behind the kid was truly impressive. Not only had Oak confirmed that he would endorse Mikail after his internship, but the Aura Guardian Order also declared that they had his back.

Aside from those two behemoths of the human world, the Varon family and the Camerons of Rota had also shown their silent support toward Mikail. While they were nowhere near as prominent as Oak or the Order, they were still considered some of the major families of humanity.

Moreover, there were words that quite a few of the Elders of the alliance had an interest in the boy, along with a few of the current champions who thought that Mikail had the potential to become a rival of theirs in the future.

No, if he really wanted to achieve anything as far as Mikail was concerned, it truly seemed that negotiation was the only way to do so.

POV: Professor Michael Cameron

Location: Rota, Rota City Outskirts, Cameron Lab's Primeape Sanctuary

Michael could not help but shake his head in disappointment as he watched one of his assistants head back to the main lab after sharing the latest news on Mikail Geo with him. He had made sure to stay up to date on any development that came out of Oak Labs, especially if it involved Mikail.

That young man had his name on quite a few publications during the last two years that he had been interning at Oak Labs, and Michael could not help but be impressed with the number of results he had brought to the table. He certainly noticed the speed at which any project Mikail took part in seemed to conclude.

The boy truly seemed to be a lucky charm, at least as far as he was concerned, and Michael could not help but be envious of Maria's luck since her request for collaboration had apparently been accepted. He was quite disappointed that Mikail would be collaborating with Varon Labs instead of his Cameron Labs.

He definitely would have to mull over ways to entice Mikail while the young man was in Rota in hopes of having him join his project next. Mikail would already be here anyway, so extending his stay in Rota was not an outlandish thought.

Hopefully, Mikail's luck would be able to keep doing whatever it did. He would be unable to poach the boy over if completing Maria's project took too long. He knew that the youths' internship would end within a year, and he doubted that Mikail would have any time to assist him while going through his practical year.

No, if he did not want to wait for a few more years before he had another chance at pulling the boy over, he would need to do so within the current year. Everything he knew about Mikail pointed to his passion for Pokemon, not only as a researcher, but also as a trainer, and presumably, also as a collector considering the number of Pokemon he had.

Not only did the fellow have quite an impressive number of Pokemon, and Michael knew that the alliance was closing an eye or two there as far as inspections went, but quite a few of his Pokemon could be considered rare/precious or at least uncommon.

Though admittedly there were also a few quite common ones among them, which showed that Mikail did not seem to focus purely on rare Pokemon. Michael began to wonder whether he should look into finding an exceptional Mankey or Primeape that he could use as an incentive to lure Mikail over in hopes of interesting him in his Annihilape project.

If Mikail had a Primeape, he should be interested in a project that focused on the evolution of said species after all. Right? Right! After coming to that conclusion he focused back on the latest data they had gathered on Annihilape, and he could not help but smile when he noticed that his current approach seemed to be working.

POV: Kevin George

Location: Kanto, Sienna City, Family Head's Office

*long sigh*

Kevin could not help but release a sigh of relief after looking through the latest news he received on Mikail. He knew that the boy would become influential and he had been right. Mikail had been an intern for only two years and he already had quite a few achievements under his belt, with his name on quite a few of the papers/patents coming from Oak Labs.

Now Mikail had even been part of the team that had discovered a new Eeveelution, and from what Kevin had heard, he would be joining a lab in Rota for a collaboration project. Not only that, but the other side had even specifically asked for Mikail, and as far as George knew, they were not the only ones that did that.

There were multiple professors, minor as well as prominent, that were interested in the boy and showed an interest in involving him in their projects. Kevin could not help but feel proud that he had foreseen something like this and had sent his grandchildren so that they could befriend Mikail.

Though admittedly, that particular part was a bit too slow going in his opinion since from what he was seeing James and Layla seemed to be in that phase where one was more than just an acquaintance but not really/just yet friends.

Still, that was better than nothing, and he was confident that they would become friends within a few more years. Well, at least as long as they stayed in contact, and Mikail did not show any signs of wanting to stop contacting his grandchildren.

Another pleasant thing Kevin had found out was that Edward had started to make use of his ground talent and that he had managed to reach Second Class of Tier 1. That was actually good news in Kevin's eyes since it indicated that Edward was starting to let go of his grudge against the family.

Even if Edward had not completely let go of his dislike towards them, he had done so enough to make use of the trait he inherited from their family, so in his opinion it was only a matter of time until Edward completely let go. Edward may never like their family or want to be part of it, but at least he would be ambivalent towards them which was enough.

As long as Edward remained neutral towards them, Mikail would have no real reason to be unhappy with them. Kevin had made sure that that was the case, and he was actually working towards creating a positive image in the boy's eyes.

He could already imagine the dissenters in the family that kept complaining about his careful/cautious attitude regarding the boy stumbling on each other while trying to bootlick him to get in his good graces once they heard about the latest development on the boy's part.

Kevin won't say that he would not enjoy seeing them scramble like that since he definitely would enjoy it. In fact, he was positively looking forward to the next family meeting.
