473 CH106 (470), Evolutionary Term (3)
Ever since Charmeleon's evolution, Bruce/Zubat, who had only a final parameter lagging behind, has been asking me each day since then, without fail, to check up on whether he managed to complete his limit-breaking training.
Every day, when I entered Utopia, be that after returning from the lab on workdays or for breakfast during the weekend, he came flying up to me and requested that I check his status. Each time that happened I agreed to his request and looked at his status under the amused watch of Moka/Crobat, who always tagged along with Bruce.
Bruce did not let it discourage him whenever I shared that he was still not done yet, and he always came back the next day along with his big sis. I could understand where his excitement came from since he would get to evolve and breakthrough once he was done with his limit breaking, so I simply played along with a smile each time.
Honestly, I was also excited for his upcoming evolution and subsequent breakthrough due to Bruce's deviant gene as well as his Huge Power ability. I was expecting an impressive stage/parameter start from him, and I was curious to see just how impressive it was going to be.
Anyway, this whole thing kept on repeating day after day for over two weeks, which did not damper Bruce's dedication to the mission, right until the start of the fifth week of the month. The new/35th month would start on Mewday of the following week, so the final week had only one day this time around.
Thankfully, it did not take that long until the heavily anticipated event did end up happening and I actually got to give Bruce a positive answer to his question about whether he was done limit breaking or not. When I finally got to tell him on Palkiday, that his limit-breaking was complete, he released a cheer, flew up to me, and gave me a wingful hug, which was quickly joined in on by a happy Moka.
They were both hanging off me for a good minute, but once they had calmed down a bit, they let go and we made our way over to their shared habitat. On the way there, I shared the news on the upcoming evolution and breakthrough with everyone else over Utopia FM.
Once we made it to their shared habitat, I started to pull out everything I prepared for this moment and began setting up the stage while we were waiting for everyone to arrive. Once that came to pass, I called Bruce to my side, and he flew over after getting a final hug from Moka as well as a good luck hug from Togetic.
I had him land on a post I set up for him, and began applying the supplements I prepared for his evolution. Speaking of the supplements, I could not help but think of Moka's contribution to them. She had provided a lot of blood and poison so that I could use them for the supplements. The freely given concentrated and energy-rich blood as well as poison did certainly raise the quality of the supplements, and Bruce would now get to enjoy that boost.
Anyway, after applying the external supplements, I had him gulp down the potions as well as tonics/toxins I prepared, and once he had finished the last one of his drinks, I gave him a few encouraging words before stepping back to join the other in the circle around Bruce.
For obvious reasons, I did not give him a thumbs up but said go-ahead instead, and once he heard that Bruce lit up, brightening up the place with the light of his evolution. This light signifies that Bruce would become a Golbat, and this took place just a few months before his second birthday.
The evolution itself went as smoothly as it possibly could, and once the light had died down, we all got to see Bruce in all his glory, and wow, it immediately became apparent that he looked a bit different compared to a regular Golbat. Not that we had not been expecting something like this due to his deviant gene.
I mean, he already looked buffer as a Zubat compared to other Zubat, and now the beefiness was just more apparent. Not only was Bruce bigger than the usual Golbat, from what I was seeing he had to be close to 2 meters, but he also showed two more "large" differences.
First of all, his body, at least when it did not look just like one giant mouth, looked quite a bit bulkier than a regular Golbat. I believe the main reason for that was his wings since I could actually see that they were a bit bulkier than I remembered them looking on Moka or any other Golbat.
However, the biggest difference lay in his feet. Like his body, his feet were beefier as well, and I did not know how to say this without sounding offensive, but they did not look like sticks. Unlike the regular Golbat, Bruce did not look as if he had skipped leg day his whole life.
Honestly, Bruce/Golbat still looked a bit funny like regular Golbat usually did, but that came with possessing a giant mouth. Still, he was probably the least weird looking one of them all, or the weirdest-looking one, depending on who you asked.
Anyway, I saw Bruce looking around, inspecting his surroundings, properly seeing them for the first time instead of the mental picture he usually got from his ultrasound abilities. We all gave him some time to take in the gift of sight.
Nonetheless, when he stopped checking the area and began inspecting his new body instead, I decided to walk up to him, and just as I was about to step forward, I saw something purple fly past me, heading straight for Bruce. Obviously, that blur was Moka, who arrived beside Bruce the moment my raised foot landed back on the ground.
I was already used to someone rushing ahead out of excitement since it happened on occasion, so I simply continued and joined the two, while trying to suppress the grin forming on my face, due to Moka's antics while checking out Bruce's new body.
I congratulated Bruce on his successful evolution and I actually had to tilt my head up a bit to look him in the eyes since he was nearly a head bigger than me. He looked really happy when he thanked me, but before we could exchange more than a few sentences the others came up as well and took up his attention.
I simply moved on to my usual habit and began looking through his new/updated status screen.

There was the obvious change in species that came with evolution, and a few lines below was the section that really interested me, his potential. Bruce's potential got upgraded to deep blue, and the really impressive part was that the potential increase was just a bit shy of 70%. I was pretty sure that we had Moka to thank for that.
There was a lot of cheering when I shared the good news with everyone, and I saw Bruce, as well as Moka, hugging out of happiness. I gave them a warm smile before I continued looking through the rest of Bruce's status screen.
Well, I ended up confirming that there were no further changes caused by his evolution, so I turned to Bruce and asked him if he wanted to get used to his body first or if he wanted to directly break through to the bronze stage instead.
He chose to get used to being able to see as well as his new form for a bit, and he spent the next hour breaking in his new body, testing it out, pushing some limits, and playing a bit of air tag with Moka, Togetic as well as some of the other flying Pokemon.
After that, I called for a dinner break since we had delayed that until now, and once everyone had eaten their fill, we once more formed the evolution circle with Bruce/Golbat in the middle. Since he could now see, I gave him a thumbs up, and he initiated his breakthrough.
Just like with his evolution, his breakthrough went smoothly as well, and it did not take long before the process was over. I went up to him, and this time Moka even let me be the first to congratulate him before she joined us. The others came over only a few moments after her, seeing the situation as it was, I simply began to check his updated status screen.

Well, his potential came really close to reaching purple, and I was fully confident in helping him reach that point before his next breakthrough. Unsurprisingly, the next few sections were untouched, but they were already extraordinary enough, except for his empty talent section, so I was not hung up about it.
He still had more than enough chances to unlock a talent at a later point. I was perfectly fine with that, I was just hoping that it would be a useful one when it happened. So far we had been really lucky in this aspect, and I was hoping that this particular lucky streak would never break. May the Gacha, sorry, Luck(y) Queen bless us with good fortune.
Anyway, his parameter section was where the second change could be found, and I was happy to see him directly starting from the (high) bronze stage. We had all expected something like that due to the 50% bonus his deviant gene gave his racial values/basic stats, along with his Huge Power ability, which doubled his strength value/stat.
Yet, even with that in mind, I could not help my surprise when I took a look at his individual starting parameters. What the hell? How did that happen? I mean I knew the deviant bonus and Huge power would give him some ridiculous boost, but a straight A, really?
I directly went back to his species section and focused on it to take a look at his base stat/racial value spreadsheet, and I was literally flummoxed when I saw his total racial value/base stat since it was much higher than I had expected it to be.
I mean, I knew the effect of Huge Power, but it was only now, seeing the numbers that I realized how utterly broken that made Bruce combined with his Devinat gene. His strength stat alone was 240, which was only 5 less than the total BS/RV a regular Zubat had. Bruce currently had a BS/RV of 802, which was the highest one of my Pokemon had by far.
Before this, the highest number had been 668 belonging to none other than Moka, but Bruce had gone way past that, and to think that this number would still grow once he evolved to Crobat. I actually did the math this time around, and the number would grow to 937, which was pretty absurd. If Bruce, at some point, ended up unlocking another modifier, then he stood a real chance of gaining an RV/BS of over 1k.
Everyone was curious about the solo face performance I put on, and when I shared the news with them they were just as surprised as I was, at least the majority was. Though, some looked much less surprised than the rest such as Horus/Xatu and Tatsumaki/Alakazam.
Anyway, they went all *oooooooo* and began congratulating Bruce on mass, while he got his stuffing squeezed out by Moka. I had to laugh at the scene, but still focused back on the status screen after a few moments.
In the end, the rest of his status was unchanged, but frankly, the pleasant surprise I got from his parameter section alone was exciting enough already, so I did not mind that one bit.
Since it was already close to 10 p.m., I decided to delay the celebration to tomorrow night since the day after that was Kyoday. That would allow me/us to sleep in. Bruce agreed with my suggestion, so we split up after hanging out for another hour or so.
