Rescuing Gible

May had already come and gone so fast. Only one more month before I become a trainer. A lot has happened since then.

The Pokescanner project I was working on with Clemont was now finished, after almost 5 years. I now had a medium-sized gadget on my wrist, capable of finding Pokemon at an enhanced rate.

Another significant event was the League finally disclosing "everything" they knew about Mega Evolution. Safe to say, the Pokemon trainer world has been shaken to its core.

Now, people are scurrying around, trying to find Mega Stones and Key Stones, either to sell them on an auction website or keep them for their own trainers. They have a whole month head start in front of me, but they won't deter me.

After completing another round of classes, I was driven to Sycamore Labs. I was called into Professor Sycamore's private office, and as I walked in, there was the Professor sitting down.

"Alain, you're here. I need you for something important," Professor Augustine Sycamore said to me. I got serious, ready for whatever task.

"There have been reports of a stray Pokemon attacking lone people at night. As you know, I like to bring in stray Pokemon for my indoor reserve. Everyone else here is busy, so I need you to rescue it," Professor Sycamore instructed me.

"Yes, sir!" I said back to Sycamore before leaving.

If I interpreted the cannon correctly, and I wasn't insane, I knew what Pokemon he was asking me to catch. I grabbed a tranquilizer gun from one of the labs and headed out to catch the stray beast.

Thank goodness the Pokescanner was finally finished. It made my job a whole lot easier, if I say so myself.

Knowing the Pokemon I had to find, I turned on the device and set the filter to "Dragon Type". Now, it would only detect the quantity of dragon energy a Pokemon would have if the creature was a Dragon type.

I moved my hand around as I walked through Lumiose City, trying to find an energy signature. After a moment, I found a signal. I looked at my watch, and it said:

[Energy Signature detected! Type: Dragon!

Star Level: ⭐]

A one-star Dragon! Yeah, that pretty much confirms it! I followed the device's direction, and it led me to a deep alleyway.

I walked into it, and the signal only got stronger as I approached a garbage container. I readied my tranquilizer gun and picked up a few rocks.

I threw the rocks into the garbage container, and each time I did, I heard rustling in the trash can.

I held onto my tranquilizer gun because at any moment, the dragon could run out and attack me. However, something came out, but it didn't attack me.

Right in front of me was the Land Shark Pokemon, Gible. It was a grayish-blue Pokemon that stood on two legs. On each side of the dragon's face, there were pointed fins that further added to its ferocity. The Gible appeared quite sullied, disheveled, and grimy. It was a shade darker than normal due to all the dirt and grime caked into its exterior.

That wasn't even the worst part, though. Gible had cuts all over its body, some deeper than others. There was also loads of dried blood on the Gible too. This Gible was on death's door.

I holstered the tranquilizer gun, not wanting to shoot the Gible. Its condition may already be delicate, and I didn't want to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I walked closer to the Gible, and it didn't move an inch. It's like it wanted to be saved. The Gible wanted to be anywhere but here or in this situation.

I picked up the Gible before rushing over to Sycamore Labs. I ran through the streets of Lumiose, gaining many stares from confused individuals. I finally made it to Sycamore Labs.

As I ran inside, another aide saw me too. She rushed over to me, taking the Gible away from me. Professor Sycamore heard some of the commotion and walked out, seeing the situation.

"Take it to the Medical Bay, stat," Professor Sycamore said to the aide before looking at me. "Good work, Alain."

I walked with them to the Medical Bay, and they hooked up Gible to a bunch of machines. I was told Gible was in critical condition, and it would take a long time before she was fully at full health.

"You did a good job, Alain. Thank God you found her when you did. Any later, this Gible might not have made it to tomorrow," Sycamore said to me before continuing. "Go home, Alain. Study for your next tests."

---

Over the next week, I visited Gible a lot. I comforted her and gave her most of my attention.

Gible was doing better, but it would be a while before she would be at full health.

Gible also became more comfortable with me. Her mood would lift whenever I walked into the Medical Bay.

I couldn't lie; I had some thoughts about the concept of Gible being on my team. I mean, it would evolve into a Pseudo-Legendary, which are the strongest non-legendary Pokemon around.

Even though it had a dual typing that left some glaring weaknesses, mostly to Ice, it was still a strong Pokemon. It was the signature Pokemon of the new champion of Sinnoh, Cynthia. It was worth considering.

Today, Professor Sycamore called me to his labs. I walked in, and there he was, standing there seriously.

"Alain, I need to talk to you, and it's about the upcoming Research Task you're about to partake in, and I should have told you this sooner," Professor Sycamore said to me, looking concerned.

"I need you to watch out for this man right here," Professor Sycamore continued, turning on his projector, displaying an image at the side of his office.

The man he was talking about was the CEO of Lysandre Labs, Lysandre. He was a revolutionary inventor, making the Holo Caster, an amazing communication device capable of using holograms to connect with other people.

"I have my suspicions about that man right there. He's an ambitious man, but I don't know the bounds of his ambitions. Don't get tempted by him, no matter what he offers," Professor Sycamore warned me.

While Sycamore already knew him as suspicious, I knew him as a future genocidist, who wanted to wipe out all life except for people who joined his villainous organization.

"I promise I won't associate with that man," I told Sycamore. I didn't want to make a promise, but I felt good about that decision.

I left the office, feeling a sense of unease.
