29 The Bard (29)

"Take a hike." Paul mumbles as he releases Starly. Ash's seeing this gets pissed and walks up to Paul. Looking at them about to start an argument, I first retrieve my Slowbro and walk next to Dawn.

"They seem lively." I say out loud as Brock and Dawn both nod. Ash with Pikachu on his shoulders gets up to Paul with a mad face. Ash has been stated multiple times to be the exact opposite of Paul and with good reason.

"Why'd you do that for?" Ash asks. Paul still a bit frustrated with his hands clenched starts to calm himself down. He has a Torterra but for some reason he didn't use it. I'll have to assume it's maybe with his brother.

"There's a million other Starly as strong as that one. As soon as I find a stronger one, I'll just grab it." He answers.

"You'll just wh-?" Ash says before getting cut off. Paul walking up to Professor Rowan quickly thanks him.

"Thank you for letting us use your backyard." Paul tells Professor Rowan as he makes his way outside the lab.

"What gives Paul!" Ash shouts but in the end is ignored as Paul keeps on walking. Seeing this scene I sigh.

"They really are the opposites." I mumbled out. It seems to be that everyone had forgotten about my battle somehow which I don't really mind. If anything it's a good thing, Ash will have his focus on wanting to battle Paul now.

I do want to spar with his Pikachu with Chimchar but that can be saved for later on.

"You can battle Paul later, we should start heading off now." I tell Ash while putting my hand on his shoulder. Ash regaining himself ends up agreeing with me and we started to head towards Jubilife City.

…

"You got this Dawn!" Ash shouts as Dawn encounters a Buneary. Brock and I were cheering from the sidelines as Dawn sent out her Piplup.

"Here we go!" Dawn says as she picks up a Pokeball and throws it. The Pokeball instead of going for the Buneary, hits Ash in the forehead.

"Hahaha!" I laugh seeing Ash on the ground. Ash getting back up, covers the injured spot with both of his hands making the scene comical.

"Watch where you throw that thing!" Ash shouts at Dawn childishly. Soon after this they started to get into a small argument as Brock and I were competing against each other in chess.

"Wasnt Dawn trying to catch a Buneary?" Brock says confused.

"Well it's definitely gone now that's for sure." I tell Brock as I check mate him. The two of them still talking to each other don't notice the Pokemon getting away until Piplup points it out.

Ignoring the two bickering, we all went back to the road to make it back to Jubilife. Dawn wants to join the contest and I do as well. It's mostly to help Chimchar.

Chimchar needs battle experience and when battling Pokemon that specialise in dodging with "grace", they would make great targets.

Contests also help out with how efficient a Pokemon uses a move and their overall body movement. It's why someone like Wallace could not only become a champion but also be a top coordinator.

Being able to dodge moves with minimal energy is always a blessing.

Obviously it isn the answer to get stronger as then many other top coordinators would be top battlers, but this is a great method for people who know how to take advantage of it.

"That's great, I could of had a Buneary. If it wasn't for a certain big mouth." Dawn says looking in the opposite direction of Ash.

"I could get myself one easily." Ash replies. Dawn not wanting to take this lying down responds. It seems to be that these two mix very well together. It's not like they completely hate each other so it's fine.

"Next time, butt out" She says as she puts her hands on her hips.

"That's if there's a next time!" Ash says while crossing his hands. Brock already having enough of this was about to clamour them with his fists but suddenly some dazzling lights started to come down from the sky?

"Hey it seems to be the move [Sunny Day]." Brock says with a smile. Everyone looking upwards including me, sees a beautiful sight of the glittering sky which I don't think is how a normal [Sunny Day] works. "Fire types use it to temporarily raise their fire power." Brock adds at the end making Ash and Dawn impressed.

"I suddenly feel so much happier now." Dawn says as a Budew walks up to us in a cute manner. Dawn seeing the cute guy, starts to fawn over the little Budew as Ash pulled out his Pokedex.

"Budew, the bud Pokemon. In the winter it keeps its bud closed to survive the cold but then opens it again at spring."

"I wonder if this is who used the move [Sunny day]." Brock says now interested on who could make the move so beautiful.

"It was." A voice says as we all look to our left and spot a guy sitting next to a tree. "But reflect harden hearts, let the sunny day soften yours. For when your heart is light, your mood is happy and bright" Guy who was sitting down said in a soothing voice as he stood up while playing a golden harp.

All of us now in a happy mood, start to introduce ourselves. The guy who said the poem identifies himself as a bard and was named Nando.

If i remember correctly he didn't know if he wanted to do the gym circuit or compete for ribbons so he ended up doing both. I honestly betted on him winning the league when I first watched diamond and pearl. Because seeing that Ash never won a league at that point, I assumed they built up this guy to clap him in the finals.

"Let's battle Nando!" Dawn asks excitedly. She really wanted some more battle experience after losing to me so I understand why she wants to do this.

I've actually influenced her a lot since we were kids. I taught her a few things in class like ingraining it into her head that evolution is good and that she needs to discipline her Pokemon.

So this time around Piplup won't be causing too much trouble and she will be battling more often.

"Sure why not." Nando agrees as he walks a decent distance away before starting.

In short though Dawn loses because Bedew already had an active [Sunny Day] and because of her forgetting this her Piplup gets rammed by a [Solar Beam].

After this we said our goodbyes and kept on heading towards Jubilife.
