38 Humbling Lesson Two (38)

Looking over at Zoey's Glameow I start to smirk. I've already figured out her battle style already. It may be obvious but it's hard to beat her, Zoey never goes first in a battle and always counters her opponents.

This is not to say she can't attack, but she takes most of her opponents life points by countering with "grace" and stalling for time.

"Chimchar just wait a little bit." I call out. Zoey starts frowning, seeing that I wasn't immediately attacking like in my other battles.

In my battles before this, I would quickly get Chimchar to knock out his opponents as I couldn't be bothered to deal with them. A quick [Fire Punch] and we're good.

"[Hypnosis] Glameow." Zoey shouts. Seeing Glameow charge up some psychic energy, I realise that she doesn't have any other distance moves.

Which is surprising seeing that in a contest she should be prepared for almost anything.

"Chimchar, [Power-up Punch] on to the ground to cloak yourself. Chimchar still a decent distance away from Glameow, is able to hide himself on time as he dodges the narrow [Hypnosis].

With the dust cloud only covering Glameow and Zoey's vision, the judges could see the clean dodge which makes Zoey's life points decrease by a small margin.

-Chimchar use [Ember] as a distraction then go for a [Power-Up Punch- I say through my telepathic link. Chimchar's physical attack is already boosted, so why not use it again as its super effective.

Chimchar jumping out of the dust cloud, uses [Ember on Glameow. Right after this though a faint light could be seen on Chimchar's hand.

*Crackle*

"Alright Glameow use, [Shadow Claw]!" Zoey shouts. Glameow using [Shadow Claw] speedily swipes all of the [Ember] particles and decreases my life points a bit.

But unknown to Glameow, Chimchar is already next to it and gives it a good smack with [Power-Up Punch].

*Boom!*

"Damnit!" Zoey shouts frustrated as her life points decrease slowly but surely.

"Go in for another attack!" I shout. Chimchar starts to run at the Glameow who is now on the ground. Zoey hearing this knows what to do.

She doesn't have many options here so I start to think of my next course of action.

"Dodge with [Bounce] Glameow!" Glameow getting up, uses its tail to dodge Chimchar's incoming attack.

"[Ember]!" I shout.

*Crackle*

"[Aerial Ace]!" Zoey immediately says after hearing me. Glameow doing a dive with a hue of light blue, perfectly deflects all of the [Ember] somehow.

With my life points decreasing and Glameow quickly making her way to Chimchar, I remember one of Chimchar's moves.

"[Fake Out]!"

Chimchar hearing this, quickly positioned himself with his hands to the side and perfectly clapped his hands on Glameows head. Glameow not in the position to dodge, gets hit by Chimchar making it dizzy and cancels its move.

*Slap!*

"What!" Zoey shouts confused. The fans seeing this, started to go wild as they just saw a move stopped just before it was about to hit Chimchar. With the time running out, I had to keep on attacking.

"Chimchar use [Power-Up Punch]." I say with glee. Chimchar just needs one hit to end this whole battle. Glameow not giving up though stands up.

"Use your tail to trap Chimchar's hands!" Zoey commands, seeing that she still had a chance. With Glameow still a little dizzy from the head hit though, has some sloppy movement.

-Dodge to the left and finish it off- I tell Chimchar. Chimchar doing as told, dodges the tail of the Glameow and gives it a strong punch.

*Boom!*

Glameow being sent back to its half of the field, hits the ground hard and gets swirls in its eyes.

"Chimchar wins by knockout! The winner of the Jubilife Pokemon Contest is Aichi Sendou!" The announcer screams at the top of her lungs. The crowd started to clap and cheer seeing the end of the battle.

'What a match.' I thought to myself with the timer stopped at eight seconds. While this was happening, Zoey was kneeling next to her Glameow. Walking up to the both of them, I extend my hand out for a handshake.

Zoey seeing me trying to reconcile something she started, sighs and right after smiles while taking my hand.

"That's was a good match." We both said to each other. After this little interaction I was awarded with the Jubilife ribbon which was broadcasted to the whole region.

'This is some good publicity.' I thought to myself. Hearing a familiar voice in the crowd, I could see Ash and Brock cheering. Looking over at them, I start to wave at them which made their smiles widen.

Jubilife is the biggest city in Sinnoh after all, who wouldn't be watching the contest at home.

"That was an amazing battle Aichi." I hear Zoey say. The gang and I hearing this smile, she was being genuine after all. "You too Dawn, I'd like to battle you again someday." Zoey adds in the end.

"Zoey, will we see you at another contest?" Dawn asks.

"You'll just have to show up." She responds making me confused.

"I know I may not look like much now, but I'll keep on training and beat you in the future." Dawn says with conviction. Zoey hearing this laughs playfully and teases Dawn a little.

"I'll see you guys at the next time." Zoey says while waving at us. The gang and I wave back as she disappears off to the distance.

"So you've gotten yourself your first ribbon. I bet the girls like a successful coordinator~" Brock says with a teasing tone. Brock was bullying me the other day about staring at a girl, and he said if I got a ribbon I would get popular.

Can you blame me for staring at a hot woman though, it was just for a second.

"You guys did great!" Ash chimes in as we all started to head to a resturant to eat. We ended up eating some pizza from a place called Golden Crown which was very delicious.

[A/N: Watching Black and White is such a pain. Team Rocket is peaking right now because they aren't in every episode annoying Ash. But Ash losing to a Snivy bro and the rematch as well 😭 . I might just make B&W not cannon and ignore it, it's not like it's ever mentioned again right?]
