6 CHAPTER 6 – HER FIRST GYM BATTLE (Fixed)

In the previous chapter we see how our heroes finally arrive in Pewter City, we could also see how Ash won his first gym medal, being Phione the MVP of the team to be able to weaken the Geodude and Onix of Brock, and although she also weakened, thanks to that, Ash won his first medal.

With Ash.

We got up early in the morning, mainly because Nancy got up early and dragged me with her, to be honest Pikachu and I had a hard time getting up, but I prefer not to argue in the mornings, it upsets me.

After getting dressed, we all had breakfast together and then went to Brock's gym, luckily for her, the gym had just opened.

"I see you've got up early, this lady seems to really want to fight Brock!" – said the referee.

"I can't wait any longer, I have to get my first medal" – Nancy said excitedly.

"Of course, let me call the leader and you will have your battle" – nodded the referee.

Shortly afterwards a somewhat sleepy Brock arrived, who, moreover, seemed fresh from the bed.

"Good morning," Brock greeted with a yawn.

"Good morning" – I greeted.

"Wow, this lady wanted to fight, we just opened the gym," Brock said.

"I can't wait," Nancy nodded.

Brock shrugged.

"Well, it's not that I'm complaining, let's go to the field," Brock said.

Then we headed to the battlefield and I sat in the stands.

"This... I know it's a 2 vs 2 but I currently only have one Pokémon, can anything be done about it?" – Nancy asked.

Nancy's point of view.

I won't go into details of how I got to Kanto, what I told Ash was the truth and I don't want to bore you again with the same explanation.

The fact is that during these days that I was with Ash I realized something, for some reason that I do not know, the more time I spend with him, the more I blush if he praises me, also since yesterday's hug, for some reason I am more aware of him, do I like him? No, I must not think about it, I must think about the battle ahead, I can't let Ash beat me, the bad thing is that Ash had 2 Pokémon and I only 1, so I didn't know if I could fight with only one Pokémon, that's why I asked Brock.

"Oh, no problem, many trainers start their adventure here so obviously they only have one Pokémon to battle, I'll use the Geodude, as with the previous ones," said Brock.

Apparently there was no problem, but I do not want to fight Geodude, do not misunderstand me, it is not bad Pokémon, but I want to show that I am strong, weakening the Geodude would not be as meritorious as defeating an Onyx.

"Excuse me, but I want to fight Onix" – I said seriously.

"Sure?" asked Brock, raising an eyebrow.

"Although it may not seem like it I have two weeks more experience than Ash, so if he could, so could I," I said firmly.

Brock looked at me for a few moments and then nodded.

"Well, if that's what you want so be it," Brock nodded.

"Good luck Nancy, I trust you!" – he cheered from the stands.

"Pika pii!" – added Pikachu.

Ash is cheering me on, he's looking at me, I can't lose.

We both placed ourselves in our respective positions, as well as the referee.

"The rules are simple, it will be a 1 vs 1 battle, the Pokémon that first weakens, loses, with nothing more to say, let the battle begin!" – said the referee.

"Snivy/Onix, I choose you!" – we both said at the same time.

"This battle will be hard, but don't be discouraged, Onyx, use Dragonbreath!"

I looked carefully at Snivy and nodded.

"Counter it with Leaf Tornado!"

A tornado of leaves and a dark blue breath collided causing a shock wave.

"Onyx, take advantage and use Iron Tail!"

Onyx roared and used Irontail on Snivy.

But Onyx is a slow Pokémon, that's its weakness and watching yesterday's combat I could see all those weaknesses.

"Skip it using Leaf Tornado!"

"Sni!" exclaimed Snivy.

Using Leaf Cyclone he was able to dodge the Irontail without problems.

"Wow, I'm dealing with real combat geniuses here, Onyx, Dragonbreath!"

"I won't leave you, Leaf Tornado!"

Snivy used his Leaf Tornado and made Onyx back up a bit, but...

"Much like your friend's, Iron Tail!"

Since she was in the air, Snivy couldn't dodge the Irontail and was slammed to the ground.

"Snivy! Are you okay?" – I asked in surprise.

"Sni!" – Snivy nodded.

"What will you do now? Your friend's tricks won't work on me again, in order to beat me you need another strategy, find your own fighting style, don't copy it," Brock said.

My own fighting style, that's right, I won't copy Ash, he has his own style and I must have mine.

"Leer!"

Snivy listened and an invisible wave hit Onyx.

"Nonsense, Dragonbreath!"

"Use Leaf Tornado!"

But it was not to clash powers again, the Dragonbreath brushed past Snivy, but with the Leaf Tornado jumped back into the air.

"Leer once again!"

The Leer hits Onix.

"Back in the air, what a foolish play, Iron Tail!"

"Concentrate the Leaf Tornado on your tail and counterattack!"

I don't know if it will work, but I hope it will.

Snivy listened, but this time the tornado of leaves did not shoot out, but stayed around its tail.

"What the hell?" - said Brock in surprise.

Both tails collided, but this time Snivy did not fly out, but was able to rejoin a clash that resulted in a draw.

"Leer again!"

And another Malicious guessed right.

I think it's time to finish.

"This ends here, Rock Throw!"

Numerous rocks shot out at Snivy, but she already understood my intentions and using Leaf Tornado propelled herself towards the rocks and jumped on top of them.

"What?" – said Brock who couldn't believe his eyes.

Snivy continued to jump until he stayed right on top of the Onyx.

"¿Again?, damn it, Dragonbreath!"

But I expected it, it's time to end all this, Brock doesn't know what I have up my sleeve.

"Stop this, Vine Whip!"

"Did She Knew Vine Whip all this time? Shit," - Brock cursed.

Onyx was very slow and did not have time to charge his attack, when the Vine Whip hit the mark.

The blow was so strong that Onyx fell to the ground weakened.

"Onyx can't continue, it's the victory of the aspirant Nancy!" – said the referee.

"Yes, we won!" – I said as I ran to Snivy and hugged her.

With Ash again.

It was an exciting battle to say the least, at first it seemed to be dominated by Brock, but soon she turned the tables, devised a strategy and won the fight, I must say, she is very talented and has just begun, it seems to me that a future is not going to be easy to win and even knowing how to fight.

"Congratulations!" – I said giving her a hug.

The hug didn't last long, but Nancy accepted it without any resistance, which is perfect, plus I could also see a blush.

"Congratulations on winning, take the medal, you've earned it," Brock said as he handed Nancy the medal.

She picked it up, looked at it enraptured, and then put it in her medal case, by the way, my mother also gave me one.

"Now I recommend you go to Cerulean City for your next fight, but I advise you to bring at least 3 Pokémon, Misty does not usually accept to fight against less, at least you have to have 2" – explained Brock.

"Aren't there coaches who start in Cerulean City?" - asked Nancy.

"It is not the same, those who start do not have medals and are given the opportunity to get it easier, but now that you have one, the difficulty will escalate, I will tell you something, for the fourth gym you must have at least 4 Pokémon in your team if you want to have a chance" – explained Brock.

It makes sense, if you could fight all the time with one it would be boring, it is logical that, the more medals, the more Pokémon you need and the more difficult the challenge, besides that you need 6 Pokémon to compete in the Indigo League is a fact, I, for my part already decided my third Pokémon, Charmander, I know it may seems like a cliché, but I love Charizard and it has two Mega Evolution to choose from, which will make things easier for me, now, Where to find it? I have no idea.

"Anyway I already know which Pokémon to choose, I've been researching myself and I know that by the following routes there is female Nidoran, she will be a good addition to my team" – added Nancy.

That said, and having won our first gym medals, the logical thing would be that we went directly to Celeste, but before Brock recommended us to visit the museum, he says that it is a good place to admire the Prehistoric Pokémon and also to get ideas about additions to your team and yes, you could revive fossils, but that will be in Cinnabar Island, our last stop, How to get fossils? They are usually obtained in the MT. Moon, our next stop before arriving in Cerulean City, I hope we both get lucky and get some fossils.

To be honest, being a Pokémon trainer has many advantages, not only for the fact of having free accommodation, but the entrance to museums and that kind of thing was completely free, when I asked the receptionist because the museum was also free, she simply said that it could be of inspiration for trainers or weigh the possibility of having some fossil Pokémon in your team.

The views were beautiful, there were fossils not only from Kanto, but from all known regions, I also saw one of a Dracovish and an Arctozolt, or at least as they thought they looked, the only one that caught my attention was Aerodactyl, the rest I like, but it is not the same, I would also like to have one in my team, but it all depends on my luck in the MT. Moon, because we will definitely not stay there hours looking, if we find one well, and if not I will find alternatives for my team.

I remember when Nancy told me the other day that her mother loved fossils, well guess who loves fossils too, that's right, Nancy, who was super excited and with stars in her eyes throughout our stay at the museum.

In short, the visit was good and when we finished it was already lunch time, a little later than I usually eat, but a good time to eat, so we chose a restaurant that had many stars in the Rotom Dex and we all enjoyed a good meal.

"Let's go straight to the MT. Moon or do you want to go out tomorrow?" – I asked Nancy.

"It's only 5 pm and we've done everything we had to do here, we'd better leave, according to the Rotom Dex it only takes about 3 hours to get there at a good pace, and since there is a Pokémon Center near the entrance we can spend the night there" – Nancy replied.

That's right, as in the game, there was also a Pokémon Center near the aforementioned cave, I don't remember if in the anime it was like that too, but I don't remember.

Without further delay or waiting, we set off for the MT. Moon, I wonder if tomorrow I will be able to fight for the Gym medal or if I will have to wait, time will tell...
