36 C036 - A very late morning

Pete wasn't half as anxious as Jasmine about the prospect of sharing his tent that was clearly meant for two people who didn't have to be a couple.

So when Pete fell asleep quickly, Jasmine stayed awake with a wildly beating heart and a bright red face. She was tired, and it was hours past her usual bedtime, yet all her wild thoughts kept her awake for a good hour.

After that hour, Pete turned in his sleep and was now facing Jasmine, who could barely make out his sleeping face from the light of Rapidash's and Ponyta's mane outside.

Watching his relaxed face with the two Minccino tails giving him a very bushy afro haircut oddly stole away all of Jasmine's tension. She watched him for a while until her tiredness finally got the best of her, and she fell asleep with a small smile.

Despite the short night, Pete woke up only half an hour past dawn. But since the night was so short, Pete simply stayed asleep with his eyes closed for a good half an hour.

He only opened his eyes when he felt a warm, long breath on his shoulder. Without looking over, Pete realised that he only felt a small weight over his chest, Jasmine must have rolled closer in the night and just released a deep, relaxed breath.

Since it wasn't his fault, Pete decided to stay like this and enjoy the moment. He was sleepy enough to excuse staying in the tent anyway. His pokemon save for Golett, no, Golurk who once more did his 'duties' as a night patrol, were all bound to still be asleep anyway and most of them decided to sleep close to the eggs in the cave to stay away from the early sun.

All except for Sunkern, who was already doing his best to absorb all the rays of the sun shining his way - not that Pete knew that, it was just what he imagined in his mind.

It was past ten in the morning when Pete heard a quiet notification arriving on his tablet. He would have to stand up to read it because he didn't sleep with it in the tent.

Since his farm still wasn't even started, his diligence won the inner struggle, and he reluctantly peeled off Jasmine's arm and slipped out of the tent as quietly as possible.

He was immediately greeted by Rapidash surrounded by Ponyta, Blitzle, and Growlithe sleeping next or on top of her, and the older pokemon was tired but awake.

She regarded Pete with a warm smile that she also directed to the tent with a meaning he didn't quite get this early in the morning, not that it mattered. Pete spent a minute spoiling the flaming unicorn with brushes and scritches and went toward the buckets with water to freshen up.

After all of that, Pete finally fished out the tablet from one of the bags and sat down next to Sunkern to read the messages.

A few of them were from Professor Elm and his team thanking him for the recording of the fight and the evolutions, though his colleagues Becca and Fred commented on the fact that the darkness of the night made quantifying all the variables too hard.

Then there was a message from Carl informing him that they finished buying the necessary building materials for the first part of the construction and that his daughter Luna had stayed up all night finishing three different drafts for the house.

'*Ya better thank my flower properly! The little daisy sacrificed her beauty-sleep for you, and even almost skipped leg day while working out. Reason won though, and she, of course, didn't skip leg day,*' Carl's last message read.

"*You think you could come over today some time before dinner? The Vileplume have agreed to me staying and building a farm here, and our first battle for peace was a success!*"

Carl's response came not a minute later.

'*You were actually not kidding? Boy-o, I was sure you were just pulling out leg and opening a farm next to old boy Milton.*'

"*...will that be a problem?*"

'*Nah, dude. As long as you were serious when we in all seriousness said that logistics will have to be handled by you seriously, we are cool~*'

"*I get that talking like that is like second nature to you, but do you have to type like that, too?*"

'*How else could ya be sure y'aren't messaging with a stranger that stole Carl's phone, baka?*'

Pete's limit for a morning before breakfast was reached, so he didn't respond to Carl's message.

He did browse the designs Luna had sent over even after they went to bed this night, though. He immediately fell in love with the design that looked like Professor Elm's lab just with most of the building inside the hill and one deck on the 'roof' that you could access either from the hill or the glass dome and another deck on the other side of the glass dome just one floor lower and looking over to the lake.

"*Design two!!! Did you get inspiration from the professor's lab? If you did, job well done. I loved his house,*" Pete responded to Luna's message with the designs.

He picked up an empty bucket and some personal hygiene items and went over to the lake under the watchful gaze of Rapidash and Golurk. The three Farfetch'd and two Marill were awake by now and decided to join him since the latter two were sure Azurill was save sleeping in the tent.

Before he arrived at the lake, Luna's answer on his choice arrived.

'*AAAARGH!!! I forgot to put my phone on silent! I didn't even sleep for four hours and now I'm sure I won't get any more sleep!!! I wish I could be angry at you, but Arceus dang it, why did I not put the phone on silent!!*' To which Pete only responded with a 'sorry' and a wry smile he didn't put in emoji form.

Since he could get Luna and Carl over to work already, he decided to also message Sophie for Exeggutor's help, though it was still a little early for her so he didn't put much stock into getting an answer soon.

As Pete was washing up in the lake with the playful Marill and Farfetch'd protection crew.

The Farfetch'd were actually cleaning their feathers just like regular ducks from his old world would and Pete loved watching them do it with a warm smile. His house would get a pond at minimum and a small creak if possible, that was for sure he decided at this moment.

"Hey, aren't you quite the pretty Feebas?" Pete shouted to some pale brown fish watching Pete wash up with rapt attention from the lake a good stone throw away.

The four fish looked to be blushing, but they also decided they couldn't handle the compliment and scooted away quickly underwater.

"Well, it was worth a try," Pete mumbled under his breath at his attempt to make the Feebas evolve to Milotic by starting off with a single compliment.

He would just have to keep at it and come here often. His haul from the second container at the very start held some colorful scales that he could try gifting them eventually. Getting one of the most powerful water pokemon that are considered almost mythical creatures because they are so rare would be worth almost anything.

On his way back to the tent, Pete noticed the tell-tale signs of Teleport in his psychic aura field he kept up as both training and an early alarm system.

"Pete! There you are!"

Instead of seeing just Exeggutor and maybe Sophie, Pete saw the whole family Feelgood arrive. Well, the ones he knew plus an addition he had not seen before. Herbert with a wide smile, Isabelle with a curious gaze looking around and a grumpy Sophie that was clearly woken up extra 'early' by her parents. The fourth person was a young man who looked like a slightly taller, cleanly-shaven Herbert with Isabelle's hair and eye color.

What took some double takes for Pete were the almost twenty bags hanging on Exeggutor. Pete didn't know what they were for since his deal with Herbert wouldn't even come close to filling twenty bags.

"Pete, meet our oldest son, Buddy," Herbert introduced as he walked over to hug Pete with wide outstretched arms.

"Where's our youngest daughter?" Isabelle asked as she looked around, briefly staring at the single tent on his entire field of grass with a small smirk.

"I think she's still sleeping. We went to bed really late," Pete admitted with a scratch to the back of his head before Herbert crushed him in a hug.

"Oho? Why did you go to bed late at night? Did our little flower become a woman?" Isabelle asked as her smirk deepened. Sophie blushed deeply, and Herbert's hug became even more strangling once he heard his wife.

"No, no, you misunderstand. Herbert, please...relea...se....me," Pete coughed out with barely any air in his lungs. He took a step back from Herbert once he was released, took a deep breath, and began to explain.

"We fought an Ariados tribe last night, and they only attacked at midnight. We won with no casualties on our side and even had the fortune of witnessing an evolution each from our teams," Pete explained as he gave Herbert the stink eye.

"So our little daughter is still pure?" Isabelle asked with the smirk never leaving her face. Though, this time, she spoke a little louder.

"Mooom, come on!"

Loud enough to wake up Jasmine and make her embarrassed enough to shout out her displeasure.
