8 Chapter 8: Pokemon Levels and Move Mastery

Prof Oak : so you have a slowpoke gastly and a pidgey.slowpoke and Gastly are in good condition while your pidgey seems to be injured.

Alex: About that, professor I just caught pidgey on my way here and never had the time to take it to the Pokemon center.

Prof Oak: so that's why... Go on take him to the Pokemon center right away.

Alex: Thank you professor I will be right back

After sending pidgey to the Pokemon center Alex returns to find professor Oak looking at slowpoke and gastly.

Prof Oak: oh.. oh.. Alex your slowpoke seems to be at the mid Elite level and has great potential to reach King level and maybe a half emperor level although yogas Li is only at the normal level it also has the same potential as slowpoke.

Alex : mid Elite level?? King?? Half emperor??

Seeing the confusion in Alex's face professor oak understands that Alex does not know about standard leveling system of Pokemon.

"It's like this Alex

01-20----normal level

21-40---- Elite level

41-60----champion level

61-80----King level

81-90----half emperor level

91-99----emperor level

The higher you go the harder to level up, furthermore each level is divided into 4 low, mid, high and top. Normally an evolved top normal level Pokemon will not have any chance of defeating and an unevolved mid Elite level Pokemon. Not only this even a mastery of every move used by a Pokemon is divided into different levels starting from normal, expert, master, grandmaster and perfection.

Pokemon with mastery of the move at expert level will be able to use the movemuch more skilfully than a Pokemon with mastery of the same more at normal level. At perfection level the moves come as easy as breathing to a Pokemon, time required to cast a move at perfection level is very less compared to that at the grandmaster level, Pokemon will have perfect control over the move be it the angle of release power shape anything...... it will be perfection.

On hearing all this Alex is shocked'how come they never told about this in the Anime' thought Alex.

'So that's what the "E" shown near the moves of the Pokemon in the status page represents'

Alex: is there a way to increase the mastery level of a move?

Professor Oak: of course, continuous usage of the move with varying power and speed can increase its mastery till master level beyond that only by understanding can the mastery be increased.

Alex: professor what about knowing the potential of Pokemon is it possible?

Professor Oak: we mainly look at the time taken for a Pokemon to move from one level to the next and compare it is the average time taken by the species of the Pokemon, although this method is not flawless it works better than all other methods discovered up till now.

Alex: professor if you don't mind can I assist you for sometime so that I can learn more about Pokemon and their levels.

Professor Oak: sure you are always welcome Alex
