63 Chapter 62 : Terror!

On being pincered, the Pokemons on Cedric's front died at an extremely fast rate. It was so impactful that other Pokemons in the Tide noticed it. A couple of groups immediately rushed towards the Trainers from the Dojo to flank them as well.

Noticing them, Eliza's subordinates teleported the entire group back into the city, leaving the Tide very unbalanced and allowing the army to strike hard once again. After a short break, the Dojo unit teleported behind another section of the Tide and did similar damage, causing tens of thousands of deaths once again before being forced to teleport again.

Saffron City continued fighting with these simple tactics. The Army stayed on the defensive while the Psychics continued sowing discord into the Tide by confusing a few Pokemons non-stop.

As a result, the casualties kept mounting. Once the Trainers in the Army got tired, they were quietly and quickly replaced with the Trainers in the reserves. In this way, they ensured that the Trainers stayed fresh and got an opportunity to heal their Pokemons and get sleep.

By the day ended, nearly a million Pokemons from the Tide had been killed! By comparison, less than a couple of hundred Trainers had died and around a thousand were injured.

The death toll was so low because the Psychic Trainers would keep an eye on the Trainers fighting on the frontlines and teleport them back whenever they were in danger. However, they couldn't do the same for the Trainer's Pokemons as that would have been too much for them to handle.

As a result, even though only around a hundred and sixty Pokemon Trainers died, the death toll of Pokemons belonging to the Trainers exceeded 20 thousand!

Even so, that was still only a fraction of what it would have been in any other city. Loud announcements were made throughout the city, informing everyone about the situation with the Tide. Hearing the reports, the morale of the army and the remaining Trainers became very high. The people hiding in bunkers were relieved as well.

Of course, even though the day had ended, it didn't mean that the war had ended. Standing on the balcony, Orion let out a yawn and thought, 'It looks like the battle will continue throughout the night. The intensity is still very high.

However, Sabrina still hasn't made any move. I guess the leaders of the Tide still haven't shown themselves. They probably want to use others as cannon fodder to tire out the city before they make a move.

Looks like the battle might last around a week as the death toll is generally higher on the first day and decreases as the days pass until the Tide goes on an all-out offence. Only after that offence is stopped and eliminated, will it be safer to see the Tide from a closer distance. Oh well, I'll take a nap.'

Orion returned to his room and went to sleep. As he had speculated, the intensity of the battle decreased slightly. Having been on the receiving end of the Dojo's guerilla warfare, the Tide began keeping some groups in the rear on all fronts to avoid getting pincered.

It decreased the effectiveness of the Dojo's tactic. However, Saffron City wasn't concerned. With Pokemons being forced to stay in the rear, the number of Pokemons who attacked the city decreased considerably. They continued to slowly whittle down the Tide.

For the next 3 days, less than a hundred Pokemon Trainers died daily. On the other hand, more than a million Pokemons were killed in these 3 days. Around 40% of the Tide was entirely wiped out!

On the 5th day, the battle seemed to progress as usual, when Sabrina's eyes snapped open! She teleported behind Eliza and released all her Psychic Pokemons while sending a telepathic message to all Psychic Trainers on that front, 'Release your Psychic Pokemons and use Light Screen!'

Everyone immediately recognized her voice and released their Psychic Pokemons. They were confused about where to use the Light Screen, but they received their answer in less than a couple of seconds as they saw a massive beam of light heading towards the City!

The Pokemon Trainers who were engaged in a fight as well as the ones in reserve or resting, immediately noticed the beam of light. So did the Pokemons in the Tide. For a few seconds, everyone stopped fighting. Fear flashed in the eyes of the Pokemon Trainers and the Pokemons as they sensed the massive energy inside that beam!

Standing on the balcony, Orion had a serious expression as well as he wondered, 'What the hell is that? It looks like a Solar Beam. But… How the fuck can a Solar Beam be that freaking large? It has a radius of a couple dozen meters! It looks more like a massive Kamehameha than a solar beam!'

For a moment, Orion became fearful as well. He quickly instructed, "Kadabra, if the barrier breaks, teleport all 3 of us into my roo…!"

Orion's pupils dilated as he noticed something more horrifying! Over the horizon, 8 more small dots appeared in the sky! In the blink of an eye, those dots became as large as the first beam of Light!

Orion, Kadabra and Rhydon immediately retreated from the Balcony and closed the door. They continued watching through the glass door while Orion said, "Change of plans. Directly teleport us next to the entry point of the special bunker for the Trainees if the barrier is destroyed."

Kadabra nodded. He was even more scared than Orion. The aura of the attacks was too high. It was felt by every Pokemon Trainer in the city! Seeing those beams horrified everyone!

The beam of light was indeed a Solar Beam, or rather, Solar Beams. It wasn't shot by a single Pokemon. Instead, tens of thousands of Exeggutors had launched Solar Beams at the same time! Their goal was to destroy the entire Saffron City!

Close to a hundred thousand Pokemon Trainers were sleeping behind the safety of the barrier. A good portion of them could die if the beams broke the barrier and exploded around them. If the beams hit where the bunkers were, then the people who were hiding there could end up dead as well.

Most importantly, the morale of the Pokemon Trainers would drop heavily! Were their families still alive? Would they stay safe? What if the next beam was targeted at them instead of the city? Such questions would flood their minds. It would reduce their focus and thus increase the casualties considerably! Even though the Saffron City would still be able to defend successfully, such high casualties were unacceptable to them.

Even Sabrina and Eliza had solemn expressions. Neither of them had expected such an attack. Unlike them, two people had smirks on their faces!
