52 Chapter 51 : The Fourth Member!

After returning to Saffron City, Orion moved straight towards the Pokemon Center and met Nurse Joy. With a smile on his face, he said, "Nurse Joy, I need your help. I just caught another Pokemon."

Nurse Joy said, "For you to be this happy, it looks like it was a good catch. Follow me."

Orion followed her while saying, "Yes, it was."

The two entered one of the wards. Orion released his unconscious Bulbasaur on the hospital bed. Immediately, surprise appeared on Nurse Joy's face. She exclaimed, "How did you find a Bulbasaur?"

Orion chuckled and replied, "I just got lucky I guess."

Nurse Joy smiled as well and said, "No wonder you are so happy. Getting a Bulbasaur before you start your journey is a very good sign."

Nurse Joy wasn't aware of the potential of Orion's other Pokemons. However, she was aware that the Psychic trainees would receive a Silver potential Psychic Pokemon from the Gym. If Orion had a Bulbasaur on top of that who had Silver potential at the very least, then he'd have a huge advantage over others.

She checked up on Bulbasaur and said. "She isn't very injured. That's good. You should aim at catching your Pokemons in this manner. Catching her with the luxury ball was a good idea as well. I'll heal her. She should be awake in half an hour. You can stay in this room if you want to. It'll help you bond with her more easily."

Orion nodded and said, "Alright. I'll stay here."

Nurse Joy and her Chansey immediately got to work. Since she had taught Orion how to treat an injured Pokemon previously, she asked him to help her with the Bulbasaur as well.

In around 25 minutes, Bulbasaur woke up. She was feeling slightly weak but didn't have any injuries. She curiously looked around. Realizing that she was in an unfamiliar environment, she immediately became very nervous. Her eyes landed on Orion and she immediately felt a connection with him which caused her to relax a bit. However, she still didn't trust him entirely.

"Chansey Chansey"

Seeing Bulbasaur being so nervous, Chansey immediately calmed her down. Her gentle aura finally made Bulbasaur calm down slightly. Orion slowly approached her with a gentle smile on his face.

Seeing that she didn't make a move, he gently patted her forehead and said, "Don't worry little girl. You are safe here. No one will attack you."

Though she was quite young, Orion could see signs of battle on her body. He understood that she had been in several fights and that her journey from her colony to Saffron City wasn't a peaceful one.

Bulbasaur relaxed after feeling his comfortable touch. Seeing that, Orion a smile appeared on Orion's face. He sat on the bed and placed Bulbasaur on his lap and gave her a light massage. She immediately fell in love with the massage and relaxed.

Orion chuckled internally while thinking, 'It is much easier to bond with Pokemons if the Luxury Ball is used. It would have been great if I could stick with such Poké Balls after I start my journey as well. Unfortunately, that will be very expensive…'

Until now, Orion hadn't bothered to check the potential of his Pokemons even after he caught them. He only had some guarantees with Bulbasaur. The others were all just his estimates and he did those months after he had caught them.

Going forward, that wouldn't be the same. One of the Pokemons that Orion definitely wanted in his team was Gyarados. Since there was no dearth of Magikarps in Kanto, Orion intended on catching hundreds and even thousands until he found one with Gold or Platinum potential.

With his Rhydon, Machoke and Kadabra, he was no longer afraid of anyone chasing after him because he had a Platinum potential Pokemon. After all, Elite Trainers won't chase after him for just one Platinum potential Pokemon. They could get one themselves as well. As for Advanced Trainers, Orion felt that he could handle them. If he couldn't, he could always teleport away.

Assuming he needed to catch one thousand Magikarp to find Gold potential Magikarp, that would cost him 200 thousand Pokecoins if he used ordinary Pokéballs. And that was assuming that he caught each with just one Poké ball. If he used Net Balls instead, then the price would enter millions!

As a result, it was better to just catch them with Poké Balls and later shift them into the appropriate Balls after he bonded with them.

Orion stopped thinking about the future and focused on his Bulbasaur. He said, "Bulbasaur, are you interested in coming on a journey with me."

Bulbasaur was surprised by the sudden question. She asked, "Bulba?"

Orion replied, "I'm planning to go on a long journey soon. I will visit every place in this world. As we become stronger, I will also challenge every strong Pokemon to a fight. Are you interested in such a journey?"

Bulbasaur was surprised by Orion's words. She took a few seconds to process his words. Soon after, she became excited and said, "Bulba! Bulba, Bulbasaur!"

Orion chuckled and patted her once again while saying, "Great! Welcome to my team!"

He thought, 'It looks like my guess was spot on. She left the colony because she was tired of living in the same place and wanted to see more of the world. And, it appears that she is fond of battles as well.'

He immediately called out his three Pokemons and said, "Everyone, meet Bulbasaur. She'll be our newest family member!"

Bulbasaur became nervous once again on seeing 3 large and strong Pokemons. She still remembered how scary Rhydon's footsteps were. However, the fear went away quickly as Orion's Pokemons warmly greeted and welcomed her.

"Rhydon"

"Machoke"

"Kadabra"

Orion caressed her forehead and said, "No need to be afraid. In the future, if someone scares you, they will beat them up!"

Hearing that, Machoke quickly flexed his muscles. Orion let Bulbasaur go and let his team bond with each other.

He looked at them while thinking, 'I now have a good Grass type Pokemon as well. Bulbasaur will cover Rhydon's weakness to Grass and Water. Though I can't use her as a tank until she evolves into Venusaur.

Though there are still other weaknesses, like two Pokemons begin weak to Psychic, Ice and Flying and defending against Ghost and Dark type Special attacks would hurt as well, it is a decent start.

I need to diversify my team now. The first thing I need is a couple of good Water types so that I won't be helpless while fighting on water. Luckily, Kanto has a good array of Water Pokemons. Apart from Gyarados, my options are Blastoise, Golduck, Starmie, Slowbro, Slowking, Kingdra, Cloyster, Lapras, Politoed, Poliwrath and Kabuto.

All are good in battle and almost everyone can fulfil a secondary role. So I won't have an issue. Apart from it, I also need a good Flying type Pokemon to carry me. These two are the basic requirements. Then I begin thinking about the other aspects.

I guess I'll begin my journey by travelling from Saffron to Cerulean. I should be able to catch good Water type Pokemons in the river that flows to the north of Cerulean City.'
