50 Chapter 49 : Shopping Spree!

Orion continued analyzing, 'Anyway, even though I am not sure how much potential it'll improve, these crystals should be extremely useful for Rhydon! Selling them will be plain stupid.

That said, the crystals I have seem to have less energy than the ones displayed in Silph Co. I guess the Golems were using these crystals to improve their potential. Regardless, these should be good for Rhydon.

In addition, I got a lot of stuff to sell. Perhaps I should buy one Psychic Essence crystal for Kadabra as well.'

Having made his decision, Orion made a quick visit to the Poké Mart and sold off the things he didn't need, which was the majority of his loot. The only things he kept with him were some berries, Rock Essence crystals, Ground Essence crystals, a few Hard Stones, a few Sharp Beaks and a couple of other items.

The rest were all sold off. The high number of nuggets he got from the Golem hill meant that Orion could raise 3.4 million Pokécoins! He quickly went to the Silph Co. to exchange for things that would be helpful to him and his Pokemons.

En route, Orion fell into a dilemma. He wondered, 'Should I invest this money into buying a Psychic Essence crystal for Kadabra? Or should I instead buy Pokemon specific food for my three Pokemons?

From what Cedric said, I have just enough to buy Pokemon specific food for my 3 Pokemons for a month. That said, will it be better for my Pokemons or would it be better to just buy the crystal?'

Orion thought for a bit before deciding, 'Though a Pokemon's food also plays a crucial role towards its growth and can improve its potential, the quality of the food needs to be consistent over a long period of time. There is no meaning if I buy it just for a month and can't afford it again. I'll buy the crystal for now. More expensive food can wait until I have more reliable means of earning money.'

Orion reached the Silph Co. and went to the floor that sold resources and moved to the counter that dealt with Essence crystals. An old man was behind the counter. He looked at Orion carefully looking at the Essence crystals and asked, "Are you interested in buying them, boy?"

Orion nodded and asked, "Is there any chance that the Psychic Essence crystals can be available for less?"

The old man chuckled and answered, "Their prices haven't decreased for decades. I wouldn't count on it, young one."

Orion curiously asked, "Why are the evolution stones available for so cheap then?"

The old man answered, "The evolution stones are required for Trainers to evolve their Pokemons. For that reason, the League subsidizes the lowest grade of evolution stones. That is why you can buy them for a few thousand Pokecoins instead of a million.

In addition, you can buy only one Low grade evolution stone of each type. If you want more, you'll need to show your Pokemons which need that evolution stone. Only if you have multiple Pokemons that are close to evolving will a shop sell them to you.

As for the Psychic Essence crystal, it doesn't trigger an evolution. So, unfortunately for you, it isn't subsidized by the league."

Orion sighed and said, "Alright. Just give me one then."

Orion had to fork out 2.75 million Pokecoins to buy just 1 Psychic Essence crystal! Almost all the money he had just made disappeared in a flash! The old man was surprised but didn't say anything thinking, 'Looks like he has quite a formidable family or a strong backer. Lucky brat!'

Orion sighed internally while feeling the Psychic Essence crystal, 'It's a never-ending blackhole… Why is training Pokemon so complicated? Why can't it be just like the anime… I could catch any Pokemon that catches my eye and become the Champion in less than a year! Instead, I'm stuck here taking so many risks to earn money that disappears in the blink of an eye!

Still, this crystal feels quite good. It looks like even I can absorb this energy… Unfortunately, Kadabra can better utilize this as compared to me. It's better to make him stronger first so that he can make earning money much easier for me. I can focus more on myself then.'

The old man's eyes widened as he saw the Psychic Essence crystal floating above Orion's hand. He quickly realized, 'He is a trainee from the Gym?'

Orion asked, "By the way, you said something about the lowest grade. Can you tell me the grades of such Essence crystals, their cost and whether I can buy them here?"

The old man answered, this time more respectfully, "Yes. The Essence crystals and the Evolution stones are divided into Low, Medium, High and Top Grades depending on the amount of energy inside them and the purity of the energy.

Only Low grade crystals and stones are sold openly. If you want to buy Medium and High grade crystals and stones, then you'll need to enter into a deal with the suppliers. They are available in Silph Co. as well, but you'll need to talk with the higher managers.

The Medium grade generally costs somewhere between 10 to 25 million Pokecoins, while the High grade costs 100 to 200 million Pokecoins. As for the Top grade, they are almost never available for sale, unless you get it due to your connections. They are put up for auction and generally sell for at least a billion Pokecoins."

Orion wondered, 'How many colonies will I have to plunder before I can reach such a number? Sigh, I hope I can find a more efficient way to earn money.

Though it might seem that I can plunder stronger colonies and get more stuff once my Pokemons grow stronger, that won't be the case. The colonies that have Elite Pokemons generally have tens of thousands of Pokemons. It can even exceed a hundred thousand.

Even when my Pokemons become Elite tier, I won't be able to plunder such colonies. Even if they leave 1% of their Pokemons behind, that might be too much for me to handle.'

Orion nodded and said, "Thank you for the information, old man."

Orion left the floor. The old man saw him leaving while thinking, 'Even if he has a formidable background, there is no way anyone would provide him with Top grade Essence crystals. Even Elite Fours and Champions need them for their Pokemons. Whoever can afford it will use it for their own Pokemons.'

Orion stayed in the Silph Co. and just moved to another floor. Though the Psychic Essence crystal cost a lot, Orion still had around 850 thousand Pokecoins left. This meant that he had plenty of money to buy the two TMs for Kadabra and for the food of his Pokemons while starting the journey. So, he decided to spend money on himself.

The first thing he bought was a chainmail to wear under his shirt. It was extremely light and yet extremely sturdy. It would protect Orion from most physical attacks, though he would still feel their impact. It was more useful in stopping any sharp attacks such as Peck, Slash and Horn Attack. Though not perfect, it was better than not having anything.

The next thing he bought was the highest quality of running shoes. The boots were streamlined with a modern design, incorporating air precision technology. It allowed Orion to jump and run at a much faster speed. Though not significantly, it also increased the strength of his kicks.

He followed it up by buying a needle launched and fixed it on the arm guards he had bought previously. Orion planned on keeping poisoned needles in there so that he could counterattack quickly in case he was ambushed.

The last thing he bought was a few sets of clothes that were made of much better materials. Equipped with his new gear, Orion left the building while thinking, 'Now it feels like I am ready for my journey.'
