"I have no more active research projects left. I am not really keen on taking more. Hence, I decided to go on an adventure two months later. Other than training my Pokemon and participating in the league, I would also like to explore a lot of places I think I must go. I had a few research projects in mind, but I couldn't get proper ideas. I think I should broaden my horizon a little bit " said Alex to Professor Oak, as both of them were having much together.
"I don't oppose that. In fact, I very much approve. I myself started out on my adventure when I was 14, and what I learnt during that time I was out there was an invaluable reason I am here today" said Professor Oak.
"Too bad I couldn't actually evolve Magneton" sighed Alex.
"I believe you when you insist that Magneton has an evolution. Just keep that faith. I am sure you will find the solution eventually. Maybe you can explore some natural electrical anomalies when you are on your adventure. It may not be what your Magneton needs to evolve, but it certainly will give you some valuable insights for what kind of electromagnetic energy is required" comforted Professor Oak.
It had been 6 months since the Nature Chart and Berry Tabel had been released. The name Research Burns gained a considerable amount of fame. Due to the preparations by Professor Oak, the Alliance had passed laws against arbitrary nature changing. Only Psychic Pokemon above a certain stage would be allowed to change the nature of any Pokemon, and their trainer had to get a certificate to do so legally. There would probably be a few rule breakers, but at least in the major cities, no incidents of brain dead Pokemon due to Psychic meddling was reported.
Alex couldn't figure out the real world equivalent of Protector, Magmarizer, Electirizer, or how to evolve Magnemite yet. Hence, he decided to drop research and get started on his adventures.
Magneton was level 53. It had broken through the Elite stage, and grown only by 3 levels since last year. But was normal for the extremely slow increase of strength to happen after level 50. He hasn't found the correct way to evolve it to Magnezon yet, but he was hopeful. Alex checked its stats.

Alex was planning to evolve Charmeleon after a week or so, Magneton as soon a she discovered how to do so, and Happiny as soon as he received an Oval Stone.
Oval stones were incredibly rare, as they were essentially the degenerated and petrified eggs of Chansey. Since the only source of Chansey was from the Joy Clan, the same went for Oval Stones.
He had already asked Amelie if she could get him a decent one, and she had said she would look into it, which Alex automatically read it as 'I will check with my Grandmother.'
Alex was hopeful of receiving an Oval Stone from them though. His 'father' had made another major breakthrough, and had disappeared for 'more research' soon after. The Joy Clan probably wouldn't drop the only connection they had to Researcher Burns. Other than the Joy Clan, quite a few sources had 'coincidentally' got his number, and tried to stay in touch.
"Well what do you know" thought Alex as he grinned while staring at the message he had gotten from Amelie, saying her grandmother had a top quality Oval Stone. But his smile faded, as he saw the conditions attached to its delivery to him.
"A meeting in person with Researcher Burns" thought Alex, considering the pros and cons of this deal.
