Alex looked at the newly evolved Slowking, with a smug grin on his face.

He had also prepared a bunch of research, experiments, and justification for his suspicion that King's Rock was needed for a Slowpoke to evolve into a Slowking.

Slowking was not a completely unknown Pokemon like Politoed. There was plenty of information, pictures, and even trainers with Slowking. But without exception, all of them evolved in the wild unknowingly.

With the information that King's Rock could evolve two Pokemon, then its value would skyrocket, as people would assume that it could be sued to evolve more.

Alex texted Professor Oak saying he had results, and that he managed to evolve a Poliwhirl into a Politied yesterday.

He texted about Slowking, the evolution of Slowpoke just now. It had been 5 days since the Professor had left, and he would be returning in 2 days.

Alex was mentally having the entire conversation he would have to convince Professor Oak he was a prodigy, and convince him to get on the King's Rock money making plan.

He let Slowking stay in the lake with the rest of the Slowpoke, and ran some experiments to get more data. After he finished, he completed a report that he would be submitting and along with the report for Politoed evolutions, and printed them out.

"Whew, finally finished," said Alex. Now all that was left was his pitch to Professor Oak.

Over the past 5 days, daily training had made his Charmander rise to level 17 and learn Fire Fang automatically. Magnemite had risen to level 25. Charmander's training was at 70%, while Magnemite's was at 30%. Lapras still had a month left to hatch.

Today, Alex decided to experiment with double battles. They were vaguely getting some popularity thanks to some epic double battles by some trainers that were circulating on the internet. There were still no official matches with the double battle format, but there were plenty of exhibition matches cropping up. Plus, Magnemite and Charmander had to learn how to cooperate together of he was planning on adventuring in the wild area.

Alex went to the ranch, and finally got a level 26 Machop and a level 23 Charmeleom to agree to spar with him.

"Go Magnemite and Charmander!" yelled Alex as he threw two Pokeballs.

The two Pokemon came out, and then locked eyes with one of the opposite Pokemon each.

"Today you will have to cooperate with each other to win! Let's go both of you!" said Alex.

Magnemite and Charmander regarded their second opponent also and acknowledged Alex.

"Begin" yelled Alex, giving the opposing two Pokemon the first move. Machop used Focus Energy to start, and Charmeleon fired a Dragon Breath at Magnemite.

"Charmander, use Smokescreen! Magnemite, spin using Gyro Ball to deflect it as we practised" said Alex.

"Charmander blew smoke towards the opposing Pokemon, and Magnemite rapidly spun around, deflecting the Dragon Breath. "Now Magnemite, use Screech! Charmander! Use Dragon Breath at Machop!" yelled Alex.

Both Charmeleon and Charmander could see through the Smokescreen, but Machop couldn't.

Both the Pokemon used the moves Alex yelled. But suddenly, Charmeleon charged out of the smoke and used Scratch on Charmander.

"Charmander! Dodge it, Magnemite use Thunder Shock on Charmelon" said Alex.

Charmander dodged. But Charmeleon had no way to pursue as the Electric type attack was headed straight for it. So it used an Ember. The two attacks barely cancelled each other out.

The smoke had cleared, and Alex looked for Machop. But all he could see was a huge hole in the place where it stood.

"Dig! Not good!" though Alex as he said, "Charmander, use Dragon Breath at the ground if you feel any movement!"

Machop came put right next to Charmander and hit it hard. Charmander endured out and fired a Dargon Breath. Machop stilled and started moving awkwardly after it got hit.

"Paralysis! Nice. Machop will be slower and easier to dodge and hit for a while" thought Alex, and he yelled. "Both of you attack Charmeleon, Charmander, Dargon Tail. Magnemite use Spark!"

Charmeleon regarded the two opponents coming from either side, before focusing on the stronger Magnemite. It ignored both the attacks, and hit Magnemite with a Flamethrower.

Magnemite fell down due to the direct Flamethrower, but Charmeleon also fell. Alex then looked at the Charmander and Machop that was still standing. Noticeably slower than before, Machop ran some distance and dug into the ground.

"Alex looked at Charmander and thought,

"It got hit with only one Dig. Based on the power of the previous attack, Charmander can tank the attack. Not like I have another choice anyway" and said "Charmander, carefully feel for Machop's position. When you find it, take the attack and use Ember!"

Charmander nodded.

A few second later, Machop burst out of the ground and hit Charmander. Alex waited for Charmander to fire back, but only noticed it and falling with circles in its eyes.

Alex looked at the Machop in a daze, and finally noticed its ability was Guts.
