"Hello there little guy! My name is Alex and I am going to be your partner" said Alex.

"Chaar" cried the Pokemon, before proceeding to break the rest of the eggshells and then proceed to much on them.

After it finalised eating the eggshells, it looked at Alex.

Alex picked it up, and put a baby bottle to its lips.

When Pokemon was born, except for a few rare exceptions they would have brittle claws and teeth. They were required to eat liquid food for a while. In the wild, they were usually fed crushed food mixed with water from their parents. But if under human care, they are usually fed with Moomoo Milk.

Moomooo milk was the name of the milk produced by Miltank. Miltank could produce a few litres of milk per day. The milk was extremely nutritious and delicious, popular among both people and Pokemon. The Moomoo farm in Johto supplied Moomoo milk to the entire continent.

The level of the Miltank producing the milk, and the food that it is fed affects the output of the milk. If fed with better food, it would produce more and better quality milk.

The milk he was feeding to Charmader came from a high-level Miltank fed with a special diet to produce the most nutritious milk. He had almost no chance of getting it on his own.

But the Oak Corall had dozens of such bottles in storage, and Professor Oak permitted him to use them freely. Another perk of staying here as a research fellow.

Charmander gulped down the milk in the bottle with gusto. Soon it finished the entire bottle. "Chaar" it cried before curling up and going to sleep. The first week of a Pokemon being born would just be the Pokemon eating and sleeping. They couldn't do much else, but they badly needed nutrition during this time. Their claws, teeth, exoskeleton, and any other body parts they possess becomes harder and stronger rapidly during this time. After a week, this Charmander would have the basic strength to be trained.

Alex pulled up the sleeping Charmader's stats.

"Wow, Charmander has two Dragon type egg moves, and an Indigo potential. My Charizard is going to be a beast" though Alex excitedly. He then took a photo of the Shiny Charmander and sent it to Joseph and Roger. After hesitating for a while, he sent an email to Professor Oak mentioning that the egg given to him hatched and attacked the picture of the sleeping Charmander. Then, he went to sleep.

"Beelllduuuuuummmmm" came a ringing sound, waking Alex from his sleep. He woke up to see a lone red eye in front of his face. Waking up to this was scary at first, but then he got used to it.

"Good morning Beldum!" he greeted. Then he greeted the groggily waking little golden lizard, "Good morning Charmander."

"Chaaaar" cried the Pokemon yawning, and Alex gave it a bottle of Moomoo milk he had kept ready. It started chugging down in the milk happily. Beldum went up to Charmander and regarded it curiously. Charmander ignored Beldum and continued drinking.

"Charmander, Beldum, you guys should be good friends. Both of you are going to be two of my strongest Pokemon in the future" said Alex.

"Chaaar" said Charmander pausing for a while, and went back to chugging the milk.

Beldum circled around his head without a word.

Charmander then went to sleep. He took out a Pokeball and captured the sleeping Charmander. The ball hardly shook before letting signifying capture. Alex decided to let Charmander sleep in its Pokeball until lunchtime, and then went to get breakfast.

"Good morning!" he greeted the old man who was seated on a corner table eating his breakfast.

The old man was named Henry Carville. He used to be an accomplished Pokemon Breeder. After his children were settled, he wanted to live out the rest of his life in peace. Hence, he accepted Professor Oak's offer to work at the Oak Corall, to get residence in the peaceful Pallet Town. He made all the food for the Pokemon on the ranch. Alex wanted to stay on his good books. The man was a treasure trove of knowledge and he recently told Alex the best methods to prepare food for Charmander. He had apparently advised former Champions Blue Oak and Red Fires on Pokemon food too.

"Good morning Alex. You seem to be in a good mood. Did your egg finally hatch?" asked the old man.
