"We are so screwed" thought Alex. Suddenly he heard a robotic voice beside him.

"Pidgeot. A Bird Pokemon, and the final evolution of Pidgey. This Pokemon flies at Mach 2 speed, seeking prey. Its large talons are feared as wicked weapons" sounded the Pokedex in Joseph's hand.

"I did not need to hear that" thought Alex. The Pidgeot looked even more pissed than it looked before.

He imagined the Pidgeot mauling them with its wicked weapons and their corpses being discovered a few days later, infested with Rattata and started freaking out.

It turned towards Joseph and cried, "Pidgeooooot" while flapping its large wings.

Both Alex and Joseph froze, looking warily at the Pidgeot, and slowly started backing away.

The Pidgeot gave another cry and took off, this time landing right in front of Joseph.

Joseph fell down, looking at the huge bird in front of him with horror. The Pidgeot paused for a while, and then hopped two steps forward, and gave another cry.

Alex and Joseph didn't know what to do.

"It wants to see its child" said a deep voice behind them. They looked back, to see a yellow fox like face.

"Alakazam!" yelled Alex happily. It was better to be tossed around by the Psychic than become bird food.

"It wants me to release Pidgey?" asked Joseph in distress.

"No. It wants to see its child and say goodbye" said Alakazam.

Joseph immediately released Pidgey. It looked fine, with the small burns and scratches it had suffered earlier seemingly have faded.

Pidgey looked around and got sight of the Pidgeot. It hopped over to its mother and cooed affectionately while ruffling the feathers of the Pidgeot.

The Pidgeot gave small cries as it did the same to Pidgey. It then looked over at Joseph.

"Pidgeoooot" it cried, and taking one last look at Pidgey, it took off. Pidgey seemed to be sending it off with its cries.

"I thought the Pidgeot would want to have Pidgey released" commented Alex.

"On the contrary, most Pokemon want them or their children to find trainers. This Pidgey looks talented, but talent can take you only so far. It will have to fight in the wild for survival, habitat, and food. It will not always get the best food and sometimes will not have a proper shelter. It cannot travel far away to other places, and usually cannot get precious and useful resources. If it is quite lucky, it may chance upon a precious resource every now and then, but it may be of another type and not suitable for it, and it will have no choice but to shelf it.

On the other hand, if a Pokemon finds a decent trainer, its food will be prepared by the trainer. "How come you are here?" asked Alex.

"I sensed a powerful Pokemon rapidly approaching Pallet Town, and came over to investigate. My Psychic powers can cover a large area. I am partly responsible for the safety of Pallet Town" said Alakazam.

"That is so cool. Thank you for coming to save us Alakazam" said Joseph.

"It is not a problem human child. The Pidgeot did not wish harm upon you anyway. It just wanted to say its goodbyes and beseech you to take good care of its child" said Alakazam.

"Of course! I and Pidgey will become strong together and come back one day, right Pidgey?" asked Joseph, picking up the wistful Pidgey.

"Pidgey!" cried the Pokemon, snuggling up to Joseph. He returned the Pidgey to its Pokeball and then said, "I think I will be going now. Goodbye Alakazam! Goodbye Alex!"

Alex also said his goodbyes and Joseph walked away.

"Counting Charizard, he will have 3 flying Pokemon. Will he become a flying type specialist?" wondered Alex.

He turned around, and saw Alakazam looking at him.

"Hey Alakazam, you got here by teleporting right?" asked Alex.

"Yes" came the reply.

You can teleport while taking another person with you right?" he asked.

"Yes" came the reply again.

"So can you take me back to the laboratory with you?" asked Alex hopefully.

Alakazam gave a long and deep look at Alex, and vanished in a flash of light.

"@#$$#%&$#@" cursed Alex unhappily. He then sighed, and started walking back. It was going to be a long three hours.
