48 Chapter 047

Gary lost. But not by a large margin.

To be fair, the little kid was pretty knowledgeable. He was the grandson of the Pokemon Professor and a future Pokemon Researcher himself. Alex's preparation for the PIT was not enough to know as much as the kid who grew up studying Pokemon in a place where there was abundant information.

After a few backs and forth, the question they started asking each other started getting more difficult. Alex had to get by on guesswork a couple of times. Finally, he decided to kind of cheat, and asked him, "What colour is a Shiny Charmander's egg?"

This question delivered the K.O. Shiny Pokemon were rare enough by themselves. People hardly ever caught sight of one, let alone a Shiny egg. Many times, Shiny eggs would get passed off as an egg laid by another species that somehow ended up elsewhere. If the egg was not laid in the middle of Charicfic Valley, where there was no chance of any Pokemon except the Charmander line living, it may have ended up being considered a random Pokemon egg that ended up in the mix by accident.

So, while the eggs of any Pokemon could be identified with anyone who remembers the colours and description, a Shiny Pokemon's egg was impossible to be identified by its colour, as most of the Shiny egg colours are unknown.

Gary couldn't answer it. That means I won. But the little shit refused to acknowledge it. First, he accused Alex of cheating, asking a question that no one knew the answer to. When Alex showed him a picture of the Shiny Charmander egg he had, he still refused to acknowledge it, saying that it wasn't certain it was a Charmander until it hatched.

Alex suspected Gary was simply trying to buy time to cook up a different excuse on why he didn't lose.

But at least losing the contest made Gary shut up and sulk in peace. Alex started idly browsing the internet using Pokedex for information on the 6 Champions of Pallet town.

The first Champion, who really put Pallet Village, as it was known at that time, was Vincent Oak. He started his journey with a Bulbasaur and dominated the alliance some 60 years ago. He became crowned the Champion of Kanto at that time. He bought all the areas surrounding Pallet Village as he heard rumours that some contractors were going to develop his home town. About 30 years ago, Samuel Oak went in the footsteps of his father, who was already retired, and become the Champion of Kanto. He later retired in when he was still in his 30s and returned to Pallet Town to become a researcher. Pallet Town started accepting a few relatives of the higher up of the Pokemon Alliance, due to a variety of reasons.

Thomas Clay and Gerald Willams were the 3rd and 4th Champions of Kanto from Pallet Town. They were the children of former rangers and were sponsored by Oak Corall.

Around three years ago, Blue Oak, the grandson of Samuel Oak acceded to the post of Champion, becoming the 5th person from Pallet Town to do so. But he wasn't happy for long, as he was kicked off the post less than 6 hours later, by Red Fires, another person from Pallet Town that was sponsored by Professor Oak. Blue become the shortest reigning Champion in history, and Red retired less than 30 days after he ascended.

They both went on a journey to other unexplored areas in different regions afterwards.

Thomas Williams and Gerald Wallace were still residents of Pallet Town, and also Red Fires and Blue Oak left part of their team in the ranch of Oak Corall. This made Pallet town one of the safest places in the world, as the team's of 5 Champions would deal with any intrusions.

Despite all the fanfare of Pallet Town, most of the buildings in the Town were simple buildings with only the basic amenities. No sprawling villas or exquisite condos were present here. This was specifically a condition that needed to be followed by Professor Oak, as the simplicity of Pallet Town was his late father's wishes.

Still, due to the safety factor of Pallet Town and its halo as the 'Town of Champions, " countless people would apply to settle in here every day. But since Professor Oak's and the Pokemon Alliance's permission was needed, the population of Pallet Town was controlled beneath 10,000 people.

Alex was one of the lucky ones who become one in 10,000 by simply gaining the favour of the ultimate boss of Pallet Town.

Checking that there still was about half an hour until Professor Oak returned, he decided to check out the food and cultivation of a Charmander from the Oak Corall's information storage, which he could access from his Pokedex.
