"OH COME ON!!!", shouted Hymer. He just could not believe his luck.
Aggron, Sceptile, and now Blastoise. Everyone lost cause the enemy ranked up during the battle. Hymer felt that he had used all the bad luck of his life in this competition.
Blastoise was already injured and it had lost almost all of its stamina but it had a chance to win. What Axel didn't know and what everyone didn't know was that Blastoise had modified its move 'Shell armor'.
If Blastoise used 'Withdraw' and faced some attack, it could then use 'Shell armor' with 1.5 times the power that it had received as damage. So, he was sure that his Pokemon would win when Alakazam hit Blastoise with 'Thunder' and 'Elemental manipulation'.
However, Alakazam ranked up during this critical time and it could no longer use the move. Blastoise was already very injured and it had lost a lot of its stamina. It could now no longer battle.
Alakazam took 10 minutes to rank up to tier 2 and Blastoise had already fainted by then.

Yet, compared to Charizard, Hypno was weaker. If one were to compare Charizard's talent with Hypno, Hypno would pale in comparison. The battle was not very long. It was around 7 minutes and it ended with Charizard's victory.
The next battle was between Beedrill and Machamp. Machamp was known to have great strength but Beedrill was also very powerful in the strength department. It had the passive move 'Resolve' and it fought with Machamp toe to toe without holding anything back. This battle was also short lived and it ended with Beedrill's victory.
A break of 20 minutes was given for the Pokemons to recover their strength.

Charizard Vs Beedrill

"Damn! I wanted to see the fight of that Shedinja. I heard that it is very powerful.", commented Hymer.
Axel's Shedinja became famous when it fought with Bruno's Pokemon in the league finals. This Shedinja was considered immortal and it would not be hurt by anything.
So, Hymer and others wanted to see it battle. But unfortunately, they could not. They would see it in the finals.
Beedrill was weak to fire and flying-type attacks. So, Charizard had the advantage. Charizard was also able to reach tier 2 way before Beedrill. So the battle between Charizard and Beedrill should have finished after a few minutes.
However, that was not the case. Charizard did win. It didn't use 'Transform' as this was a friendly battle but it took a lot of time for Charizard to win this battle. The battle went on for 10 minutes. Beedrill was able to use its new move 'Bug knight' and with the help of 'Bug house', it was able to restore its health and stamina.
It also had poison-type moves that helped it a lot. The move 'Drill run' was especially effective as it had powered up a lot but Charizard came out stronger.
Its fire-type moves with its ability 'Blaze' made it easy to win the battle. Beedrill was also able to last so much due to its passive move 'Resolve'.

"Charizard and Shedinja are in the finals. Charizard would need some time to recover. After 20 minutes, the final battle of tier 2 king-rank Pokemon would start.

Meanwhile, everyone was stunned. The crowd, the trainers, and even the referee. Charizard had reached the finals with hard work and now it was just giving up. It was Charizard. Its nature should not allow it to give up so easily. So, why was it giving up?
Nobody could understand it but Charizard had given up and Shedinja had become the tier 2 king rank champion.

"I just cannot believe it. That Charizard gave up? Axel must be playing something.", spat out Hymer. He was not liking it one bit. He wanted to see the power of Shedinja but it won without even fighting.
"No, I don't think that is the case. It is a Charizard and I know that like every Charizard, Axel's Charizard is also arrogant. Actually, it is more arrogant than other Charizards.
So, it should not have given up even if Axel said to lose it intentionally.", said Kate.
Kate was one of the members of the Zard family, so nobody knew better than her relating to Charizard.
"So, what are you saying?"
"I am saying that Shedinja is very powerful. It is more powerful than Charizard, so Charizard chose to give up.", replied Kate.
