If one were to look just at its stats, it was weaker than Axel's Mankey but the battle would not be decided just by that. He could not see the level of its moves but he could say that it was just as strong as his Mankey.

Both of them told their Pokemons to use the same move. 'Focus energy' was the cornerstone for Mankey. Axel could say that Liza was a good trainer.
"Mankey, use 'Focus punch'"
"Use, 'Fury swipes'"
Due to 'Fury swipes' that came earlier, Mankey could not concentrate and could not use 'Focus punch'. So, he told it to use 'Karate chop' which did connect.
The battle went on. There was no defending. It was just a physical attack from both sides.
Mankey did dodge 'Focus blast' with a hair breath but it was hit by 'Fire punch'. It also used 'Close combat' and it hit Mankey 1 all over its body. Both Pokemons were equally injured and they looked like they had the same stamina.
However, the tables turned when Axel told it to use 'Beat up'.
'Beat up' was an interesting move. It would summon all the Pokemon in Axel's party and they will attack the opponent at the same time.
Now, looking at its description, it was a powerful move. If Mankey could summon all the Pokemons in Axel's party then Mankey 1 would definitely lose the battle.
Axel had many powerful Pokemon in his team. If it could only summon Charizard, then the battle was over.
However, there were a lot of restrictions on the move. First of all, Mankey could not summon those Pokemon that were stronger than it.
Secondly, since the move was not mastered very well, it could not summon all the members of Axel's party. At most, it could only summon 1 or 2 Pokemons.
Thirdly, the Pokemon could only use one move and then they would disappear.
Fourthly, the Pokemons that were summoned could only use physical type moves.
And finally, it could only use the move 1 time in a battle. The cooldown of the move was around 24 hours.

Mankey could only learn it cause it was an egg move and it already knew about the move.
But this time, luck on on its side. When it used 'Beat up', it was able to summon 2 Pokemons. They were Bagon and Totodile.
Both of the Pokemon disappeared and then reappeared near Mankey. They both rushed towards Mankey 1. Bagon used 'Head butt', its highest level move and Totodile used 'Bite'.
Both of the moves connected and then both of them disappeared. Mankey then used 'Close combat' but Mankey 1 was able to use 'Endure' to endure that hit.
After that, the battle was over as Mankey delivered a powerful 'Focus punch' to Mankey 1
Mankey 1 had fainted.
"Mankey had lost the battle. Axel and Mankey win this round. Axel had won.", announced Frank.
