136 Exeggutor vs Nidorino (Edited)

Just as the smoke was clearing out, Axel shouted "Now!!"

Exeggutor was hit by a purple aura and it slammed on the ground with a powerful THUD...

Everyone was surprised. When the dust cleared, instead of Shedinja they saw an another Pokemon. The Pokemon was a light-purple, quadrupedal and had a single horn on top of its head. It was Nidorino.

Nidorino had hit Exeggutor with a powerful 'Horn drill' coated with poison.

In the crowd,

"What happened? Did the boy change his Pokemon? I must say that it was a good strategy. Exeggutor has been hit" said a man from the Toise family.

"I don't know what he did Ken, but I think there is more than what we believe." Said another man from the Toise family.

Everyone was discussing the event. One of the 2 groups that Axel didn't recognize was people from the league. Another one was just a normal crowd of trainers.

Nobody knew what had happened except for 2 people. One was from the league and another was Angela from the Venu family.

Exeggutor was standing up but Axel could feel that Nidorino was acting differently. It was a bit drowsy. Axel immediately knew what had happened.

"Dammit! It has been hit by 'Sleep powder" mumbled Axel.

Axel was confident that he would win this battle but now he was having second thoughts. Fighting a gym leader seriously was on a whole different level.

He didn't even know when Exeggutor had the time to use this move. Axel immediately instructed Nidorino to back away. He didn't want Nidorino to be in the vicinity of 'Sleep powder'.

But Renee was also not slow. She instructed Exeggutor to use 'Leech Seed'.

Axel's face changed when he heard it. He immediately told Nidorino to dodge the move anyhow. If 'Leech Seed' was planted on Nidorino, then it would be game over. Coupled with the stealing of health points from 'Leech Seed' with an increase in Hp from 'Grassy Terrain', Exeggutor would be immortal in this fight.

Nidorino had successfully dodged the move but the move's success was never in Renee's plan. Just as Nidorino dodged the move, it was hit with 'Confusion'

'Confusion' was a psychic-type move and was supper effective against Nidorino. But the move 'Confusion' was also not the aim of the gym leader.

The aim of the gym leader was,

"Exeggutor, now use 'Moonlight'"

Axel had instructed Nidorino to use 'Focus energy to get away from 'Confusion' while Exeggutor was using 'Moonlight'.

'Moonlight' was a fairy-type move. It was also an egg move of Exeggutor. Moonlight would increase the health points and improve the stats condition of the Pokemon depending on the weather.

Since Exeggutor had already cast 'Sunny day', 'Moonlight' would rapidly increase the health points of Exeggutor and counter the effect of 'Hypnosis' that it had gained from Shedinja. The drawback of this move was it would take some time to cast and the caster could not move during the casting. That was why Renee had to make so much preparation.

But now, with the effect of 'Moonlight' and passive healing from 'Grassy Terrain', Exeggutor had heal a lot of its Hp.

Being a gym leader, Renee had many restrictions. One of them was that she could not change her Pokemon during the battle like Axel. So, her plan was simple. She would start with Exeggutor and make it survive the battle as long as it can. Looking at the result of the battle, she was succeeding. One of Axel's Pokemon was already down and now Nidorino was next to go.

Renee gave herself a hypothetical pat on the back for a job well done. She did not want to lose the gym and her independence so she must win this battle.

The deal with the Venu family was, as long as a young member of the Venu family could beat her gym by the age of 14 then she would concede and be a part of the Venu family. The trainer would have 2 chances and if the trainer loses the 1st time then s/he could challenge the gym a second time with a maximum time interval of 1 month.

She had done a lot of research on the Venu family members and only Axel Blaze was strong enough to win against her. Cause it was very rare for a young trainer at the age of 14 to challenge the gym and win it. Axel was just an exception. So, if she could win Axel this time and another time then the Venu family would have practically lost and it would take a long time for the Venu family to have another genius like Axel.

Now, on to the battle arena.

"Exeggutor, now use 'Barrage'"

"Nidorino, 'Earth Quake'"

'Barrage' was the signature move of Exeggutor. Exeggutor would throw orbs from its 3 mouths repeatedly for 3-5 times. The move was fast. Each of its heads was throwing the orbs at a precise time.

Nidorino still had not gotten out of confusion so the only way for it to dodge was to use 'Earth quake'. 'Earthquake' would dis-balance Exeggutor but Nidorino also cannot move when using 'Earthquake'.

A couple of these orbs had hit Nidorino but 'Earthquake' was also a powerful move. Exeggutor was also affected.

"Nidorino, let's end this, 'Horn Drill'" shouted Axel.

The horn on Nidorino's head started to rapidly spin with purple color. Nidorino had coated its horn with poison. Nidorino started to run and increased its speed and struck the horn in Exeggutor's belly.

Just when the horn made contact with Exeggutor, it also slammed its rugged body into Nidorino. This was Exeggutor's 'Wood Hammer'.

Both of them were affected by the attack but Nidorino was not done.

"Nidorino, 'Sludge Bomb'"

Since they were in close proximity, 'Sludge Bomb' hit Exeggutor hard, and a loud

BOOMMMMM!!

There was no sign of the 2 Pokemons. Both of them were covered in dust and smoke.
