A Powerful Battle

Gyarados gave a huge roar and it started to dance weirdly. Slowking also closed its eyes for a few seconds and then released psychic energy. Both of them had used 'Rain dance' and 'Psychic terrain'.

Gyarados continued the dance but this dance was a bit different cause it was 'Dragon dance'. It completed 2 'Dragon dance' while Slowking was only able to use 1 'Calm mind'.

Gyarados then used 'Sky walk' and flew in the air. With the help of 'Rain dance', it was able to fly easily. It covered itself with a watery aura and charged towards Slowking. Slowking blinked and it appeared some meters away from its original position. 

It had used 'Teleport'. 

Gyarados gave another huge roar….

ROOOAARRRR…

Angry that it missed its target, it turned back again and fired up a 'Hydro pump'. After reaching level 40, the attack was not very huge but it had high pressure and it was deadly. 

Axel thought that Slowking would use 'Teleport' again but it didn't. It instead set up a 'Light screen' and took the attack head-on. The attack would have flown Slowking but it held it in. This must have hurt it additionally cause it chose to stand straight. 

Axel didn't know why Slowking was doing it. It was an intelligent Pokemon. There was no way that it would act that way. It was not Charizard. 

When it took the attack, it used 'Confusion' towards Gyarados. The attack hit Gyarados on its face and then it was confused.

Slowking wanted to take advantage of the situation but something unexpected happened. 

The sky was already dark as it was raining heavily. Gyarados had trained 'Rain dance' very sincerely.

The sky roared and yellow-coloured light came striking down towards Slowking. Slowking's eyes also glowed purple and another yellow light came striking down Gyarados.

Both of them used 'Thunder' at the same time and both of them were hit by each other's attack.

After Gyarados was hit by 'Thunder', it came out of confusion. It was hurt but this was way better than being confused. 

By being hit by 'Thunder', the immovable Slowking stepped back and 

"SLOOWWW"

It cried in pain. 

It turned out that Gyarados had set up 'Stealth rock' around Slowking. So, when it moved, it was hit by the attack. When the first 'Stealth rock' hit it, some of the rocks that were hidden became visible and now Slowking knew where all of them were.

This was the disadvantage of 'Stealth rock' when they had not been properly mastered. 

Suddenly the surroundings changed. Axel could not understand what had changed but when he looked carefully, he realized that the area of 'Psychic terrain' was slowly decreasing and then it suddenly vanished. 

"SLOOOWKINGGGG"

Slowking shouted out loud and then a burst of psychic wave hit Gyarados. It was able to use 'Hurricane' and 'Twister' as it must have realized that something big was going to happen. 

These attacks did block the move but not completely. After tackling 2 moves from Gyarados, that wave of psychic was still too powerful. Gyarados was flown off by the attack and then it crashed to the ground. 

Slowking then gave a big yawn and its already lazy body became even more lazy. Axel could see that it had started to heal. It then finally closed its eyes as it slept peacefully. 

Axel didn't know what that psychic wave was. It must have been a new attack of Slowking. His uncle had not said anything to him. Noah must have been keeping it a secret. 

When Slowking did a big yawn, he knew that it had used 'Slack off'. He had seen it practicing. But the move would not make it asleep. So, the next move must have been 'Rest'. 

Even though Gyarados was flown off by the attack, it was still not down. It was injured but it still had a lot of power. It gave a big roar and used 'Hurricane' and 'Twister' again. Combining both of them during heavy rainfall created a mini tsunami and it was heading towards Slowking. 

Meanwhile, as this mini tsunami was coming towards Slowking, it disappeared and appeared a few meters away. But the move had a large area effect and it hit Slowking and it was blown away.

Slowking had recovered a lot of Hp from 'Slack off' and 'Rest' but it was also losing Hp from this. Since it was hit by the move combination, it woke up and teleported to a safe distance. 

Its eyes glowed and it stared into the sky for quite some time. By that time, Gyarados had used 'Stone edge'. Slowking tried to dodge the attack but some of it did hit it. 

When it stared into the sky, Axel already knew what it really was. It was 'Future sight'. 

'Future sight' was a powerful move that would let the user see a glimpse of the future and use a powerful psychic force to attack the enemy. However, the move took some time to activate and if the move was not mastered well enough, it took a lot of time. 

If Axel was instructing Gyarados, he would have said it to finish the battle as fast as it could. Cause, 'Future sight' was a powerful move. 

The battle went on for 5 more minutes. Gyarados was using a wide variety of moves and Slowking was also not slow. It also used 'Calm down' one more time and its special attack power had increased. 

After 5 minutes, it was clear that Gyarados was going to win the fight. Even though Slowking had some interesting moves, it was slow and Gyarados was very fast. It was tired after using 'Teleport' multiple times. 

BANNNNGGGG

Gyarados was pinned on the ground by a strong psychic force. Slowking didn't waste any time and used 'Thunder' which was very accurate as it was still raining. 

BANGGGG…

The tides had turned but will Slowking take the win? 

Axel could tell that this new move strategy of Slowking was not enough to win the battle. If it was any elemental rank Pokemon, then these 2 moves would have been able to make them injured to the point that they may not be able to continue the battle. 

However, Gyarados was not some normal elemental rank Pokemon. It had been personally trained by Axel and with the help of the system, it was a force to be known for. 

The first psychic wave was 'Future sight'. As expected, it was a powerful move but Gyarados was still standing. 

RRROOAARRR

It gave a loud roar and the intensity of the rain increased. It then started to flap its tail with intensity. Numerous water blades came out of its tail and they were sharp. These blades started to cut Slowking. Each blade left a mark on Slowking's body and some of them were even able to cut it.

Gyarados has fulfilled all the requirements for rank up.

Gyarados is ranking up to pseudo-king rank

A blue and white light enveloped Gyarados. Every people in the crowd that was watching this scene were captivated. It was very rare to see a Pokemon rank up from elemental rank to pseudo-king rank.

Meanwhile, Slowking had fainted. The battle was already over and Gyarados had won. 

Axel threw a powerful water gem which he had gotten from the forest. It was perfect for Gyarados. 

The process of rank up took a few minutes and finally,

Gyarados gave the loudest roar and it started to fly in the sky. It was still raining heavily and no one wanted to stop this monstrosity now. 

"Gyarados, control yourself. You are just feeling the rush from the rank up!!!", shouted Axel.

However, due to heavy rain and Gyarados being high in the sky, it could not hear Axel. It was now in its own world.

Red called out his Gengar and told it to use 'Hypnosis' to Gyarados. After using multiple 'Hypnosis', it fell asleep and now the sky also started to clear and the rain stopped. 

It was very hard to control an uncontrollable Gyarados. Thankfully, Red had helped Axel in this issue. 

Gyarados would take some time for the next battle but surprisingly Ninetales surrendered. It knew that it could not win against Gyarados now so there was no point in battling. 

It could be argued that Gyarados should now fight in king rank category cause it ranked up to king rank. But the names of the Pokemon had already been decided, so Axel didn't do this. 

Many people from the crowd wanted Gyarados to fight in pseudo-king rank category but Axel had made his decision. 

"Due to surrender, Gyarados had won the competition in the elemental rank category. The battle of pseudo-king rank and king rank will be held tomorrow. Thank you all for coming here.", said Axel.

The crowd was not happy to go so fast. They wanted to see more battle but it was already pre-evening now. After the end of every battle, they had taken a break.

It was now 7 p.m. The family was having a barbecue and they were talking about today's events.

Tyranitar won the uncommon rank and Gyarados won the elemental rank. All the Pokemons congratulated them. Pidgeot was not happy that it lost. It lost the first battle. Before it had won the battle in the common rank category and now it had lost the first battle.

It felt that it had made no progress. Axel had to make it understand that it lost the battle cause it just ranked up to elemental rank. Pidgeot was very competitive. After hearing the reason for its loss, it decided that it would not rank up to pseudo-king rank in the next 6 months. It would be the most powerful elemental rank by that time and win the competition. 

Axel had no problem with this decision. He wanted his Pokemon to have a strong foundation but none of his Pokemon had been in elemental rank for so long. However, Pidgeot had a lot of time. 

Axel had around 2 and a half months left before the start of the league battle. The league battle would take around a month or 2 to finish. There would be a lot of trainers who would participate in the Kanto league battle. 

After that, he would go to the Johto region and he had to catch all new Pokemons due to the Johto region's rules. So, Pidgeot would not be participating in any competition until he finished up with the Johto region. 

It would participate in the battle against the lone trainer and also in the tide but that was it. 

So, it had a lot of time to train and be powerful enough.

There were some changes in its stats. First of all was its health which had risen to 5000. It was a good amount of health for a Pokemon that had just reached pseudo-king rank. 

Second was the mastery of the moves. Some of the moves have crossed the threshold. Axel looked at the description of each of them.

Hydro pump (Level 43): The size of the 'Hydro pump' had decreased but its pressure had increased. With 'Water manipulation', the power of the attack was huge. 

Water manipulation (Level 40): It could now manipulate the water more easily and fastly.

Rain dance (Level 41): The power of water-type moves increases by 40%. Previously it was only 20%.

Tail Blade (Level 40): The number of blades had increased from 7 to 20. 

Aqua Tail (Level 40): It is much more coordinated and more powerful.

  (Level 45): There is higher air pressure on both the right and left sides of the tail fins separately, giving it more power

Outrage (Level 42): There are fewer chances for Gyarados to be confused after using this move.

These were some good changes. Gyarados had become a powerful Pokemon. All of his Pokemons except for Steelix and Nidoking had joined the barbecue. 

Nidoking wanted to reach King rank as soon as possible. Axel had told it that he would tell the concept of the new move when its special attack stats had reached SS rank. That was why it was training in poison training ground and special attack training ground all the time. 

Steelix was training for only 1 reason. That was to beat Gengar. It knew that since it had recently ranked up, it was nowhere as powerful as that Gengar. It had observed Gengar and it could tell that it was true. 

So, it told Axel that it would be training. It also told Axel to teach it a new move but Axel declined. The battle would be tomorrow and it could not learn a new move by that time. Even if it could, the move would take some time to get properly mastered. 

So, Axel advised Steelix to train in its body stats and its existing moves. He pointed out some of the moves that were on the verge of crossing the threshold and told it to focus on it. 

Axel knew that Steelix would not be able to win against Gengar. But he didn't want to say it in its face. So, he just told it to train harder.
