5 Chapter 5: First Battle!

After 4 hours...

It has been 4 hours since Nurse Joy started treating Psyduck, and she hasn't come out of the operation room yet. I'm kinda worried about Psyduck as he has become one of my Pokémon.

Tapping my foot on the ground continuously, I pondered when Nurse Joy will come out.

As I was pondering, the operation room's red light turned off, and I sighed in relief as it means the operation has successfully ended.

As she walked out of the operation room, she opened the white mask that was on her face and continued to walk toward me.

"Psyduck is now fine but he's still somewhat traumatized by the experience he faced in the past. He's unconscious right now and would most likely wake up tomorrow, so I recommend taking a rest and please treat Psyduck with care as it would help him."

Nurse Joy said with a serious expression as I nodded at her words and then started to make my way toward the room on the second floor.

Upon entering, I headed straight away to the bed, lay on it, and closed my eyes to sleep....

In the morning, at 5 AM, I woke up and then freshened up a little and headed to the room where Psyduck was.

After a minute or so, I arrived at the room where Psyduck was staying. I opened the door and entered as I saw Psyduck being fed by a Chansey.

As Chansey and Psyduck noticed and looked at me, Psyduck looked at me with a grateful expression as I saved him yesterday, and Chansey looked at me normally as she left the room.

"Uh! Psyduck! I'm Alex. The one who saved you yesterday and the guy that got you through your previous trainer!" I said as I scratched the back of my head, not knowing what to say.

Psyduck looked at me without any expression as he continued to stare at me.

"Uh! This might not be the wisest thing to say, but since your trainer has abandoned you and left you to me, I've got to be responsible for you. So, how about it? Becoming my Pokémon isn't that bad, you know!" I said as I smiled at him, who looked at me with a thoughtful look.

"And I'm also not like him! Who abused his Pokémon. I'm not forcing you though! You can choose to refuse, and I'll let you stay at the Pokémon Center." I said as he finally looked at me with a look that says "I've made my decision."

"So, what do you say? If you want to be my Pokémon, just come toward me. If not, then stay where you are, and I'll understand your decision." I said as I extended my hands.

Psyduck looked at me with a little bit of hesitation for a sec before he jumped out of his bed and came toward me slowly.

He came toward me slowly and then grabbed the hand I extended. I smiled at this as I brought out an empty Pokéball and touched his forehead with it as he was caught without any resistance.

"Haha! Now, Pewter City's a piece of cake for me!" I said as I laughed and left the Pokémon Center.

After I got out of the Pokémon Center, I opened up the system and looked at the map for some time to see which road's the best for me.

I decided to head to Viridian City as I closed the system interface and thought, 'If I always avoid Pokémon, how will I be able to become a strong trainer?'

Then, I started to head toward Viridian Forest. On my way, I saw some Rattata and Nidorino, but I avoided them as I have no intention of catching every Pokémon I see on my way.

After 3 hours, 8 AM in the morning, I arrived at the entrance that leads to Viridian Forest.

Without any hesitation, I entered Viridian City with my hands inside my pocket.

After some time of walking, I saw a Bug-type trainer walking toward me, and as he saw me, he smiled as he looked at me.

'Bruh! Did I encounter a gay?' I thought as chills ran down my spine at the thought, and I was about to get away from him.

"Hey! You're a trainer, right? Do you know what happens when two trainers' eyes meet?" He said as he grabbed the Pokéball from his waist and said with a smile.

"Yeah! I know!" I said with a glint in my eyes as I was excited to battle for the first time and use the knowledge of Pokémon I've from my past lives to the test.

"It's battle time." He said as he threw the Pokéball he was grabbing in the air and from it, a Metapod came out.

'Huh? A Metapod? Seriously, from so many Pokémon, you just had to capture this?' I thought with a strange look in my eyes as I also threw out Charmander's Pokéball.

"Charrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" it let out a war cry as soon as he came out and looked at me.

"Charmander! It's our first battle! Let's show them the result of your training." I said with an excited smile as Charmander nodded at me and looked at the Metapod with an arrogant smile.

'My first battle and an easy one at that.' I thought as I started to focus on the battle.

"Metapod, use Harden!" The Bug-type trainer commanded as Metapod's green color changed to silver for a sec before he was normal.

"Charmander! Use Quick Attack to get near him and then use Ember at his face." I said as Charmander quickly used Quick Attack as he disappeared from his place and appeared in front of Metapod, and without giving it any chance, he used Ember at his face, causing him to be down in an instant.

"You were amazing, Charmander!" I said as I walked near Charmander who happily smiled and puffed out his chest.

"It seems I've underestimated you! But a loss is a loss anyway. Here's your prize money!" The Bug-type sighed as he walked near me and handed me $60 PokeDollar.
