I woke up on the sandy shore, feeling disoriented. My head throbbed as if I'd tried to memorize a hundred digits of pi all at once. I stood up, shaking off the sand that clung to my clothes. It was as if I'd been thrown into a world I didn't recognize.
My name was Rex Lapis, and this unfamiliar landscape was my current reality. I rubbed my temples, trying to ease the killer headache that pounded inside my skull. Memories began to resurface, weaving themselves into my consciousness like a web of interconnected thoughts.
I learned that Rex Lapis was a resident of Dewford Town, a small coastal settlement with a laid-back vibe. My parents had passed away when I was only nine years old. It was a double blow – my father, a renowned archaeologist, met his untimely end during a hike on a treacherous mountain path due to a fatal landslide. My mother, on the other hand, had succumbed to a severe illness when I was just five.
Life had never been the same for me after their deaths. My father's grief over losing my mother drove a wedge between us, leading him to become increasingly distant. He buried himself in his work, leaving me alone at home for long stretches of time.
By the time I turned eight, I was sent to the local Pokémon school as a boarding student. My good grades earned me an unexpected opportunity – an internship at Dewford Gym alongside my friend Brawly.
As these memories flowed back to me, a sudden realization hit me like a bolt of lightning – I was now in the Pokémon world, a place I had only ever experienced through games and shows. An electrifying surge of excitement and joy coursed through me as I contemplated the infinite adventures that awaited.
Today was a significant day. It was the day I was supposed to receive my starter Pokémon from Dewford Gym, a defining moment for any aspiring Pokémon Trainer. Each gym offered starters based on the local Pokémon population. Dewford Gym, known for its Steel-type focus, presented three choices: Abra, Machop, or Aron.
Looking out at the ocean, my reflection stared back at me. My appearance had transformed, with amber-tipped brown hair and bright golden eyes that sparkled with curiosity. Beside my reflection, a small blue screen displayed my details:

I felt a rush of gratitude for this unexpected advantage. While I was lost in exploration, a notification chimed on my phone – a reminder that I was due at the gym to receive my starter at 12:30 pm, and the clock was ticking.
With a determined spirit, I sprinted towards the gym, my heart racing with anticipation. The gym was an imposing building, its entrance marked by a sign that read "Dewford Gym – Where the Iron Meets the Hammer." I hurried inside, entering a dimly lit corridor with a beacon of light at the far end.
As I entered, I saw a long dark hallway where I could only see the bright light at the end of it. I ran trough the hallway reaching the end of the hall. There I was blind by the bright light.
It took a few seconds for my eyes to recover their vision and adapt to the lighting. After I gained my vision I saw the interior of the gym was completely made of granite making the gym look like a mine. As my eyes where wondering around this room they met a beautiful woman who looked who look amused with a grin on her face.
"hello, my name is Rex lapis I was supposed to receive a starter today from Argen." I asked her.
"oh, you must be one of the new trainers. you can call me Eve please follow me" Eve smile as walked. Eve had tanned skin with blonde hair and green eyes. she wore a formal attire with white shirt followed by navy blue skirt. she looked beautiful as she swayed her hips.Not letting my wonder any longer I hurriedly followed her through a tunnel as they entered the gym practice field I saw Brawly waving at me. His looks were similar to the anime only difference being his height and a bit of baby fat on his face.
Along with a short old man who had the built of a dwarve . he had a strong upper body with thick arm and hands he had long silver hair with a thick beard with dark skin tone he looked like a black smith as he didn't have arm hair along with burn marks all over his hands. His face looked horrid with irritated expression which said ' don't get paid enough to deal with this shit'.
"Hey kid your late"Argen said with his deep voice that can give corpse husband a run for his money with a irritated tone.
"I am sorry, while I was coming here I had to help an old lady cross the road she had heavy bags with her so I had to deliver them to her door step" I lied to excuse myself .
" ya , ya kid same old jargon , kid that Excuses is as old as my grandfather and he is dead , anyways we were just about to start " Argen said with a annoyed tone.
Argen then grabbed three pokeballs threw them out came an abra , machop and aron .
" since you came last , mr hyper here gets first pick " Argen said while glaring at me.
"I pick machop " Brawly said while fist bumming him.
" we are going to be the next big wave"
"maa…" roared machop while returning the fist bump
nodding argen then said" now excuses your turn "
'there goes my first impression' I thought depressed
Rex then looked over at what was left 'arggon and alakazam are both good pokemon but arggon will get a passive boost so picking aron is a no brainer'
"I pick aron"
aron roared as me jumped up and down .
Argen grabbed two pokeballs and passed them over to me and brawly .
" kiddos take good care of them as if the are your family " Argen said with a deep in his eyes like he was the second coming of dom .
Argen then gave us ten pokeballs each . He then grabbed a device that looked like a game boy advance and gave them to us .
"this is a pokedex this scans pokemon and tells you about them , it was made by an old friend of mine his request to u is that scan as many pokemon as possible it helps improve the the database which interns makes the device better. you brat's start on monday you will get paid 20,000 p$ a month and your job is weed out challengers so that I can save time."Argen said as he walked off
" yes sir "both rex and brawly scream with excitement.
"now go home and have a goo nights rest"
Rex with his pokedex then scanned aron.

This Pokémon has a body of steel. To make its body, Aron feeds on iron ore that it digs from mountains. Occasionally, it causes major trouble by eating bridges and rails.

I felt great joy that this aron had such strong egg move . just as I was walking my way out of the training room. Brawly grabbed my shoulder with an iron grip and said " Rex I challenge you to a pokemon battle "
