6 Mudkip chapter - 5

As Officer Jenny arrived at the scene, her commanding presence demanded immediate attention. She wasted no time in approaching us, her inquiry about the situation at hand delivered with a firm and serious tone. "Could you both please provide your accounts of what happened?" Her words underlined her unquestionable authority.

Mr. Swamp and I exchanged a quick glance before he began recounting the unfortunate events. "Officer Jenny, it's quite a tale. These two Team Aqua grunts appeared out of nowhere and threatened me to hand over all the Mudkips I had. Thanks to Rex here, who managed to defeat the grunts, we were able to salvage the situation. We attempted to apprehend them, but their swiftness caught us off guard. Employing a smoke grenade, they disappeared before we could react, leaving us in disbelief."

Officer Jenny listened intently, jotting down notes as Mr. Swamp spoke. Once our statements were concluded, her focus shifted to me, her expression stern. "While I appreciate your willingness to help, putting yourself in harm's way like that is incredibly risky. In the future, remember to report such incidents immediately and allow trained professionals to handle the situation."

I nodded, acknowledging her advice wholeheartedly. "You're right, Officer Jenny. I should have exercised more caution."

As Officer Jenny walked away to continue her investigation, a thought crossed my mind: 'First Argen, now Officer Jenny—seems like I'm developing a pattern of leaving a less than favorable impression.' And on the topic of impressions, I noticed Officer Jenny's appearance? She's strikingly attractive and, I admit, bears a resemblance to her animated counterpart, which made conversing with her quite challenging, given my exposure to certain Rule 34 content depicting her.

Officer Jenny returned, her stern gaze back in full professional mode. "Thank you both for your cooperation. Let's make sure we prevent incidents like this in the future by adhering to proper procedures." With those words, she departed on her bike, her purpose clear.

As Mr. Swamp and I stood by the gate, I absentmindedly kicked a pebble, and together we walked away from the scene. "Well, that was certainly unexpected. Team Aqua materializing out of thin air to abscond with Mudkips?"

Mr. Swamp chuckled, giving me a knowing sidelong look. "Indeed, who would've anticipated our tranquil day being hijacked by a Team Aqua encounter?"

His grin grew wider. "Speaking of unexpected things, it appears someone might have developed a crush. I couldn't help but notice your frequent glances and that somewhat vacant expression you wore."

Heat crept up my cheeks, and I stumbled over my words. "What? I wasn't... I mean, it's just... You're imagining things, Mr. Swamp."

Mr. Swamp's laughter resonated. "Oh, come on, Rex! I've been young too; I know the feeling. But your gaze was rather telling. Hard to take your eyes off her, wasn't it?"

Rubbing the back of my neck, I felt a mix of embarrassment and honesty. "Alright, fine. Perhaps I did steal a few glances, but it's not as if that's the most significant matter at hand right now."

Mr. Swamp's laughter subsided, replaced by a more serious tone. "Absolutely, Rex! For now, head over to my backyard and find the pond."

We reached Mr. Swamp's backyard pond, where he initiated a call: "Mudkip, Mudkip! Come on out!"

Mudkip's head emerged from the water, its gaze fixated on Mr. Swamp. "Wow, Mudkip! You're even more endearing up close." Mudkip then turned its attention to me, emitting a cheerful "Mukiiiip muu mukip." I hadn't previously contemplated entering Pokémon contests, but as I gazed upon Mudkip's undeniable charm, it became clear that it could effortlessly earn me a collection of five ribbons.

Mr. Swamp turned to both of us. "Mudkip, meet your new trainer." Mudkip playfully employed Bubble, effectively soaking my face, before it approached me and playfully nudged my legs. Mudkip's lighthearted antics broke through the tension I had carried just an hour before. Retrieving a Dive Ball, I addressed Mudkip, "Companion, let's embark on a journey together." I placed the Pokéball within its line of sight, anticipation filling the air.

"Muuud," it responded, nudging the Pokéball. Within seconds, Mudkip was enveloped in a radiant blue beam that encased its form entirely. The Pokéball quivered three times before a satisfying click echoed.

Curious to know more, I activated my Pokédex for a comprehensive analysis.

It was revealed that Mudkip was indeed female, hinting at her future strength once she evolves. This realization ignited a sense of excitement about the remarkable journey that lay ahead for both of us.

"Take good care of her," Mr. Swamp advised with a heartfelt tone, his eyes reflecting a sense of trust as he handed over the responsibility of Mudkip to me.

"I will, Mr. Swamp, you can count on me," I replied, my voice brimming with determination as I understood the significance of this task.

As we strolled back towards the ranch, the sun casting a warm glow around us, I took the opportunity to delve deeper into the topic of the mysterious mega stone. Careful not to reveal its true nature, I asked Mr. Swamp about it, curiosity dancing in my eyes.

"Ah, that stone," Mr. Swamp began, a thoughtful expression gracing his features. "Swampert stumbled upon them during an exploration of an underground lake nestled within Granite Cave. Strangely enough, they didn't appear all that special to me at first glance. However, if it piques your interest like your dad, you're more than welcome to keep it."

The revelation left me stunned—receiving a mega stone this early in my journey was beyond my wildest expectations. Gratitude surged within me, and I couldn't help but shower Mr. Swamp with sincere thanks for his invaluable gift.

With the ranch coming into view, our conversation gradually transitioned to a heartfelt farewell. Expressing my gratitude once more, I bid Mr. Swamp farewell .

As I continued on my way, I made a pit stop at the nearby PokéMart. Its doors swung open, ushering me into a realm of supplies and provisions tailored to trainers' needs. Aiming to provide the best care for my newly acquired Mudkip and Geodude, I browsed the shelves, selecting a range of Pokémon food specially formulated for water and rock types. The responsibility of nurturing these creatures had become mine, and I was determined to meet it with the utmost dedication.

Additionally, I spotted a kid-sized pool on display—a brilliant idea struck me. Mudkip would surely appreciate a refreshing soak to maintain its moisture levels. Without hesitation, I added the pool to my growing pile of supplies, envisioning Mudkip's joy and comfort during its aquatic adventures.

With my purchases in tow and a sense of accomplishment in my heart, I embarked on the remainder of my journey. The path ahead seemed promising, full of newfound friendships, challenges, and the continuous growth of the bond between me and my Pokémon companions.
