1 (I) It begins...

The sun glared down over the cityscape below. It was around noon, and the city bustled as people frantically scrambled from their places of employment to the local delicacies for their quick lunch breaks. Not a cloud could be seen throughout the stark blue skies.

Amongst the people rushing down the sidewalks, a young man with thick square-framed glasses and messy black hair held onto the stack of 16 cups of coffee for dear life as he was bounced around against the frames of other people as he squeezed toward his destination.

He wore a traditional, yet cheap suit with a jacket and a tan bag slung across his torso over his shoulder hung around his waist.

"It had to be the first of the month..." He grumbled under his breath as his eyes were locked onto the pedestrian sign attached to the street lights at the intersection.

Every month, Isaac endured the same struggle until he received his first paycheck and could purchase another transit pass for the remainder of the month. He groaned as his cell phone began vibrating in his pant pockets but his hands were too full to answer.

"Great!" He quietly exclaimed, knowing that despite the situation, he would be chastised for not answering his boss. He could already hear her screeching, shrill voice...

"What's the point of you being a PERSONAL assistant if you don't answer me when I call you?!?"

The young man shook his head as he glanced at his wristwatch annoyed by how late he was. He knew explaining that he couldn't afford to buy a transit pass until his next paycheck and was holding four trays of coffee wouldn't appease his round supervisor for not answering her.

He lamented when he would have to stare at the short and stubby round woman who called herself his supervisor. Even though he was far more qualified than her, he had no drive or desire to do anything. All he ever wanted to do was stay home all day, watch anime, play video games, and read manga.

He hated his parents for not making enough so he could stay at home with them his whole life but as soon as he finished college, his father threw him out on the streets. His mother would try and help, bringing over home-cooked meals occasionally, but soon that too ended and he was all alone.

As the light changed colors, the group surrounding Isaac rushed forward and knocked him over. He fell face first and flailed his arms, throwing the four trays of coffee into the air as they tumbled and twirled unleashing their scalding contents everywhere.

Shrieks of pain rang out around the crowd as they were rained on by the hot coffee, however, Isaac suffered the worst of it as his entire back was burned. He screamed in pain and winced, groaning as he cursed his luck.

Those surrounding him quickly exited the crosswalk as the lights began to change. The frustration became too much for the young man as he began whimpering, fighting back the tears. He lifted himself off the asphalt and sat on his knees and began gathering the debris that was flung from his bag.

At that moment, a delivery truck turned the corner and began accelerating toward Isaac. The driver reached over into the empty passenger seat reaching for his cigarettes but couldn't find them by touch alone and took his eyes off the road as he turned.

As he stretched out his hand to reach for the pack, just out of reach, the truck bounced wildly as the driver panicked and grabbed the jerking wheel, slamming on the brakes as the truck skid to a screeching halt. He opened the door to look at what disaster he had committed only to find trash in the intersection behind him.

"Huh..?" The bewildered driver pulled his cap off, scratching his head as he looked around for what caused the intense bump, even checking under his truck he saw nothing, "Weird..." He said to himself, hopping back into his vehicle and driving off.

"AAAAHHHHH!!!!" Isaac screamed at the top of his lungs with his eyes scrunched closed tightly. He began hyperventilating as his eyes opened slightly and he looked around at his unharmed body.

The young man's sanity broke as he began hysterically laughing, his hands frantically touching every inch of his body as he couldn't believe he was alive. After the brief bliss faded, he looked around at his surroundings and noticed he was no longer in the intersection of the city.

He looked around at the plain white room, there was nothing! No doors, no windows, no furniture besides a table and chair. Isaac looked around every crevice of the room and could not figure out how he got into the room or how he could get out.

After hours of screaming and banging, the exhausted man rested his cheek on his palm as he leaned his elbow against an unremarkable table, sitting in a similarly unremarkable chair.

Isaac absentmindedly reached into his pants and pulled out his old smartphone and unlocked the screen launching an emulator application that he defaulted to when he had nothing else to do. He scrolled through the various games he had downloaded, all of them being numerous official and ROMhack Pokemon games.

Before he launched one of the games, he realized that his phone was in his hands and quickly began trying to call the first number on his phone but there was no service and the call did not go through.

Next, he tried to call emergency services but the call wouldn't connect either.

"Tch!" Isaac clicked his tongue realizing that his phone did not allow him the reprieve of hope for his escape. He returned to his emulator app and clicked on the game Pokemon Red.

His smartphone began glowing brightly as a small hum began to fill the tiny prison. The phone began floating in the center of the room and the light began glowing brighter.

Moments later a strong gust of wind began sucking everything into the phone. Isaac grabbed onto the back of the chair as it and the table were the only things not influenced by the powers coming from the phone.

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

Isaac screamed, gritting his teeth as he attempted to hold on for dear life. Unfortunately, his stamina and strength were completely hopeless as he never exercised a day in his life and soon, his grip started to loosen as his fingers inched toward the edge of the chair.

Not long after, he lost his grip and was sucked into the portal. After being absorbed completely, the phone dimmed before falling back to the table before locking and the screen disappeared entirely.

Moments later, the screen lit up once more as a text message was received:

"It is completed. He has arrived..."

"Third time's the charm!" another text message appeared. Shortly afterward, the phone began to violently vibrate before disappearing from the room.

Suddenly the walls burst apart as the room gave way to a deep, vast, void between the stars. Three differently colored lights soon approached the remains of the room, speaking amongst each other in an unknown language.

"■■ ■■! ■■ ■■■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■!" The yellow and white light exclaimed in distress. Soon after a small creature with a star for its head appeared and looked around frantically.

The pink light began circling the chair floating in the void, "■■ ■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■, ■■■■■■■!" It replied with confidence. The small feline began to look around and dart between locations erratically.

"■■■ ■■■■■■, ■'■■ ■■■■ ■■■!" The green light declared. The small onion-looking creature's eyes lit up as it began emitting a powerful aura before the three suddenly disappeared.

Two red eyes appeared in the void and a distorted deep laugh began to echo throughout the emptiness…

"■■■ ■■■■■! ■■'■ ■■■ ■■■■!" The shadow grinned fiercely reveling in the despair of the three small creatures.

A small portal appeared and two lights began to pierce the void, illuminating the darkness with soft blue and light purple lights.

"You have done too much this time… We should have given the second another chance!" The light purple light yelled as the light dimmed, revealing Palkia, chastising the shadow.

"He is right, you know He won't continue to turn a blind eye to your machinations!" The dark blue light was added before Dialga appeared next to Palkia.

"You two lack imagination! He will not intervene personally, I mean, His lackeys were just here completing the task He gave them." The shadow laughed before a bright light shone forth from within revealing Giratina.

"We must stop them before they can fulfill their job!" He added as an immense power burst out from Dialga as the three too disappeared.
