Chapter 13: Meeting May's Mother and Starting Journey

Sitting on a couch in the living room, May's Mother looked amazed while listening to May explain what happened.

"That's amazing to think a Charmander was just laying next to a basket." May's Mother said in shock

"Mother, it's Eren, not a Charmander."

Listening to her daughter, May's Mother chuckled as she extended her hand and gently rubbed Eren's head. "Yes, yes, it's Eren..." 

"..By the way, did you not say Torchic is your starter, so why haven't you released it yet?" Suddenly realising something, she asks May curiously.

"Well, I forgot to let it out." May said with embarrassment.

Taking a Poké Ball from out of her bag. She pressed a button, and with a swoosh, Torchic appeared. 

Torchic looked like a small chick and had a bright yellow body with an orange beak and orange feathers.

Coming out, Torchic looks around with curiosity, and suddenly spotting Eren, it lets out a chirp and runs happily towards him. 

Curiously inspecting Eren with its beak, it chirps again as it runs circles around Eren.

Seeing the cheerful Torchic made Eren helpless, but noticing its colour, he instantly became happy and pulled up the system to view its stats. It better be a shiny, if not, then I really dug a grave for myself this time.

"Char charman char mander (Hahahaha! , I knew I didn't pick the wrong Pokémon.)" Seeing her stats amazed Eren and made him laugh merrily. 

Looking greedily at Torchic in front of him, he let out another chuckle, but this one was weirdly creepy. Hahaha, I'll fatten you up first and wait until you are ready, then strike. Hehehe, I'm rich!!!

While Eren was in his evil zone, Torchic, on the other hand, was still happily running around and had no idea that she was stared at by a predator or that she was his future meal.

Back to May's Mother, When Torchic was let out of its Poké ball, she was instantly shocked by her daughter's luck. 

Who would have imagined you could get a Charmander and a Shiny Torchic at the start of your journey? With these two alone, you are bound to have a great advantage over others.

Noticing her Mother's expression, May asked worriedly. "Mother, is there something wrong?"

"No, it's fine. By the way, when are you going to be leaving for Odale Town?"

"What! You want me to leave you so badly, Mother." May said while pretending to be angry.

Seeing her daughter act like this, she looked amused and said while taking May's bag off the couch and handing it towards May. 

"No, I'd love you to stay, but you see, it was just a reminder, honey, as you do know it's already past 16:00, right, and taking Route 101 would take about 1 hour, maybe mor...."

Getting her Mother's reminder made May panic. 

"Oh no!! I forgot, and I still have to meet Prof. Birch's son. Mother I have to go right now." As she said this, she received Torchic into its Poké ball.

"Sure, bye, honey. See you soon. Have a safe..."" Saying this, May's Mother kisses May's forehead. 

"Bye Mother." May grabs Eren off the couch as she hurries out the door.

"...journey, sigh"

Outside her house, May's personality changes instantly. Seeing the change in May made Eren speechless and also helpless. 

Jumping out of May's arms, Eren grabs May's hand and leads her towards the forest entrance. Feeling the warmth of Eren's little hands made May smile. 

Finally reaching the forest, May lets out a sigh of relief.

Littleroot Town is filled with forest all around it, with the only exception being on one side of the forest, where there is a grass path leading out of Town. 

This path is named Route 101 and is a path for both trainers and non-trainers.

While holding hands, both May and Eren enter Route 101, signalling the start of their long journey....
