Chapter 7: Enter Poochyena, Whismur and the Pokémon egg

I return Torchic into its poke ball.

My stomach would growl.

"Oops..."

{Alex} 'Sounds like someone's hungry.'

We all laugh.

{Natalie} 'Well, lets go eat then.' She chuckles.

"Race you!" I run back to the pokémon center.

{Alex} 'Hey, wait up Brady!'

{Natalie} 'Hey, he cheated!'

They both laugh, then run after me.

We all get to the cafeteria in the pokémon center.

Natalie glares at me.

"Whattt..?" I smirk.

{Natalie} 'You cheated!'

"I didn't cheat..you're just slow." I chuckle.

Alex chuckles as well.

{Natalie} 'I am not..'

{Alex} 'We should probably eat, and then head to the next town.'

We get our food and eat.

After we had eaten, we get up and leave the pokémon center. Heading towards the next route.

{?} 'Not so fast!' Some familiar voices could be heard.

{Alex} 'Why do I know those voices?'

"Because you do know them, possibly?"

{Natalie} 'Yeah.'

{Alex} 'Oh, it's those lunatics again..'

{Oren} 'Lunatics?' He chuckles.

{Valarie} 'Whatever you say brats.' She chuckles.

The ground rumbles.

An Ursaring would come out of nowhere.

{Oren} 'Uh oh..'

{Valarie} 'Is..that..the..same..'

{Oren} 'The same Ursaring as before? Yes, I believe it is.'

A whiteish ball forms in its mouth.

{Oren} 'Uh oh..'

{Alex} 'Run!'

{Natalie} 'What, why?!'

{Alex} 'That's Ursaring's Hyper Beam!'

{Natalie} 'Hyper Beam!?'

Oren and Valarie run off.

I take off alongside Natalie and Alex.

{Alex} 'Great, what did they do to that Ursaring?'

"No clue-" I glance back, seeing the Ursaring, very close to us.

Multiple Ursaring come out of nowhere, coming after us together.

{Alex} 'Lets split up!' He runs an opposite direction.

{Natalie} 'Then lets go this way, Brady!' She yells.

"Right!" We both go the same direction.

We come to a dead end, and we look back see that they had stopped following us.

We sit down, catching out breaths.

Natalie glances to her left, spotting a something grey and black starring at us.

{Natalie} 'Woah, what's that?'

I look over, and grab my pokédex.

{Pokédex} 'Poochyena, Poochyena is an omnivore it will eat anything. A distinguishing feature is how large its fangs are compared to its body. This pokémon tries to intimidate its foes by making the hair on its tail bristle out. It has a very tenacious nature.'

"A Poochyena."

{Natalie} 'It's cute..I want it.' She smiles.

"Then try to catch it." I smile, back at her.

She nods, and gets up.

I get up as well.

The Poochyena tilts its head.

{Natalie} 'Slakoth, use scratch attack!'

Slakoth obeys her, delivering the attack.

Poochyena jumps, avoiding it.

{Natalie} 'What!? Slakoth, use scratch attack again!'

Slakoth stays still.

{Natalie} 'What?'

"Slakoth's ability is Traunt."

{Natalie} 'Which means?'

"Since Slakoth's ability is Traunt, it can't use a move the following turn if it uses one, and even if the attack failed."

{Natalie} 'Oh.'

Poochyena tackles Slakoth.

{Slakoth} 'Slaaakoothh.' It feels the attack, flinching.

Poochyena delivers another tackle attack.

{Natalie} 'Quick Slakoth, use scratch!'

Slakoth delivers the scratch attack right away, making contact with Poochyena.

Poochyena struggles to push itself up.

"If you're going to catch it, I'd throw the poke ball now."

She nods, grabbing a poke ball and throwing it at Poochyena. The poke ball would shake a few times. Soon the red light on the button fades, making a ding sound.

She smiles, grabbing the poke ball.

{Natalie} 'Welcome Poochyena!' She smiles again.

I smile as well.

I'd catch sight of something hidden in some bushes the way we had ran into the dead end.

"Huh..?"

{Natalie} 'What is it Brady?' She'd seem curious.

I walk towards the bushes, pulling out a hidden pokémon egg. The egg would be white on the top with some blue on the bottom of it.

{Natalie} 'A pokémon egg?'

"Yeah..who's is it?"

{Natalie} 'I don't know, but you found it so you should keep it.' She smiles.

"Are you sure?" I'd seem surprised.

{Natalie} 'Mhm.' She smiles again.

"Don't you want the egg?"

{Natalie} 'Maybe, but I've seen how well you handle pokémon. So, I want you to have it. Plus, I caught myself a Poochyena.' Her smile grows.

"Alright." I smile, back.

I pick up the egg, and as soon as I stand back up. My hand would accidentally bump against Natalie's hand. I look at her, seeing her face turn red.

I smirk a bit, but also trying not to blow the moment, I hide the smirk.

"Sorry."

{Natalie} 'Hey, don't worry about it.' She smiles, again.

{Alex} 'Hey you two!'

We hear Alex run up to us with a pokémon in his hands.

{Alex} 'Look what I caught!' He smiles.

I grab my pokédex once more.

{Pokédex} 'Whismur, Whismur is very timid. If it starts to cry loudly, it becomes startled by its own crying and cries even harder. When it finally stops crying, the pokémon goes to sleep, all tired out. It usually murmurs, but starts crying loudly if it senses danger.'

"Wow, a Whismur."

{Natalie} 'Check this out Alex.' She sends her Poochyena out of its poke ball.

{Alex} 'Woah, looks like we all found something new! I got a Whismur, Nat got a Poochyena, and Brady got a pokémon egg. Do you know what pokémon that is?'

"No clue, we just found it here. No one was around either."

{Alex} 'Huh, strange..'

{Natalie} 'Anyways..are the Ursaring gone?'

{Alex} 'Yes.' He laughs.

{Natalie} 'Great! Let's go.' She returns her pokémon into their poke balls.

Alex returns his Whismur into its poke ball, too.

We all head off, continuing to Petalburg City. I carefully examine the pokémon egg as we walk.
