75 Ch 74. Destination set

(unedited)

With the Abra egg having hatched and safely captured, Ares took out his Rotom phone and made a call.

The phone took some time to connect, but it was eventually connected, the giant face of Ash on the receiving end of the call. At his side, Gary ran off, no doubt to get the professor.

"Hey Ash, is professor Oak present?"

Ash nodded, pointing at Gary, who had just left the room.

"Gary is getting him now. But you wanna see something cool? Look!"

Ash's face shortly disappeared from sight, reappearing shortly after with a Seadra in his arms.

"I beat Gary in evolving my Horsea. It's pretty strong right now. They are battling Starmie and Kingler everyday."

Ash boasted, getting pushed aside soon after as Gary showed off his Seadra as well, waiting for praise.

"I see they have been raised well. Keep up the good work."

Ares replied, not being petty enough to refrain from giving some. As the two boys continued the chatter, Ares noticed the figure of professor Oak appearing at the far end of the room.

"Sorry for the wait, my boy. Tell me, how did your battle go?"

Ares simply showed the Earth badge, along with the rest of his badges.

"It was hard, especially his last pokemon. Now that I have all of the badges, only the pokemon league remains."

"Yes indeed. It is truly the best spot to battle strong trainers and test your mettle. Unfortunately, the league conference is still two months away. You will have to spend your time elsewhere in the meantime."

Professor Oak replied, his voice getting distant as he went to get something from across the room, returning not much later with a notebook in his hands.

"In here are a few places you might want to go to. They are perfect to train up your pokemon to be in tip top shape. I will have Alakazam teleport it to you now."

Taking out his pokeball, professor Oak called out his Alakazam, the notebook appearing shortly after in his room.

"Thanks professor, I'll be sure to look around in the mentioned locations. Another thing I wanted to share, is the hatching of my Abra egg. It is in good health with strong psychic powers to boot. Once it has become a bit older, I will send it towards you, as well as some of my other pokemon."

Getting a nod and some tips on how to get to some of the locations mentioned in the notebook, Ares ended the call, going over once more on who he should sent back to professor Oak this time.

After a lot of thought, he decided to sent back Clefable and Pidgeot. Clefable hated battling, preferring to remain at the lab to care for the other pokemon and the greenery. His Pidgeot on the other hand, still hadn't been able to best professor Oaks Pidgeot, making it irritated and pent up with frustration.

So the pokemon which he would be keeping with him were Lucario, Lapras, Umbreon, Pikachu, Charizard, Metagross and Abra. As a matter of course, Mew would be staying with him as well, though she did seem a bit absentminded ever since she got back.

He would be having a word with her about that later. First he needed to find a transfer device to sent his pokemon to professor Oak.

Getting downstairs from the resting area to the pokemoncenter base floor, Ares made his way to the transfer device, sending Pidgeot and Clefable back to professor Oak. He received a message shortly after, notifying they had arrived safely.

With that out of the way, he went to get a bite, for himself and his pokemon. It was the perfect opportunity to get Mew to talk.

With their food ready and piping hot, Ares found himself a quiet place to sit. It was surrounded by flower pots and dividing walls, giving every trainer a bit of privacy.

Having taken the form of a Ralts again, Mew quietly ate her food, not giving anything or anyone a single glance. She appeared to be deep in thought again.

"Alright, out with it."

Mew glanced towards Ares, surprised at his sudden outburst.

[What do you mean?]

It has been a while since she had seen him like this, and so far as she knew, there hadn't been any stimulus to have caused it. It left her baffled and surprised.

"You have been silent and in your own head for too long now. Spill it, what's wrong?"

[I have no clue what you are talking about...]

Mew turned her head aside, avoiding Ares's gaze.

Ares didn't let up, as he picked Mew up and looked her straight in the eye.

Seeing Ares narrowing his gaze, the pressure around him seemed to change. Mew shrunk away a bit, still trying to avoid the subject all together.

"Mew... spill it."

Not letting up, Ares waited for Mew to speak up.

He didn't have to wait for too long.

[Mewtwo... I met up with him after the battle at the gym. All the feelings I had pent up since I discovered about his existence. All ready to burst at the first opportuniy I could get to speak with him. Yet everything just.... it just lost all its meaning.]

Mew broke free from Ares's grasp and floated down on his lap, making herself comfortable as she leaned her head back against his chest. Feeling Ares's hands stroking her head, Mew cracked a small smile as she closed her eyes, thinking back to what she and Mewtwo had spoken about.

[When our minds connected, everything that had happened was shared amongst us. My memories, as well as his. He is a victim. Not an abomination. What proved it even further was the very origin of his existence.]

Mew purred slightly, as Ares's fingers sneakily made their way to her chin, as he gently stroked her soft fur.

[He is made from my very own Dna. Mewtwo shares more than just a few similarities from a particular Mew. His quirky traits, the way his fur grows, as well as even more factors. Mewtwo was made to be a clone of myself, only to end up as his own unique kind. It just isn't right for me to question his existence, when he is almost like a child made from my own blood.]

Mew finished, her mind caressing past his own, as if to find some support and reassurance.

"Then what about Mewtwo now? His hatred is not easily quelled, even more so with his captor still being on the loose."

Feeling Ares's arms tighten around her a bit, Mew patted his hands in excitement, her previous downcast demeanor nowhere to be found.

[We go after him of course! Now that I know he is of my own blood, I can't just leave him be! With the time left before the Pokemon league, we will chase after Mewtwo and try to catch him! If he is captured in a pokeball, other pokeballs won't have any effect anymore. He will be just like me, traveling alongside you and give a helping hand when needed. A change in scenery does wonders for a vindictive mind.]

Mew proudly patted her chest, yelping in surprise as she was held up high.

"If that is what you want, why not. It isn't often that my childhood friend has something she needs. Who am I to throw her determination into the wind."

Ares chuckled, as he was mercilessly slapped by Mew on his hands, all the while chuckling as she wiggled around futilely in his grasp.

Giving up, Mew levitated some food to her mouth as Ares began to ponder.

"Do you even know where he went?"

Gulping her food down, Mew nodded her head affirmatively.

[Mt. Silver. It has been said to have few people around. He wanted to have some time to think before he made any rash moves.]

Looking at Lucario and the rest of Ares's pokemon that were present, Mew couldn't help but become a bit shy.

[Thanks for doing this.]

Lucario just barked out in laughter, patting Mew on the back.

It was like he was saying Don't worry, we are used to your antics.

Giving Ares a fistbump as a sign of trust, Lucario motioned for the others to hurry up, which caused all of them to quickly polished off their plates, after which they returned to their pokeballs in excitement. They were going to chase a pokemon stronger than all of them. One that could knock them out in an instant. How thrilling it was to face such a challenge!

Laughing at his pokemon actions, Ares followed their lead.

With all his stuff gathered together as well, all he needed to do was catch a ride to the security point near Mt. Silver.

Something that was easy to do with the help of professor Oak.
