7 Ch 7. Viridian forest Pt. 2

Walking through Viridian forest, Ares had come across a few training partners for his pokemon. Mostly were bug pokemon, but the most likely one that could train his pokemon for now were pidgey and pidgeotto. Lucario had already battled a lot of them, but they might be a nice challenge for Eevee, who was still a little unexperienced in battling.

Seeing a stray pidgey, Ares walked towards it, letting Eevee go upfront and battle the Pidgey.

The Pidgey yelled at Eevee as a challenge, as it was more than ready to face such a fur ball. It had defeated a lot of Caterpie, Metapod and Weedle. All of them had been easily defeated before its might, with every one of them ending up in its stomach. Pidgey glared at Eevee, trying to intimidate it.

Eevee looked at the Pidgey, feeling it had had a lot of battles. Eevee was a bit nervous, but when he looked at Ares, he could see he had complete faith in him. Not to mention, he had already a little experience battling a Pichu, so his faith in Ares was already a bit stronger than before. Becoming a bit more confident, Eevee yelled at the Pidgey as well, accepting the challenge.

"Alright Eevee, Sand-attack!"

Ares ordered. Eevee dashed towards the Pidgey, seeing it was ready to perform its attack as well. Not letting the Pidgey do that, Eevee interrupted the Pidgey with Sand-attack, spraying sand straight in its eyes.

The Pidgey screeched in anger, as it wiped its eyes with its wings, feeling the sand stinging in its eyes. Eevee didn't let this opportunity pass him by.

"Use Quick attack"

He immediately followed up with a Quick attack, pelting the Pidgey from all sides. The Pidgey wanted to take to the air in an attempt to dodge Eevee's attacks, but Eevee was smart. Every time Eevee attacked, he would aim for Pidgey's wings.

So when Pidgey tried to fly into the air, he screeched once again, though this time in pain, as it could barely move its wings. Seeing the victory, Eevee finished it of with another Quick attack. The Pidgey could do nothing as the attack hit it. It struggled briefly to get up, but collapsed, barely conscious at all.

"Nice. You were able to implement the training nicely."

Ares petted Eevee's head in praise. Eevee called out in pride at his accomplishments. It worked really hard on this.

"Want to add the little guy to the group? Pichu isn't really experienced, while Pidgy is, so he would be a good training partner for you, as well as nice adition to the team."

Ares asked, wanting to hear Eevee's opinion as well. Eevee was the one to defeat it after all. He had made the decision with Pichu, as it surely wouldn't be able to survive out here with its injuries, so this time it would only be fair if Eevee chose. It would be nice to have Pidgy in the party. Still, he could always catch a different Pidgey if Eevee refused. His pokemon needed to be compatible with each other after all. If they hated each other, that would make his journey all the harder.

"Eevee, vee!" Eevee nodded, he wasn't against the idea. Pidgey could take a hit, so it would be nice to train together. It was really strong, so he admired him a bit.

"Alright."

Ares grabbed a pokeball and threw it towards Pidgey. Pidgey was turned into a red light and sucked into the pokeball. It began to roll, once, twice, thrice, stopping when the light on the button went out.

Ares picked up the pokeball and let Pidgey out.

Pidgey looked confused around him until it saw Ares, Lucario and Eevee. Pidgey hung his head down. It was clearly depressed. After all the battles it had, his might had not been enough to defeat the formidable foe it had fought. His prowess was too low to handle the oversized fur ball. How lamentable!

"Hey, hey, no need to be so down. Now that we are a team, we can grow stronger together. There are always others stronger than us. The only thing we can do is struggle to get stronger and beat them the next time."

Pidgey looked at Ares with stars in its eyes. It wanted to get stronger. He wanted to be the strongest Pidgey, no, Pidgeot there ever was! He would crush them all with his newgained power, defeating every opponent he would come across. And he would need a trainer to be able to do that. Someone who would help him through the thick of it. He would not disappoint, neither the trainer or him.

"Pii, Piii!"

Pidgey flapped his wings in excitement, ready to start training and battling opponents as soon as possible. He had made a quota, one he had to fill.

"It's good to see you so excited, Pidgey. Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Ares, your trainer. You've met Eevee and this is Lucario."

Lucario nodded at Pidgey, clearly not much of a talker. Never had been.

"And the others, well, Pichu is still resting while the other one, she is probably hanging around somewhere as she was getting a bit bored. Let's get along."

Ares's pokemon quickly get to know each other as they moved further through the forest. So far they hadn't come across any dangerous Pokemon. It were Caterpies, Metapod and Pidgey up till now.

Yet his luck could always help him with that, if he wanted to or not. As they were moving deeper into the forest, Ares could hear faint buzzing sounds that was getting louder.

Ares waited a bit to search where it was coming from. He didn't have to wait long. Ares could hear screaming as a trainer and his Raticate were dashing past him, clearly on the run.

A bit surprised by the situation, Ares glanced what he was running from and began to curse loudly as he noticed a huge swarm of Beedrill coming his way. It weren't just a few, oh no, it were more than two dozen. They were all clearly pissed of and were shooting poison stings his way.

Not waiting to be hit, Ares turned on his heels and ran in a different direction than the trainer from before.

'Other trainers can be such jerks!'

The trainer had clearly been intent on passing the angry swarm onto him. Better the other trainer than himself. Now Ares had to pay the price as more than half of the Beedrill were chasing him.

"Lucario, use Aura sphere when they come too close. If possible, follow it up with Blaze kick."

Lucario nodded, throwing Aura spheres at trees to make them crashing down behind them to create an obstacle for the Beedrill. Even crushing a few if the tree trunks fell correctly.

"Eevee, use a barage of Shadow balls on the Beedrill that are weaker than the leader."

"Vee!"

Eevee nodded as he began gathering ghost energy to use it when needed.

"Finally Pidgey, use gust on the closest Beedrill to drive them off. If you know Whirlwind, use that as well. Let's get away from this dilemma guys."

Ares's pokemon nodded as they all prepared to play their part.

After multiple trees or tree branches had been destroyed to halt the Beedrill or were blasted away by Ares's pokemon, only five had continued to follow while the rest retreated. As this was easier to handle than fighting more than a dozen, Ares and his pokemon halted as they faced their opponent.

The Beedrill were clearly furious, but they also had received multiple wounds from the three pokemon in front of them. Still, that didn't restrain them to attack them.

Four of the Beedrill rushed forward as their stingers began to glow in a green light. The last Beedrill was collecting energy as a red light was gathering in front of it.

"Lucario, use Vacuum Wave followed by Metal claw on the nearby Beedrill. Eevee, use Shadow ball for support. Pidgey, use wing attack on the Beedrill on the back. Make sure it doesn't use that Hyper beam."

Once again Ares's pokemon jumped into action. Lucario ran forward at an incredible speed, dodging the twineedles perfectly while countering them with Vacuum Wave in their openings. If he was late at dodging it, he used Metal claw to block or parry it.

Eevee didn't drag the others down, as it provided excellent support for Lucario in his blind spots, hitting the Beedrill on their critical parts, like head and lower abdomen.

Pidgey, one to prove his worth and eager to show of his strength against these puny bugs, heightened its speed with Agillity as it gathered his energy in his wings. Its wings began to glow in a bluish white light as it arrived in front of the Beedrill in the back. The Beedrill was shocked at how fast Pidgey was and focussed the Hyper beam at Pidgey instead. It didn't wait for it to be fully charged as it blasted the beam at Pidgey.

Pidgey became angry, as he wasn't able to stop Beedrill from using Hyper beam. How dare that filthy bug to shoot at him! It would pay the price with an extra hit of his wing attack. That he would make sure of!

Pidgey dodged the attack with a hairs width and slashed the Beedrill hard across the chest, just barely missing its head due to the Hyper beams recoil. Not forgetting to hit it again, Pidgey slammed his wing at the Beedrill open back, cutting of the wings of the bug. Beedrill buzzed in anger at Pigey, yet was unable to keep itself in the air. The Beedrill had received too much damage as it crashed down to the ground. It twitched and squirmed, not able to move as it had just used Hyper beam.

Looking around it, Pidgey saw the others were as good as done as well. He was just a bit sad that he had only taken down one, while Eevee and Lucario had taken down two each. Lucario with more ease than Eevee, but that didn't change the tally at all!

"Don't worry. There is alway next time."

Ares said, effectively cheering up Pidgey.

Pidgey quickly killed his opponent, devouring its body as its reward. It was something he always loved to do.

Not saying anything about Pidgey's behavior, Ares scoured the surroundings. While he didn't see any Beedrill anymore, there surely were more in the vicinity.

"Let's not stay here any longer. The other Beedrill might return and the night is coming. I don't plan on becoming their lunch."

At his words, all of their stomachs began to rumble, even Pidgey was still hungry after devouring the Beedrill.

Ares laughed, as his pokemon and him were clearly on the same page. All equally as hungry as the other.

"Going to Pewter city can wait. Let's go get to the camp and prepare some lunch."

His pokemon all agreed as they were really hungry after being chased and having battled the fierce Beedrill. They all couldn't wait to become stronger so they wouldn't have to be afraid of these swarms anymore. They couldn't wait for the time they could take these Beedrill down with a single move.
