Moonlight

(n.) The light of the moon

Moonlight,

Shining a path,

Down the sandy beach,

There she walks,

As years streak down her cheeks.

Moonlight,

There she stays,

Laying on the cool sand,

Trying hard to stop her tears,

But alas, she fails.

Moonlight,

Her cries can't be contained,

As hot tears leave her eyes,

She clutches her chest,

Letting out a choked "Why?"

Moonlight,

Minutes turned into hours,

The cold didn't bother her,

Admiring the soft waves,

While holding a jagged piece of glass.

Moonlight,

She stares above and smiles,

A decision has to be made,

Her answer was clear,

Anything to stop the suffering.

Moonlight,

Under the moonlit beach,

Layed a girl no more than 16,

As she took her last breath,

Looking up at the moon for the very last time,

She whispers "Finally, I'm free.",

As she closes her eyes falling asleep never to open them again.
