Mortal Combat

He was breathing heavily, he hasn't even done much but he was running out of breath, the shock that this was now his reality was too much for him to handle. He has been in a fight in school *true*, infact he has been in lots of fights but not in a mortal combat. He had a strong mind but also he was afraid for his life. How was he going to fight such a creature, he couldn't explain the nature of the creature, it's just "all over the place" type of creature with it's body being detached and reassembled at will, segmented parts, long hands with claws at the end which he presume was it's attacking mechanism, also not neglecting its fangs too which looked really dangerous. He had to avoid a bite no matter what. The creature didn't seem to have legs or did it??? He wasn't sure as it was floating in the air with a tattered black overall clothing on it's body hiding the lower part of it's body.

"Hfft Pfft ...What the hell is this..? What...the hell?" Derek mustered holding his axe tight.

"I cannot let this fight go on for lo..."

Before he could complete that taught the mennanagal came flying again, but Derek was sharp enough to manage another dodge but this time bruising his shoulder as he rolled on the ground. The mennanagal was pretty fast for it's body mass.

Derek had to attack it somehow or find a way to land a hit at least, that's the only way he can know what next to do, because the priority now was the glowing amulet at the corner which Derek unconsciously glanced at every once in a while.

"Ok... i can do this...i can do this" he told himself as he dashed towards the creature. It detached it's hands sending it Derek's way in great speed, Derek was already expecting a move from it and here it comes. He slides below dodging the attack again and now getting behind the creature.

"Now's my chance" he resolved running to smack it's exposed behind. And in the blink of an eye Derek was sent flying with a rock stopping his momentum as he crashes onto it.

"What happened?...what the hell was that?...I thought i had it??" Derek questioned in a weakened tone.

He hustled to get back on his feet, raising his gaze to the creature which had already detached it's neck, dangling in the air like it was about to send another attack. Was he gonna make it in time, he was already weak in the knees, apparently the hit he received was too heavy and damaging on him, it felt like he was hit with a big club on his stomach.

Derek was still giving the creature a death stare which was supposed to be scared if it was a human but his stare wouldn't do him much good, he could be done for right there, the mennanagal was probably giving him sometime to say his last prayers as it flings it's detached head towards Derek with it's mouth wide open and it's pointy fangs out. It move so fast, it moved like a snake flying through the air. Derek couldn't move, he couldn't dodge this time, but right before it's head could make contact with Derek, Claudia's lit arrow came flying through connecting to the creatures face burning it instantly as it falls and wiggles on the ground.

"Haha...You totally forgot about me Derek" Claudia called waving at Derek

Derek was still in shock for few seconds thereafter expressing relief with a deep breath.

"You really made a nice distraction there Derek, I couldn't possibly waste such opportunity given to me" she said as she came down from her hiding place, picking up the amulet and tossing it over to Derek

"We got the amulet, now let's get the hell out of here"

Derek just nodded in agreement, he still couldn't believe he was alive and he still couldn't understand how Claudia could still be this composed in this situation, what has she really been through?

They both ran in the opposite direction from the way the other creatures went, they saw a door, they pushed it open, it was an exit. Stepping outside they realize they have been inside one big building all these while. Looking up at the building was a light writing at top which wrote "DT".
