SURPRISE! //

<David pov>

Stepping into the executive lift, I lightly punched my head, my cheeks bright red.

"Stupid! Stupid! Why would you do that?! And why did it feel so- so- normal?! She- She's not Cordelia, and I've never had any feelings for her, so why did I do that?!" I whispered under my breath.

Getting off the lift as I reached my office, I walked inside to find Arthur already sitting at my desk, playing a game on his phone.

Hearing the door close, he looked up at me and turned his phone off.

"Something happen? You look like you're about to explode." He said as he slipped his phone into his pocket.

*sigh* "I don't know what's wrong with me.." I mumbled, sitting down in my chair and facing him.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

I repeated the matter to him, and his expression went from neutral to shock to laughing.

"Stop Laughing!" I yelled at him, my face turning red.

"Haa, How in the world, can you, the great, always composed, cold David Myers, even make such a--" He said as he laughed, then went quiet as I sent him a dirty glare. "Yeah, forget it, forget it." he mumbled with a small cough.

"So, what's the reason you're all, y'know." he said, pointing at his cheeks to tell me what he meant as if I didn't get what he meant.

"I think I just gave you the reason." I said, glaring at him.

"Yeah, but, for your supposed mental status, y'know, There is no existing person known as Cordelia, it's just Pearl, so, are you all red from thinking about your ex or because you made a move on Pearl?" he asked, his voice sounding as if he was deliberately trying to make me flustered.

"It-it wasn't a move, I just-just made a m-mistake." I stuttered, turning red in the face as I tried to clear the accusation.

"So you were thinking of her when you-" he started saying when I cut him off before he could accuse me of anything else.

"-I was not thinking of Cordelia!" I yelled.

"But I never said it was Cordelia." He said, a sly smile playing on his lips. "So you were thinking of Pearl, so I'm guessing that it wasn't a 'mistake', now was it?"

"Sh#t." I mumbled under my breath.

"Heh, it was intended, huh?" he said, raising a brow.

"Don't you look at me like that!" I yelled with a glare.

"Was it a gif-" he started again but got cut off as the door got thrown open.

"Hey, we gotta get going now." Daniel said as he strode in, acting as if he hadn't just been trying to break down the door.

"Coming!" Arthur said in a sing-song voice and stood up. "Let's talk about this later, hmm." he whispered as we walked behind Daniel.

I just glared at him as we got back onto the lift.

As we sat in Daniel's car a few minutes later (Arthur came by taxi), I kept glaring at Arthur while he kept looking at me with an innocent smirk.

Pulling up into the garage, we got out and walked in to see that some balloons and the banner had already been fitted.

"Ah, there you three are!" My mother exclaimed as she walked over to us.

"Hey, Mom!" Daniel said with a cheery smile.

"Oh, don't Hey Mom me! Now, Daniel, go help your father with the balloons, Arthur, you go help June in the kitchen, David, lock the door from the outside and come round back. Then help me set the table." She said, her voice quick as a wind that it took us a second to understand what she was saying. "Well, what are you all waiting for? Get to work!" she yelled clapping her hands loudly.

"Yes ma'am!" we all shouted in unison and ran off to do our tasks before she could go into a screaming fit.

It was around five O'clock when we finished all the preparations.

I stood in the kitchen and took a few gulps of water as Daniel walked in.

"Mum's saying that we should sit in the lounge and not get scattered 'cause she could get back at any given moment." he said filling up a glass of water and sitting on the counter.

*sigh* " 'Kay, got it." I said, rinsing the glass and putting it back in the dish rack.

Walking out of the kitchen, I went back to the lounge and sat on an armchair.

In a good few minutes, we heard a car parking in the garage.

Hurriedly getting to our positions, Dad turned off the lights and joined us. A few seconds later, the door handle could be heard rattling and then the door opened.

Then just as the light switch was turned back on, We all gave a loud yell; "SURPRISE!"

I looked at Pearl to see her shocked expression and stifled a small laugh.
