Ch. 49 - Catch Him Alive

Finally, after this, the notifications stopped, and Charizard went back to its Poke Ball.

"Okay, Let's get out of here and check out those Hidden Quests."

I quickly made my way to the exit of the Gym, and just as I took one step out of the Gym...

*BOOM*

A loud sound entered my ears as soon as I exited the Gym.

[CONGRATULATIONS! You are the First Player to have collected Four Gym Badges.]

[{WORLD ANNOUNCEMENT} Congratulations to Dipper from Kanto Region for becoming the First Player to earn Four Gym Badges.]

[Unlocking Functions...]

[GTL Unlocked]

[Global Trade Link (GTL) is a place where players can trade Pokemon and Items from around the Pokemon World. The GTL can be accessed through PC, and the Player will need to have Four Gym Badges to unlock GTL.]

[Region Traveling Unlocked]

[Player who have earned Four Gym Badges can travel to another Region besides their Starter Region.]

[Please note that every region has their own different Gym Badges, and the Gym Badges earned in one Region will have no effect on other Regions. As such, when the player travels to a new region, their Obedience level will also reset, and all the player's current Pokemon will be transferred to the PC.]

[The player can't use their high-level Pokemon until the Player has enough Obedience level.]

[The Obedience level is calculated based on the Badges earned in the same region. It will not affect other Regions, and the player doesn't have to worry about losing their Obedience level in their other Regions.]

[To travel to new Regions, the Player will have to find a specific NPC that will take them to other Regions.]

[CONGRATULATIONS! You are the First Player to unlock Region Traveling.]

"Fuck, Is it going to announce every time I unlock something new?" I wanted to rant some more but, I was stopped by more notifications.

[World Portal Unlocked]

[After earning Four Gym Badges, the Player can use World Portal to bring Items and/or Pokemon to their World. The World Portal function can be accessed through the PC.]

[The number of Pokemon and/or Items that can be brought to the Player's World depends upon the total number of Badges that the Player has.]

[Currently, the Player has a total of Four Gym Badges, which means that the Player can bring four items and/or Pokemon to their World.]

[Note that the limit will reset every Month, and the Player will be able to bring more items and/or Pokemon into their World by either waiting for the limit to reset or by earning more Gym Badges.]

[CONGRATULATIONS! You are the First Player to unlock the World Portal.]

Finally, the notifications stopped, and a lot of information, along with various windows, covered my vision.

"It seems I have completed another Hidden Quest, which must be related to unlocking the 'World Portal'."

Looking at all the notifications, I was happy that I could now bring things from Pokemon World to the Real World. But, at the same time, after looking at the 'World Announcement' notifications, I can safely say that I now have a giant target painted on my back, especially so because of the 'World Announcement' about the 'World Portal'.

'Everyone will be after me. I'll now have to be extra careful.'

"But man, Was it really necessary to announce everything to the whole World?" I said with a sad voice.

"Anyway, what's done is done. Let's move on to the Hidden Quests and take a look."

I clicked on the first quest notification, and the details of the quest appeared.

[Quest - One Pokemon Clear {Hidden}

Description - Use only ONE Pokemon to clear a Gym.

Reward - Legend Of The Three Birds (2/4)

Deadline - Before anyone else does it.]

"What is this?" I said as I looked at an old piece of paper which appeared as a reward.

The paper had an image of a Pokemon and some text written on it.

[Zapdos, one of the Three Legendary Birds, rules over Lightning and Thunder. When Zapdos flaps its glittering wings, it releases electricity that can potentially cause thunderstorms. It produces massive crackling and snapping sounds when it flies; these are attributed to the lightning bolts it sheds when airborne.

[Zapdos reportedly appears only during thunderstorms and gain power when struck by lightning. It is said to live among thunderclouds, but rumor has it that there is an abandoned Power Plant near 'Lavender Town' where Zapdos now lives.]

I read through the legend of Zapdos and its location.

"So, Legendary Pokemon do exist in this World, and from that way, the potential location of Zapdos was mentioned at the end, it seems that it might be possible to catch the legendaries as well."

"Though, I must say it's a neat way of telling about the Legendary Pokemon and their location." I said as I admired the old piece of paper.

"I wonder if other players will be able to get something like that." I said as I wondered if any player would be able to find a Legendary Pokemon or even a clue related to them.

"Man, I kinda feel like a waste to receive this old paper as a reward when I already knew most of the information on it."

"I just hope I'll get something useful from other quests."

I clicked on the second notification.

[Quest - First Try Celadon Gym {Hidden}

Description - Defeat the Celadon City Gym on the first Try.

Reward - x1 Random Evolution Item

Deadline - Can't exit the Gym once entered, Before anyone else does it.]

[COMPLETED]

[You received one Linking Cord]

[Linking Cord : A peculiar wire that makes certain species of Pokemon evolve without trading.]

"Linking Cord?"

"Another waste, 'cause I don't have any Pokemon that requires trading to evolve right now."

"Might need in the future, but damn another waste of reward."

Now, on the third one, I clicked it, hoping to get something good from its reward.

[Quest - Complete Clean {Hidden}

Description - Defeat every trainer, including the Gym Leader, present inside Celadon City Gym.

Reward - 1x Random Held Item

Deadline - Without exiting the Gym, Before anyone else does it.]

[You received one Focus Band]

[Focus Band : An item to be held by a Pokemon. The Holder may endure a potential KO attack, leaving it with just 1 HP.]

"Damn it, did my Luck run out?"

Looking at the last Hidden Quest notification, I almost lost hope as I saw the rewards of the other Hidden Quest.

[Quest - First Bridge {Hidden}

Description - Become the First Player to Unlock the 'World Portal' Function.

Reward - Pre-Modern Poke Ball Blueprint

Deadline - Before anyone else does it.]

[COMPLETED]

[You received 'Pre-Modern Poke Ball Blueprint']

"Oh! Oh! Oh! Something interesting came out" I said as I quickly took out the blueprint.

The blueprint consists of a list of all the materials required to create a Poke Ball as well as the whole process of creating one.

"So, I'll need an Apricorns fruit and a Tumblestone. The Apricone fruit is cut apart and carved out, then fitted with Tumblestone." I said as I read what was written on the blueprint.

"But what is Pre-Modern? And why does this picture of Poke Ball doesn't look the same as a real Poke Ball."

"The image of the Poke Ball on the blueprint looks like an older version of the Poke Ball, that would explain the Pre-Modern." I said as I came to a conclusion.

<3rd Person POV>

While Dipper was busy checking out the rewards, the whole world was in chaos.

In the whole World, there might not be a single person anymore who doesn't know the name Dipper.

The news of Dipper's achievement was made public to other players by the 'World Announcement' who then spread it to the rest of the world, causing everyone to know about Dipper.

"Damn it!!! How is he able to earn Four Badges so quickly when I couldn't even defeat the NPCs in the 'Vermilion City' Gym?" Bob fumed in anger.

"He did it." said Jessie

"Yes, He did. We knew he would be the first to do it" said James

Not just the World was in chaos; the 'Pokemon Union' too was in disarray.

Higher-ups of the 'Pokemon Union' were having emergency meetings, all of which were focused on two points, the possible appearance of Pokemon in the real world and Dipper.

"FIND OUT WHO IS DIPPER"

"WE MUST CATCH HIM ALIVE".

Similar to Players and 'Pokemon Union' higher-ups, normal people were also in chaos, excited to be more accurate because they had only heard about Pokemon but couldn't enter the Pokemon World because of the age limit, but now they were excited that someone is out there who can take Pokemon out to the real world.

Just thinking about being able to see Pokemon in the real world excites them much less owning one themselves.

One such excited individual was Lily, who couldn't even sit down because of the excitement from remembering the promise Dipper made to her.

"Oh, Dipper, You really did it."

"Who are you talking to?" a voice came from outside of the room.

"No one, Gramps" said Lily while hugging her pillow.

I just wanted to update you guys that Chapter uploads will be irregular for about a week or so as I'll be traveling back to my University and my Mid-Term exams are starting on the 1st of April.

The funny thing is that I don't even know the names of half of my Subjects, So I'll have to study extra hard for the exams.
