43 Ch. 41 - Toodaloo
<Dipper's POV>
After absorbing the beautiful scenery of the Pokemon World, I exited the Guard House.
[You have entered Route 11]
"Now that I have the 'Item Finder', let's give it a try" I said as I took out the weird device which Professor Oak's Aide gave me.

Just as I was tinkering with the device, it split into two poles.
As I held one pole in each of my hands, their ends started blinking with light as they started to move in random directions.
After a few seconds, the blinking and the movement of the pole stopped as both the ends of the poles lit up and pointed in one direction, to my right.
'They are pointing to my right, which means there is a hidden item somewhere around there.' I thought as I turned to my right.
There was nothing there except a small rock.
Moving closer to the rock to observe it and its surrounding area, I didn't find anything.
"Weird, there is nothing here."
'Maybe the device is busted.' I thought as I stopped looking for the item.
Just as I was about to give up on the item and move on, I remembered the words of Professor Oak's Aide.
"There are items on the ground that may be hidden from View. Use the 'Item Finder' to detect any hidden items close to you."
"Use it to get your bearings, then search the suspect area by hand."
"That's right, the item is hidden." I said as I came to this realization.
"But how do I find it?" I put my hand on the rock to look more closely, but just as I touched the rock, a notification appeared.
[You found one Escape Rope]
"So, It literally meant to use your hands."
After finding the hidden Item, I again took out the 'Item Finder' and used it. But unlike last time when the ends lit up after it found an Item, this time, after the blinking stopped, both the poles turned in opposite directions and the device turned off.
"I guess there are no more hidden Items around. I will need to regularly check for hidden Items in the future." Putting away the 'Item Finder', I started heading to 'Vermilion City'.
[You have entered Vermilion City]
Soon, I reached 'Vermilion City'. Since I had done everything that I needed to do in 'Vermilion City', it was time to leave 'Vermilion City' and continue on with my journey.
'Since I'll be continuing my journey, It is better to stock up on supplies.'
'I don't want to end up running out of Poke Balls or potions while inside 'Rock Tunnel'.' I thought as I made my way into the Poke Mart.
There were two Salespersons in the Poke Mart. But unlike last time, I mistakenly interacted with another Salesperson which opened up a list of TMs that I could buy.
'What? I didn't know that I can buy TMs here.'
I took a look at the list of TMs available.

Looking at the long list of TMs, I could hardly recognize any of the moves.
But among all the moves, I spotted some very useful moves, like <False Swipe>.
I clicked on 'TM - False Swipe' to check its information to verify if what I remember is correct as well as to also check its price.
[TM - False Swipe : A restrained attack that prevents the target from fainting. The target is left with at least 1 HP.]
[Price : ₽10,000]
'Yes, it is as I remembered. This move is very good for catching Pokemon, but damn it's expensive.'
'Though, I don't think I am in urgent need of this since my Pokemon aren't that high level to one-hit other Pokemon unless they have Type advantage.'
'I'll buy it later.' I thought as I moved to the next move that caught my attention, <Thief >
[TM - Thief : An attack which steals the foe's held item if the user isn't already holding one. Its effects are temporary when stealing from Trainers.]
[Price : ₽10,000]
'Damn expensive, and I don't think any of my current Pokemon can learn this move anyway.'
Moving on to the last move, <Sky Drop>
[TM - Sky Drop : The user takes the target into the sky, and then drops it during the next turn. The target cannot attack while in the sky.]
[Price : ₽20,000]
"I don't know much about this move, but from the information, it sure sounds incredible. But it is super expensive, and from the looks of it, it can only be used on a Flying-Type."
"I'll buy it when Charmeleon evolves."
After looking through the TMs, I moved to the other salesperson to get what I came for.
Because of all the catching, I only had 13 Poke Balls left from the 50 Poke Balls that I bought last time.
So, I bought another 50 Poke Balls which cost me ₽10,000.
I also bought 2 Super Potions for ₽1,200 and 5 Potions for ₽1,000.
In total, I spent ₽12,200, which brings my balance from ₽38,239 to ₽26,039.
After getting everything I needed, I exited the Poke Mart and started making my way north of 'Vermilion City' to head to 'Rock Tunnel'.
Just as I walked past the Pokemon Center, I stopped in my steps as I saw something which I expected to happen but not this soon happened.
Yes, The Pokemon Center and its surroundings were filled with players.
'So, they managed to cross 'Diglett's Cave' and reached 'Vermilion City'. Good for them.' I thought as I continued on my steps.
But before I could take a step further, I was stopped by a voice.
"Hey, wait up."
Turning to the source of the voice, I saw a group of players coming towards me at high speed.
'I smell trouble, better get out of here.' I thought, but I didn't realize that I was already surrounded by other players.
"You are Dipper, Right?" said one of the players.
"Man, I am your biggest fan. I was there when you defeated Brock. It was epic." said another player.
"But where have you been? We looked for you everywhere. We even thought that you stopped entering Pokemon World." said a player with lavender colored hair
"Yes, You had us worried there." a player with magenta colored hair said with genuine concern in her voice.
"Just here and there." I replied
"Don't tell, you cleared 'Mt. Moon'." said one of the players from the crowd after hearing my reply.
"Were you also the one who cut down the Small Tree." another one asked.
"Of course, it's HIM, who else would it be." said the same player with magenta color hair.
'Why do the blue haired and the purple haired player look familiar? Have I met them before?'
But before I could think further, one of the players from the crowd came up to me and held me by my shoulders, "Brother, You gotta tell us how did you made your Pokemon so strong. I had to fight Brock 7 times before I could defeat him."
"Yes, you even managed to cross 'Mt. Moon'. You are so strong. Please teach me how to make my Pokemon as strong as yours, take me as your student." another one of the players came up to me and said.
"I am sorry, but I can't take you as my Student. I need to focus on other things." I replied as I moved back to get out of their grips.
"If you can't take us as your student, then at least tell us your secret. How did you manage to make your Pokemon so strong?"
"Yes, Please tell us."
'What a Headache this is...' I thought as I consumed most of my brainpower to think of a way to get out of this situation.
After standing silent for some time, most players thought I was going to tell them my secret.
"You guys want to know my secret?" I said
"Yes" every player shouted.
"Then listen carefully as I am about to tell you the secret of this Pokemon World."
Hearing my words, every player quieted down so as to not miss even a single word of mine.
"I wanna be the very best, Like no one ever was"
"To catch them is my real test, To train them is my cause"
"I will travel across the land, Searching far and wide"
"Teach Pokémon to understand, The power that's inside"
"LOOOK! What's that?" I said, stopping and pointing at something in the sky.
Hearing me, every player quickly turned around and looked at where I was pointing.
This gave me enough time to get out of the crowd of players while they were distracted.
Quickly taking out the bicycle, I started riding it towards the north of 'Vermilion City'.
But this was enough time for the players to realize that something was wrong and there was nothing where I pointed.
"Hey, wait!"
"Where are you going?"
"Tell us the secret."
"Quick, after him!"
The crowd of players started running after me.
[You have entered Route 6]
Since the Pokemon Center was not that far from 'Route 6', the players chased after me, and we reached 'Route 6'. But it seemed they didn't learn from their past mistakes as just as they entered 'Route 6', many players received a notification.
[The opponent is currently in a battle. You have been added to the Battle Queue. Please wait.]
Yup, the players were so focused on catching me that they didn't realize that there were NPC trainers standing just outside of 'Vermilion City'.
All the players who entered 'Route 6' triggered a Pokemon Battle with the NPC trainer, but since there were many players, they were added to the Battle Queue from which they could get out as long as they left the area.
But there was one unlucky player who was at the front of the crowd. Now he was facing off against the NPC trainer.
After seeing the notification, all the players stopped and finally noticed that 'Route 6' was full of NPC trainers and they were not battling me.
"Dipper, wait..." the players shouted to stop me.
I stopped my Bicycle and looked back.
Watching me stop, the player thought that I would turn back and come to them, but...
"Toodaloo sucker" I said as I rode my Bicycle with great speed and disappeared into the Tall Grasses of 'Route 6'.
