25 Ch. 23 - Limitless

After all, other than Gyarados, all of my Pokemon were in perfect condition.

So I moved in front of a podium on which she was sitting.

Misty, The Tomboyish Mermaid.

{Image Of Misty}

"Hi, You're a new face." said Misty

"Only those Trainers who have a policy about Pokemon can turn pro. What is your approach when you catch and train Pokemon? My policy is an all-out offensive with Water-Type Pokemon." said Misty

[You are challenged by Leader Misty]

The first Pokemon Misty sent was Starmie.

'Already starting off with the Menace. Okay, no need to be scared; I can defeat it easily since Gyarados is also Water-Type, so <Water Pulse> wouldn't be effective.'

Gyarados Lv. 20 - 55/71

Starmie Lv. 20 - 100%

{Image Of Starmie}

[Gyarados's <Intimidate > ability causes foe's Starmie's Attack to fall]

Gyarados Lv. 20 - 55/71

Starmie Lv. 20 <-1 Attack> - 100%

Starmie started with <Psywave > move, dealing a considerable chunk of damage to Gyarados.

Gyarados Lv. 20 - 37/71

Starmie Lv. 20 <-1 Attack> - 100%

While I used <Bite > which was super effective but...

[The foe's Starmie restored its health using its Oran Berry]

Starmie had an Oran Berry which healed its HP back to 54.4%

Memories of my 17 failed attempts started rushing back as I watched Starmie's HP fill back up.

Gyarados Lv. 20 - 37/71

Starmie Lv. 20 <-1 Attack> - 54.4%

'Breath in, Breath out, nothing to worry, I am sure Gyarados can tank another attack from Starmie.'

Again Starmie used <Psywave > knocking Gyarados HP to 14.

Gyarados Lv. 20 - 14/71

Starmie Lv. 20 <-1 Attack> - 54.4%

Using <Bite > again, I finished off Starmie.

"HELLLLLL YEAH!!!" I exclaimed, feeling a surge of adrenaline as Starmie dissolved into white particles and disappeared.

[Foe's Starmie fainted]

[Gyarados gains 858 EXP. Points]

[Gyarados grew to Lv. 21]

[Gyarados wants to learn the move <Rage >]

[But Gyarados already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Rage >?]

Hearing the notifications, I calmed down and looked at them.

Without even wasting a moment to think, I chose to replace the most useless move that exists in the Pokemon world, <Splash >.

[Gyarados forgot how to use <Splash >]

[Gyarados has learned <Rage >]

Right after choosing to replace <Splash > with <Rage >, another series of notifications appear.

[Gyarados wants to learn the move <Waterfall >]

[But Gyarados already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Waterfall >?]

Since <Water Pulse> and <Waterfall > are both Water-Type move, but <Waterfall > does more damange compare to <Water Pulse>, I chose to replace <Water Pulse> with <Waterfall >

[Gyarados forgot how to use <Water Pulse>]

[Gyarados has learned <Waterfall >]

After choosing the moves, the battle continued, as Misty sent out her second Pokemon, which was Psyduck.

Gyarados Lv. 21 - 14/74

Psyduck Lv. 18 - 100%

Here I was in conflict with which move to use, as I could use <Rage > which does low damage but every time Gyarados takes damage, it will increase its Attack stats, but the problem is Gyarados was already low on HP and possibly the attack of Psyduck will knock out Gyarados.

So, I chose to use the same move again, <Bite >, which not only took most of Psyduck's HP but also caused it to flinch.

Gyarados Lv. 21 - 14/74

Psyduck Lv. 18 - 28.6%

[The foe's Psyduck flinched and couldn't move]

Gyarados Lv. 21 - 14/74

Psyduck Lv. 18 - 28.6%

It seems that luck is on my side. Again I used <Bite > which knocked out Psyduck.

[Foe's Psyduck fainted]

[Gyarados gains 340 EXP. Points]

'Now, only one Pokemon remains. I can't believe that a day will come when I will defeat Misty on my first try.'

Misty sent out her last Pokemon which was Goldeen.

Gyarados Lv. 21 - 14/74

Goldeen Lv. 16 - 100%

'I knew that Gyarados wouldn't be able to survive its attack as Gyaraods were already low on HP. But I am happy that I was able to defeat most of Misty's Pokemon with only one Pokemon.'

I used <Bite > which took almost all its HP and by the love of Arceus, it also caused Goldeen to flinch.

Gyarados Lv. 21 - 14/74

Goldeen Lv. 16 - 32.6%

[The foe's Goldeen flinched and couldn't move]

Gyarados Lv. 21 - 14/74

Goldeen Lv. 16 - 32.6%

I was happy that I would be able to defeat Misty without losing any of my Pokemon. I chose to use <Bite > again which ended Goldeen.

[Foe's Goldeen fainted]

[Gyarados gains 303 EXP. Points]

[You defeated Leader Misty]

[You got ₽1,920 for winning]

"Wow! You're too much!"

'I'm too much? I fucking can't believe that I defeated you first try.' I thought as I wiped off the imaginary tears of happiness.

"You can have the Cascade Badge to show you beat me." said Misty as she presented me with a blue color Badge in the shape of a Water Drop.

[You have received the Cascade Badge from Misty]

Just like last time, the Badge in my hand turned white and vanished.

[The Cascade Badge has been stored in your PokeDEX.]

[Your Trainer card has been Updated]

[Hidden conditions satisfied]

[You have completed a Hidden Quest]

[Please check it for more details.]

'Oh, another Hidden Quest, I wonder what will be the reward of this one. The last one gave me Running Shoes which are very helpful...' the voice of Misty broke me out of my thoughts.

"The Cascade Badge makes all Pokemon up to Level 32 obey. That includes even outsiders you got in trades."

"There's more. You can now use some of the moves like <Cut > anytime, even out of battle. These moves will help you open new pathways. Like you can CUT down small trees using <Cut > to open new pathways." said Misty.

"Oh and here, you can also have my favorite TM." she took out a TM and presented it to me.

[You received TM03 from Misty]

"TM03 teaches <Water Pulse>, use it on an aquatic Pokemon." she explained.

"Now go on." said Misty as she went back to sit on her podium waiting for another challenger.

After receiving everything, I quickly exit the gym to look at the details of the Hidden quest.

But just as I exited the Gym, I started pulsing with red light.

"What? What? What!!! Why am I glowing red? Did I enter Chornobyl by accident?"

"No Chornobyl is not in the Pokemon world, so then why am I glowing?" I said as I inspected my body and the surroundings for answers.

"I am not hurting or anything, what could this light mean?" and before I could think more, the pulsing stopped.

"Weird... What was that?" I continued to examine my body but everything seemed fine.

After some time, I couldn't find any answers so I put it in the back of my mind and started heading towards the Pokemon Center.

While on my way, I checked the Hidden Quest but what I presented in front of me was far from what I expected causing me to stop in my steps.

[You have completed a Hidden Quest]

[COMPLETE]

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, the reward was something I couldn't have possibly imagined.

Looking at the reward, I immediately took out my PokeDEX to check the <Time Remaining>, and sure enough it wasn't there.

[DIPPER - Issued 20XX-02-02

PokeDEX - 12

Money - ₽12,144

<Gym Badges>

"Could that red light from before be caused because my time ran out and the Pokemon world was trying to send me back but because of the quest reward it didn't?"

"Well, whatever it was it didn't cause me any harm so there is nothing more to think about it."

After recovering from the shock, I resume my journey to the Pokemon Center.

Soon after healing the Pokemon, I sat in the sitting area of the Pokemon Center.

"Now that I am not limited by the 6-hour limit, I can stay in the Pokemon world for as long as I want except when I have to eat, sleep, or excrete." I said.
