Ch. 17 - Fossils

Getting my Pokemon healed, I sat down in the sitting area to wait for my time to reach 0 and return to the real world.

Shortly after, I was back in the real world on my bed.

Getting out of bed and stretching my limbs, I changed my clothes and went to my part-time job.

Returning home, I checked the internet. Many players online had successfully defeated Brock and earned the Boulder Badge.

They took inspiration from my Pokemon battle against Brock and utilized Grass-Type Pokemon to fight against Brock.

Players who chose Bulbasaur, a Grass-Type Pokémon, as their starter had an easier time, while others had to catch a new Grass-Type Pokemon and level it up.

Even players from other regions have also succeeded in defeating the first gym of their regions after reading about my Pokemon battle against Brock.

Players are starting to understand the mechanism of Pokemon typing and how to take advantage of that.

After surfing the internet, nothing else caught my attention, So I went to sleep.

[Next Day]

Back inside the Pokemon world, I exited the Pokemon Center and entered 'Mt. Moon'.

'Other players are starting to catch up. I need to hurry and clear 'Mt. Moon' and reach 'Cerulean City'.' I thought.

Not encountering many wild Pokemon, I reached the second ladder which was approximately in the middle of 'Mt. Moon'.

Descending the ladder, I was in a small space with another ladder leading down.

Again going down the next ladder, I was now on the second basement of 'Mt. Moon'.

Similar to the last time I was in the second basement, this part of the second basement was also isolated from the rest of the basement with stone walls.

A Team Rocket Grunt stood in the middle, whom I easily defeated.

After defeating the grunt, I explored the area but I didn't find much besides a TM.

'Now only the last ladder is remaining, which will lead me to the Team Rocket Grunts and the exit of 'Mt. Moon'.'

'Just 9 more levels and I will have a Gyarados of my own.' I thought.

Reaching the third and the final ladder which is at the end of the first floor of 'Mt. Moon', I went down.

The area was similar to the area I was in when I went down the first ladder, but this area was a flip image of that area, almost the same path and the surroundings.

Making my way on the stone path which had some parts covered with sand, I reached another ladder leading to the second basement.

'That's it, I can go down this ladder, face off against Team Rocket, and leave 'Mt. Moon'.'

After going down the ladder, I was in the second basement of 'Mt. Moon' but unlike when I previously came to the second basement from the other ladders, this area is large and open and I could see some Team Rocket Grunts standing around.

After defeating the grunt, I continued exploring. For a long while, I didn't encounter any Team Rocket Grunts or any wild Pokemon.

After walking for about an hour or so, I saw a Team Rocket Grunt guarding a stone opening.

"We, TEAM ROCKET, shall find the fossils."

"Reviving Pokemon from them will earn us huge riches." said the grunt as soon as he saw me.

After defeating the grunt, I made my way into the opening where I saw an NPC dressed in a white lab coat standing.

"Hey, stop!"

"I found these fossils! They're both mine!" said the NPC.

Defeating him was not easy, as almost all of my Pokemon were in Pokemon battles against wild Pokemon, there HP was low, and after facing off against him, my Bellsprout and Ponyta fainted while Charmeleon's HP was in single digits.

"We'll each take a fossil. No being greedy." said the NPC offering me to take anyone of the two fossils.

I made my way to the fossils and there were two rocks with an exoskeleton of a Pokemon engraved on them.

Picking up the first fossil

'I forgot which fossil is of which Pokemon.'

Clicking on <No >, I picked the other fossil.

[Do you want the HELIX Fossil?]

Again I clicked on <No >.

'I want the fossil of Kabuto, but I don't know which one is it.'

Looking closely at both of the fossils, the left fossil which is the Dome fossil had an engraving of a smooth, symmetrical shell with two groves at the front of the shell.

While the fossil on the right was the Helix Fossil, the fossil had a similar engraving of a shell, but the shell was more like a snail's shell with circular patterns on it.

'From the looks of it, the Dome Fossil is the fossil of Kabuto, while the Helix fossil should be of Omanyte.'

Picking up the Dome fossil, I clicked <Yes >.

'I hope I am right and this fossil is the fossil of Kabuto.'

"All right. Then this fossil is mine." said the NPC as he took the Helix fossil.

After choosing the fossil, I continued forward.

Paras Lv. 11 <Got Away>

Since my Pokemon were low on HP, I chose to run away from the wild Pokemon.

I reached the ladder which I can use to go up. Climbing the ladder, I was in another small area filled with rocks and another ladder.

There was nothing to explore in that area, So I climbed the ladder and continued on my journey.

Just as I climbed the ladder, I was out of the 'Mt. Moon' and now in an open area.

Right in front of me was a sign that read:

"Finally, I am out of that dark tunnel. Now I just need to get to cross 'Route 4' and reach 'Cerulean City'."
