11 Ch. 10 - First Defeat

Man, it took me a lot longer in 'Viridian Forest' than I expected. I only have 1 minute left.

Since I couldn't do anything productive in 1 minute, I chose to stay sitting in the Pokemon Center until the time ran out.

Soon, I was back in the real world.

Disconnecting the charger from the phone, I looked at the time, which was 2:15 PM.

Since I had decided to continue working at my part-time job, I got up and got ready to leave for work.

On my way, I grabbed some fast food from a street food cart.

I worked until 8 PM and returned home after receiving my pay.

I lay on my bed and pondered.

'Life is so boring. I wish there were no 6-hour limit on the Pokemon World. Then I could stay in the Pokemon world for as long as I want.'

'Maybe that will all change when Pokemon can be taken out of the Pokemon world.'

I woke up to the sound of the alarm at 7 AM. I hurried to freshen up, ate some instant noodles, and entered the Pokemon World.

I found myself back in the empty Pokemon Center of 'Pewter City.' Since no other player had made it to 'Pewter City', the Pokemon Center was empty except for some NPCs occupying the space.

'Now that I have reached 'Pewter City', I can challenge the First Gym.'

'But first, I need to put Pikachu in the PC box to make space for other Pokemon that I will catch.'

Since the IVs of Pikachu were very bad, I chose not to invest my time in training it and simply put it in the PC box for when I could take it out to the real world.

After using the PC and placing the Poke Ball of Pikachu in the slot at the bottom of the PC, the Poke Ball vanished, and the miniature version of Pikachu appeared in the first empty slot of the PC box.

"Now, I have a Charmander Lv. 12, a Hoothoot Lv. 10, and a Ponyta Lv. 6 on my team. Should I try to challenge Brock right now or level up my Pokemon some more?"

"Okay, let's try challenging Brock and see how far we can go. I can always challenge him again after grinding."

After deciding to challenge the first gym without leveling up more, I started exploring and looking for a building that resembled the Gym building that I saw in 'Viridian City'.

After searching for 30 minutes, I spotted a building with a brown roof and 'GYM' written on the front.

Circling around the building to reach the entrance of the building, I made my way inside.

{Image Of First Gym}

The inside of the building was filled with sand and boulders placed at the side. A path lay in the middle of the building that led to 2 NPCs, one of them being the assistant of Brock, and the NPC at the end of the path sitting on a giant boulder should be Brock.

At the entrance stood two stone statues, both with the same text written on them.

<Pewter Pokemon Gym>

<Leader : Brock>

<Winning Trainers :>

'I wonder why the <Winning Trainer> section is empty. Did Blue not reach 'Pewter City' yet?'

After looking at the status, I made my way up toward Brock but I was stopped by the assistant of Brock.

"Stop right there, kid!"

"You're ten thousand light-years from facing Brock!"

After saying that, He sent out his Pokemon, a Geodude Lv. 10.

{Image Of Geodude}

As he sent out his Pokemon, my first Pokemon came out automatically, which is a Hoothoot Lv. 10.

Hoothoot Lv. 10 - 33/33

Geodude Lv. 10 - 100%

I chose to attack with the <Confusion > move, which did almost no damage.

Hoothoot Lv. 10 - 33/33

Geodude Lv. 10 - 79.3%

The opponent used the <Rock Tomb> move, which was super effective against Hoothoot, knocking him out in one hit.

[Hoothoot fainted!]

'I didn't think that Hoothoot would be knocked out in one hit.'

Looking at the third window, which was now prompting me to choose the next Pokemon to send out, I chose Charmander.

Charmander Lv. 12 - 33/33

Geodude Lv. 10 - 79.3%

From Charmander's moves, I chose <Dragon Breath>, which did some decent damage, and also Paralyzed Geodude.

Charmander Lv. 12 - 33/33

Geodude Lv. 10 <Paralyzed > - 37.9%

I was hoping that Geodude wouldn't be able to move because of its Paralyzed status but the odds were against me, and Geodude used <Rock Tomb>, which was super effective against Charmander.

Charmander Lv. 12 - 06/33

Geodude Lv. 10 <Paralyzed > - 37.9%

Again, I chose to use <Dagon Breath> but this time, the opponent switched his Pokemon from Geodude to Sandshrew Lv. 11.

{Image Of Sandshrew}

The <Dragon Breath> hit Sandshrew, taking 40% of his HP.

Charmander Lv. 12 - 06/33

Sandshrew Lv. 11 - 40%

Once again, I chose to use <Dragon Breath> which was the strongest move that Charmander currently knew.

But because of Sandshrew's higher speed stats, Sandshrew attacked first. He used <Scratch >, which knocked out my Charmander.

[Charmander fainted!]

'Now, only Ponyta remains. Maybe I shouldn't have removed Pikachu from the team; then, I would have had more chances of winning.'

I sent out Ponyta.

Ponyta Lv. 06 - 22/22

Sandshrew Lv. 11 - 40%

I chose <Quick Attack>, hoping that It would do enough damage, but to my disappointment, it only reduced Sandshrew's HP by 10%.

Ponyta Lv. 06 - 22/22

Sandshrew Lv. 11 - 30%

The opponent chose to use <Rock Tomb>, which was super effective against Ponyta, knocking it out in one hit.

[All you Pokemon fainted]

[Camper Liam has defeated You]

And that marked my very first defeat in the Pokemon world.

After the last notification, I was instantly teleported to the Pokemon Center.

After healing my Pokemon, I sat there, thinking about what could be done to win against the first gym.

Even after grinding on 'Route 22' for so long, I wasn't even able to defeat the assistant of Brock, let alone Brock himself.

Now I had to do two things: first, I needed to catch more Pokemon with good stats, and the other was to continue the eternal Grind.

I started making my way to 'Route 2' to catch some plant-type Pokemon and level up Ponyta.

Along the way, I saw a sign that read:

<PEWTER CITY>

<A Stone Gray City>

Entering the tall grass of 'Route 2', The first Pokemon that I encountered was Oddish Lv. 4, which is one of the plant-type Pokemon that I was hoping to catch.

{Image Of Oddish}

I was not expecting to encounter one so soon.

I chose to use <Quick Attack> to lower its HP as much as possible. After 2 <Quick Attack>, I chose to throw a Poke Ball, which also happened to be my last Poke Ball other than the Great Ball that I found after defeating Doduo on 'Route 22'.

By some miracle, I was able to catch Oddish on the first try.

After catching Oddish, I made my way back to 'Pewter City' to heal Oddish and buy some Poke Balls.

After healing Oddish, I checked its stats.

"Another weak Pokemon. What bad luck."

Without thinking much, I put Oddish in the PC box and made my way to the Poke Mart to buy some Poke Balls.

Currently, I only had ₽376, which could only get me one Poke Ball.

Looking at the contents of my backpack:

[1x Repel

1x Great Ball

3x Antidote

3x Potion]

I chose to sell 1x Repel, 3x Antidote, and 1x Potion.

The Repel sold for ₽200, the Antidote sold for ₽100 each, and the Potion sold for ₽100. With a total of ₽600.

After selling the items, I bought 4 Poke Balls for ₽800, leaving me with only ₽176.

[4x Poke Ball

1x Great Ball

2x Potion]

After buying the Poke Balls, I made my way to the tall grass of 'Route 2'.

Rattata Lv. 4 <Defeated >

Caterpie Lv. 5 <Defeated >

Hoothoot Lv. 5 <Defeated >

[Ponyta grew to Lv. 7]

Nidoran ♀ Lv. 6 <Defeated >

[You found a Poke Ball]

How lucky! I got a Poke Ball when I needed it.

After putting the Poke Ball in the bag, I continued moving around the tall grass.

Another Oddish Lv. 4 appeared, and again I chose to lower its HP with <Quick Attack>, Similar to last time, after using <Quick Attack> twice, I threw a Poke Ball at Oddish. I caught it on the first try.

I chose to continue grinding for more EXP before going to the Pokemon Center.

After Oddish, I encountered a Bellsprout Lv. 4, which I caught on the first try.

{Image Of Bellsprout}

Another Bellsprout appeared, but since I had already caught one, I chose not to catch another one and defeated it using Ponyta.

Bellsprout Lv. 3 <Defeated >

[Ponyta grew to Lv. 8]

Weedle Lv. 3 <Defeated >

Bellsprout Lv. 4 <Defeated >

Rattata Lv. 3 <Defeated >

Nidoran ♂ Lv. 4 <Defeated >

[Ponyta grew to Lv. 10]

[Ponyta wants to learn the move <Double Hit>]

[But Ponyta already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Double Hit>?]

I chose to forget <Tail Whip> move and learn <Double Hit> in its place.

[Ponyta forgot how to use <Tail Whip>]

[Ponyta has learned <Double Hit>]

Rattata Lv. 3 <Defeated >

Pidgey Lv. 4 <Defeated >

Bellsprout Lv. 3 <Defeated >

Rattata Lv. 3 <Defeated >

Nidoran ♀ Lv. 4 <Defeated >

Nidoran ♀ Lv. 5 <Defeated >

Pidgey Lv. 4 <Defeated >

Nidoran ♂ Lv. 6 <Defeated >

[Ponyta grew to Lv. 10]

After Ponyta reached level 10, I stopped and made my way to the Pokemon Center. It took more time to level up Ponyta because of the low-level wild Pokemon, but the plus point was that I didn't have to waste my time making trips to the Pokemon Center to get my Pokemon healed after 1 or 2 battles.

After healing my Pokemon, I looked at the data of the Oddish and Bellsprout.
