Potions and goodbye

An old man emerges out from the room on the other side of the door with his wooden cane on his hand and a long robe covering him and glasses resting on the bridge of his nose, out of all that, his beard stands out the most.

There's also an enormous old-style magician hat on top of his head. The boy instantly got a thought, 'He must be some magician, maybe he could help me find some good potions?'

A smile emerges out on his face when he considers the possibilities of what will happen at that moment. Meanwhile, the clerk talks to the old man, "Nothing master, this poor boy wanted to buy some potions for his mother and doesn't have enough money"

The old man rubs beard for a second and a smile emerges out on his face all of a sudden. He extends his arm toward the boy and says, "Why don't you follow me to the backroom boy? I might have a good potion for your mother,"

Abel's thoughts are gone when the old man said this. When he saw the old man's hand extended toward him, the boy confusedly placed his hand on there. He never paid any attention during his thought, 'Wait, where is this guy taking me?'

Confusion as he was, he follows the man to where he leads him. They enter the room on the other side of the wooden door and the old man closes the door. The boy could see the room where he stands currently. There is a couch and a table right in front of the door.

There, a man is sitting with his crossed legs and currently reading a book, when the boy raises his head a little, he could see who it was. The boy calls him, "Dad?!? What are you doing here?"

The man raises his head and quickly places his book on the table. He casually gets himself up from the couch and lets out a sigh before saying, "That should be my question, what are you doing at a magic shop?"

The boy stands there nervously. He began to sweat and need to find a good reason for Abelard's father, 'Shit, I need to find a good reason… what can I say to Abelard's father…. Oh, yea! The experiment thing could use that as a reason, '

He takes a deep breath and says to his father, "You… You know that… I'm conducting an experiment, I need some potions to complete this, so I accidentally end up here to buy some potions"

His dad lets out a chuckle and says, "Lucky for you to come here, this is our family store, you can take whatever you want here. Gellius, sorry to trouble you with my son, but can you please assist him here?"

The old man was shocked when he heard the father and son exchanging words at each other. He never expected the boy was the son of the man he knew. There's silent for a few seconds as the old man regains his composure. He then responded, "As you wish m'lord, I will assist the young master as best as I could"

The father smiles lightly. He then went goes back to his book and let the old man assist Abel in finding potions. Both the boy and the old man goes to a room where there're many stuff but no potions on sight.

The old man suddenly bows to Abel and asks, "Young master, what potions do you need on your experiment? Is it mana potions? I can show you some of the finest potions made by your father himself!"

The boy gives him a light smile and says, "You don't need to bow at me senior, I just need some recovery and healing potions, need around 200 to 300 of them, what are the prices if I may ask?"

The old man straightens himself and says to the boy, "This shop won't charge you, it's your family store, let me bring you to the healing potions sections, I believe there are plenty of options available"

Not long after that, the boy finds himself in a place where there are many coloured potions everywhere in his point of view, even at the corner of his eyes. The old man says, "This is the place young master, I'll go to talk to the clerk for a bit, you can look at this yourself, call me whenever you wish"

Abel gives him a smile and nod at the old man. He says, "Thanks, you can go now, I will help myself" And the old man disappears from his sight. The boy, with a big grin on his face, he looks at all the surrounding potions.

He quickly thinks of what he should do at that moment, 'What should I do? Which potions should I get first? There are so many options to choose from…''

Then there's a potion that caught his attention, it's a small bottle, filled with some sort of cyan or perhaps could be said, light green coloured liquid, "Woah? What is this? Looks like a pretty good potion for the elves,"

"Let me examine this, but how?" Then a tab suddenly pops up right in front of his eyes, it's about the information of the potion itself.

[Medium grade, small healing potion]

Effect: Recover 20% of user's health

Ingredients: ???

The boy turns around and sees tabs regarding of the potions right below the potions bottle itself. Abel then looks at the tab, one by one of every potion he could find and see in the room where he stands currently.

When he was done examining every bottle of potions, he returns to his original position, right at the entrance of the room before he enters he concludes in his mind that, 'So, the short tube that has a shape of potion bottle is a small potion, and the one bottle that has a shape of the ball is medium potions, there's also this one bottle that has a shape of a pyramid and it's the big potions'

He looks at the potions from corner to corner once again to see all the potion's colour there, 'Well, so based on what I see, the cyan one is a healing potion, the red one is for stamina, the blue one is mana potion, that's all in this room… There's also the ingredients part but there's question mark everywhere…"

The boy let out a quiet sigh before shrugging to himself and says, "Guess I don't have enough knowledge of alchemy, Hehe… anyway, I need to find the boxes where the potions are stored in"

He looks around once again and then notices the wooden boxes right under the table which each potion is shown. He knows exactly the content inside the box. The boy helps himself and pulls the crates and opens each of it then.

A bright smile emerges on his face as he quickly places all the potions inside his inventory, he takes the numbers of potions he needs. After he is done, he closes the boxes and pushes it back under the table and thinks for the last time before exiting the room, 'I think the potions I took from here are enough'

[Items acquired, 150 medium grade, small healing potions]

[Items acquired, 150 medium grade, small mana potions]

[Items acquired, 150 medium grade, small stamina potions]

He gives the room a look and a light smile before exiting the room. He closes the door and goes on his way. Before he could take more than 1 step, he sees the old man approaching him and saying, "Young master, are you satisfied with the potions you took from the room? Do you need more?"

The boy shakes his head and responds, no, this is enough, "I took about 150 potions from each type of 3 small portions in the room, this should be enough for my experiment, thank you for your help"

The old man gives the boy a long-lasting smile before saying to him, "Well, let's go then, your father said that he wants to see you before you go do your experiment!"

Abel nods at the old man and soon, the boy finds himself sitting on a chair, his father sitting in front of him at the same couch from before and still reading the same book. His father takes a sip from the cup of tea.

The boy is getting more nervous as every second passes, sweats begin to form on top of his face as his father places back the cup of tea back to the table, "Well, son, I want to give you something, this might help you on your experiment"

Abel let out a quiet sigh of relief and nods at his father, his father then continues his words, "Well, I know you will be gone from this city for quite a time, this experiment might take several days or even months before we can meet again, all I can give is this and some good luck"

The man reach for his small bag on his waist and takes some sort of a scroll from the bag and a pouch of money then places it on the table, "Take this and good luck, I'll see you again when you return to this city, just don't take too long!"

Abel nods and he takes all the stuff his father gives him and gets himself up from the chair, he tells his father, "Thank you, dad, wish me luck, I will go now"

The boy begins making his way toward the wooden door, the very same door he uses when he comes inside the room. He slowly opens the door and has thought at that very same moment, 'Why does father sound like he's wishing me on a very long journey?'

He shakes his head and was about to close the door, that's when he hears the words that shock him coming from his father, "Good luck on your fight against the orcs…"
