47 Chapter 46
Chen couldn't tell what happened to him. He had been about to defeat a dark dragon spirit when another dark spirit attacked him. It used a spear movement from wrestling.
Since when spirits knew how to wrestle?
Anyway. The large bunny hugged his torso and flew him across the spirit world, far away from the Tree of Time. On the way, Chen could see how the spirit world changed.
It was a very strange world. There were seas, mountains, and floating islands here and there. There were dragons and weird animals he'd never seen before.
Lifting his eyes, he saw the sky was dark. Lightning bolts danced between the clouds. Chen had an idea. Struggling to free his hand, he lifted it.
"Fall from Heaven," he declared the name of his movement. A spark of electricity appeared on his hand. It was positively charged. He then slammed down. The lightning in the sky gathered at one point, before descending. It swallowed the spirit and Chen at the same time.
<<Rumble>>
A dooming sound of thunder followed.
Chen, on the other hand, was absorbing the lightning.
The same couldn't be said about the spirit.

Chen the dark spirit fell. Chen had absorbed the lightning, the spiritual one. Since it was from an external source, he didn't have to use his energy to generate it. His energy was full again as he fell to the ground.
Chen flipped, pointed his hands down, and unleashed a strong fire stream. It swallowed his movement. When he slowed down enough, he dispelled the fire and landed on his feet.
Other three spirits were coming to him.
The one that looked like a dragon, which was the biggest, looked angrily at him. The other two looked like wolves. They were hungry and running after him.
He had to fight. There was no escape. He had no confidence in dealing with the three of them, but he knew that he shouldn't foresee the outcome.
Standing up on one foot, he extended his hands left and right. He gazed at the spirits.
"Come to me." He called, white fire glowing around his foot and hands.
The dragon opened its mouth widely, heading at Chen with the intent of killing him. Since he'd his physical body here, he would surely take physical damage. As for Unalaq, he'd only taken damage to his soul. It would be funny to meme and say 'emotional damage.' But there was no room for memes when the world was about to end.
Chen jumped, timing it perfectly. He left three fire trails behind him. The dragon passed by his original spot. Chen span, so the white flame around the dragon. When it completed spinning around him, the dragon started shrinking, turning into a small lizard that jumped happily.

Just as Chen was about to stop spinning, the wolf spirit jumped at him, opening its mouth widely and biting his arm.
"You bastard." In pain, Chen opened his eyes widely. He placed his hand on the dark spirit's head, and he unleashed lightning from his hand. The lightning circled it, covering it. The spirit howled and opened its mouth, leaving Chen free from its bite.
Chen held his arm. Blood was gushing out of the wound. The spirit wasn't defeated. It'd only taken damage, which seemed to get fixed. From his hand, a green flame lit up. His wounds started numbing, and the bleeding stopped. The other spirit headed at him so swiftly. Lightning boosting his movement speed, Chen vanished, turning into what seemed like a lightning bolt. As he appeared 20 meters back, he extended his hands to the left. A lightning blade formed around it.
The dark spirit, seeming to know the effect of the lightning, walked around with wariness.
Meanwhile, a red aura covered Chen. His muscles tensed up. His Chi was boosting his cells with power and forcing blood to circle faster. It guaranteed his speed and power beyond his human self.
Using lightning dash to boost his already boosted speed, he headed at the wolf spirit. Chen couldn't see at all when moving at such speed. However, he could sense with his thermal and electrical senses. He appeared in front of the dark spirit, and he thrust his hand, which held the lightning edge. His hand pierced the spirit, sending it flying across the ground, leaving a hole in its head.

At that moment, the other wolf spirit appeared. Chen waved his hand at it, but the spirit dodged. Instead of biting him, it thrust its head at him. It entered his body, which reacted like the surface of the water.
Chen opened his eyes widely.
Did this spirit just enter inside him? Did it possess him?
He remembered what would happen to him in The Legend of Korra. He would either die or turn into a freak — a mix between a human and a wolf.
He felt alien energy trying to combine with his Chi.
There was no way he would allow such energy to take over him.
Opening the system as quick as possible, he poured around 200 thousand experience points into his Chi.

Chen controlled his Chi, to fight the outside energy that was trying to take over his body. It went through his meridian.
Chen fell to his knees and put his hands on his head. It hurt. Clenching his teeth, he stared up, and he screamed.
A red aura covered his body. This time, it wasn't a result of his energy getting out of his hands and covering his body. It appeared because of internal action.
The dark spirit, which tried to possess him, flew out of his body. Parts of it were missing.

Chen breathed heavily, his energy was unstable for a second. Dark purple energy was getting absorbed inside of his body. His Chi devoured it as if were a virus.
Meanwhile, Chen felt his energy get stronger — his bending got stronger, by a tenth or ninth of its original. He aimed his hand at the wolf, and a white fire left his hand. The fire stream was larger than he would usually release.
It wasn't compared to what Korra could do in her Avatar state, but it was something worth mentioning.
Simply, Chen had earned more Chi. But the ability to increase the power of his bending.
Now, the system levels increased his skills. But never the power. Taking the power from a spirit increased Chen's power dramatically. It was as if a pseudo-Avatar state.
The wolf howled, before losing its dark attribute.

Chen lay down, and he took a deep breath. The green fire started spreading on his body, healing his wounds and internal wounds. He had taken some damage, and it would take some time.
Chen realised one thing, and he stared at the sky.
"The spirits of dark and light are powerful."
"However, are they the only powerful ones to exist" Chen muttered.
What if he found a spirit that he would fuse with to be more powerful?
By now, Chen was sure that Unalaq wouldn't stand still. He would go to Korra and use Chen to manipulate her to open the portals. He knew that the fool girl liked him. Even though she would have learnt her lesson, her emotions for him would blind her.
Chen needed to find a strong spirit and fuse with it. He could become some Avatar of a different sort.
He was sure that he could achieve that with his Chi Control level. After all, he could kick a dark spirit outside of him, and he'd even taken a portion of its power.
"Now, I wonder, is there a strong ancient spirit that hates Vaatu." Chen thought. "And it should know the directions because I am lost." He looked left and right, and he didn't know how to get back to the portal.
Chen looked left and right. Currently, he was in a gloomy place. Dark grey clouds were all over. Mountains, sharp treeless grey ones were around him.
He'd learnt that the spiritual world would react to the energy emitted from the person.
A drop of water fell from the sky as a flash of lightning passed. It started raining.
Chen looked at his hand, wondering what was wrong with this world.
