23 Chapter 23
Korra rushed out of the police station, ignoring her duty as the Avatar to find out more about the blood benders.
The warning from that cute guy, Chen, had made her heart pound. Her teammate may be in danger.
She didn't know why Chen had thought so. But she'd known that he was kind of mysterious. He'd only muttered a word of revaluation before talking about her teammate being in danger.
He provoked her curiosity. He's more depth than her firebender teammate.
'What's wrong with me? Am I attracted to firebenders?' Feeling some heat on her cheeks, she shook her head. She got out of the police station, and Chen wasn't there already. She would have followed him if not for his warning. She'd been more worried about her friend, whom she felt guilt for using once to deal with rejection.
Outside, there was a white polar bear dog. It was her friend, Naga.
"Let's go girl. Find Bolin."
Naga had met Bolin already, and she'd remembered his smell. It would be easy to find him at this late time of day. Their team, after qualifying for the tournament, was lacking around 30.000 Yuan fees. Mako and Bolin were trying to make money on their way, or they may get kicked out of the tournament.
However, what Chen had said made her worried. If something happened to Bolin, she may feel so bad about how far she'd treated him.
Soon, Naga arrived at the centre of the city.
Bolin was there, with his fire ferret Pabu.
Pabu was dancing for the passing people, and someone threw them a coin of 1 Yuan.
Korra couldn't help but smile in relief.
That Chen had scarred her for nothing.
It could be probably a prank he would pull on his opponents. In that case, she didn't mind teaching him a future lesson about what may happen if someone trolled her.
Someone approached Bolin. She knew that guy. His name was Shady Shen. He was talking to Bolin. From the body language of her teammate, she could tell that he was hesitant and was refusing the idea. But soon, he flashed big stakes of money to Bolin and threw it at him. Bolin opened his eyes widely, happy. He seemed to consider the idea of the gang man Shen.
She now remembered Chen's words, and she was sure that Bolin was being pulled into a trap. Without hesitation, she rushed toward them. She jumped in the air and closed her fists. When she landed on the ground, she raised her fists. The ground beneath Shady Shen rose, sending him flying up to the sky. He then fell on his butt.
Shen looked left and right as he was trying to stand up. "Who dares!"
"I do!" Korra crosser her arms. "Gotta problem with it."
Shen stood up and turned his face to her. He was shocked to see her.
"The Avatar!"
"Do you remember what I've said about what may happen if I caught you terrorising citizens?"
"I wasn't. I was just offering a business deal to Bolin."
"Well, he isn't for the business." Korra turned to Bolin, who lowered his head. Bolin looked to be ashamed that he was caught.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't help it when I saw how much money he casually threw at me."
She turned to Shen, "leave and don't show me your ugly face again."
Korra frowned at him, and he flinched.
"I'll remember that Avatar!" he rushed to his car, driving as far as possible from them.

Chen was in his apartment, his hand on his crotch, dancing. His other hand was holding an old expensive wine. On the table, there were a few expensive cigars.
Currently, he was celebrating.
Taking down Tarrlok was like taking down a game boss.
He currently has 130.000 accumulated experience.

Those stats were worth celebrating. He wasn't far from becoming way stronger than he is now. With the accumulated experience he had, he could take his lightningbending and firebending to next level.
He sat on the couch. Remembering that Amon would feel pain knowing that they busted his brother, Chen couldn't help but feel that part of his revenge had been achieved.
He poured some wine for himself and lit up a cigar. Sitting on the couch, he started smoking and drinking. He felt very pleased with the good news he was getting.
After this small celebration, it would be time to increase his power. Just as Chen started sipping the alcohol, he heard a knock on the door.
*knock* *knock*
He winced and put the wine down. He thought the universe wouldn't allow him to rest a bit.
Since he hadn't been expecting any visitor, it was wise to not let his guard down.
Stretching his hand to the side, he was ready to release lightning at any given moment. Chen opened the door with his right hand, and the visitor was a man he knew.
Hiroshi Sato was standing there. He was wearing a long coat and a hat that covered him.
"May I come in." He said, his voice nervous.
Chen cancelled the lightning and absorbed it back.
Seeing the expression on the old man's face, Chen knew that Hiroshi had verified what he had told him.
He smiled, and he said. "Please,"
This is his future father-in-law. Hiroshi may see Chen as a saviour, a mysterious existence who was saving him. But Chen saw him as a retirement project. Protecting his wealth and turning him against Amon was to Chen's advantage.
Hiroshi got in, and Chen closed the door behind him.
Hiroshi and Chen sat, opposite each other.
Hiroshi stared at the cigars and the wine, and he said. "It had been many years since I had one. Mind if I?"
"Take whatever you want." Hiroshi poured some wine for himself and took a cigar.
"Mind if I asked for a lit."
"Sure."
Firebenders don't need lighters, so it was rare to find someone having it with them. He shot a small fire stream, lighting his cigar. Hiroshi started inhaling.
"You don't seem to hate benders," Chen said. "Quite surprising from Amon's pawn."
"Let's just drop the acts." Hiroshi sighed. He looked afraid. "You were right. I have been a fool. I was used by someone whom I thought was going to change the world for to better. However, it appears that he is just an authoritative figure who wants to rule everyone. If everyone lost their bending, he would be the one to control everything."
Hiroshi was quite wrong. Amon didn't want to rule. He'd another goal, which Chen didn't remember clearly.
However, since turning him into a powerful greedy figure worked to Chen's benefit, he decided to make that the truth.
"And how did you find out?"
"I sent someone who said he knew his truth. I saw it with my eyes while hiding. He bloodbent the man, and it happened in the morning, without the full moon." Hiroshi exhaled smoke. He put his hands on the side of his head. Regret appeared on his face.
"I can't believe that I was used. My desire to revenge from the Agni Kai had blinded me to take bending from everyone."
"That's just stupid." Chen shrugged and mocked. "Even if Amon managed to take everyone's bending, their kids would breed benders. Many non-benders have the genes of benders in them, and they will give them to their kids. His plan to clean the world from bending is fruitless."
"I see your point," Hiroshi said. " I now see the truth. But I'm totally confused. I don't know what to do. I'm a total fool, and I want to revenge. But I think that Amon would simply get rid of me in secret. I can't simply say that he is a bloodbender. Nobody would believe me without proof." He drank his glass of wine in one gulp.
"Don't worry," Chen said.
"In worse case happened, I want you… I can believe that I'm asking a firebender about this." Hiroshi looked him in the eyes. "Can you protect my daughter?"
Chen smiled.
Hiroshi continued, "although you are a thug who annihilated a gang, I admire you for doing the only thing that I couldn't do. I think that I can trust you at least."
'Thug?' Chen's smile froze. He took a deep breath and sighed. "You can trust your daughter to me. We have good chemistry. "
Hiroshi's eyelid started twitching. "Yeah, she told me as much."
He then sighed and said. "Regarding the matter of Amon. He, tonight, had revealed his power of taking the bending away. He'd taken the bending of the triads. People are viewing him as a hero. I fear that I can't stop him."
"But you can," Chen said. "You know his plan. If you manage to pull him into the water in front of everyone, he would show his power."
"That…" Hiroshi lifted his head, seeming to get struck by an idea.
