Johan sighed and removed his finger from the biometric door lock. He had been trying for the past ten minutes, but to no avail. As much as he abhorred this piece of useless technology, there was a chance that his biometric records had been removed.

Well, it's not like he's here to report to work.

Familiar voices echoed in the corridor near their department. He could hear Jacqueline arguing with Christy while Mommy Thesa laughed at their banter. For sure, Irene was with them too, but she's always been a silent companion among these rowdy girls.

His lips twitched into a sad smile. For three years, these were the people who made feel normal no matter how boring the repetitive nights of typing away on their computer desks. Johan leaned against the wall and waited for them to finish putting their stuff on their lockers.
